I came to the City from Sacramento to meet a friend for dinner. I heard about a boot camp that takes place out of a cycling gym near The Embarcadero, in San Francisco and I took a chance. The class started at 6:00p and wrapped up at 7:15p. Not only was I enjoying the spin classes and training equipment I saw when I walked through the club, but the lockerroom was well equipped as well.
Lucy Roberts was the personal trainer for this 10 person boot camp class for the evening, but I was skeptical. Lucy's quite pretty and small too. We left the front door on a short job to a local park where we proceeded with some high knees, ass kicks, lunges, and squats for a bit. Lucy did everything with us as she gave guidance and support. Upon finishing there, we ran to the water's edge and proceeded with some resistence band exercises. Lucy added in some push-ups, box jumps, and vertical leaps too. We finished with a run back to the club, but stopped to incorporate some jumping jacks and wall-bracing quad burners.
Now, I'm a 39 year old mountain bike racer who gets physical exercise six days a week. I'm no slouch, but Lucy impressed the helll out of me. Not only did the workout kill me (and I had to break a few times), but Lucy did everything she asked us to do, and she did it with a huge smile on her face. She's in amazing shape and her personality is to die for.
What a fantastic experience I had. I recommend finding Lucy at Velo (Front Street) or through Pac West Athletics. I've been training for 20 years, and NEVER have I found such a knowledgable and energized trainer. read more
