I was extremely surprised today when I made a visit to this butcher in Thornhill. The meat is vacuum packed and they do custom orders. I had some fresh Premium Rib Eye Steaks cut for me. Pricing for organic or grass fed is almost the same as regular beef. So can you say SCORE. For those that are looking for a source of fresh. Beef you have to check them out. They also have marinated packages of beef and chicken already to go on the BBQ. Looking forward to the spring when they will be bringing in fresh local Lamb and Chicken all organically raised. Pizza, salads, sandwiches, burgers and pasta are just some items to name. I had the Bison burger combo and it was cooked perfectly. The burger was fresh with no filler. Fries were fresh cut and crispy (must use long potatoes since these fries were huge!). I still need to try the pizza, which looked fresh and had ingredients a plenty. It lost 1-star due to the price of my meal. Bison burger + fries + drink = $22. A bit steep when not in a sit-down restaurant setting. I shouldn't complain too much though, as the food from the surrounding chains or workplace cafeterias don't come close to the quality and taste.

Prices were surprisingly reasonable for a boutique grocery, and my friend was very shocked to see so many Latin American goods. We were here for the burgers and we all ordered our share. I (amongst with many others) got the lamb burger. I usually like my burgers with all the fixins (cheese, bacon, pickles) but they would've definitely taken away from the fresh flavour of the lamb. The only thing I really missed was the onions - if I had an opportunity to add them, I definitely missed it, to my misfortune. Food was good for the price, but I was surprisingly not too stuffed after a burger and fries. Oh and the fries - they have great crispy thicc ROSEMARY fries, so definitely opt for those. We'd love to come again someday and get some meat as well - I saw proscuitto for less than $3/100g, which is cheaper than at my loblaws.

The prices are very reasonable and the selection is good. The quality is outstanding. What attracted me to Mario's Meats is the availability of grass-fed beef at a reasonable price. Mario even has wild game meat in the back such as elk, bison, rabbit, venison and others. You should know that Mario's Meats offer delivery if you meet a certain minimum to make the drive worthwhile. Overall, I cannot recommend Mario's Meats enough. I'll be going back very soon for some Mennonite-raised chicken thighs and eggs, as well as grass-fed ground beef. To be clear, Mario has both, 100% grass-fed beef throughout the lifecycle of the cow and grass finished beef, whereby the cow is put on a grass-only diet during the last 3 months before slaughter.
