We stopped in for a quick bite at "Lucky Dragon" in Camrose. We walked in, sad down (as family with children knows that it takes much to pack up diaper bags/car seat a child).
Yes, I know when you go to a Chinese buffet restaurant you expect deep fried foods but most places will have much potatoes, steamed vegetables etc. The food was too much salt/pepper, deep fried or sautéed in oil. So, I did not have any choices to feed my 16 months old child. The dessert tray had a small sliver of cheesecake, 3 small bowls of jello that my daughter eat and about small 8 pieces of chocolate cake with no icing.
Beside the food we have all eaten at restaurants where food is not the best quality or to our likening. I am not writing this do to the food. We asked for a high chair (not to my likes as no safety strips), I swallowed the high chair thing.
So, my family eat the food we did not like (every body has their own taste) and sat the child in a chair that I did not like. At the end I told my husband that I am going to change our daughter in a washroom. I understand that times are taught with the oil patch low and restaurants do not have much business and can not afford a changing table to hang on a wall. Before anybody comments and tells me to use the counter of the sink there was no room to put my child there to change her. I was very upset and told my husband that I could not change my baby; I went to go pay.
So, I told this the lady behind the counter waitress/owner/manager - she told me to take my daughter into the banquet room and change her on a table. I told her "I am not a hillbilly and I am not going to change my child on a table" and if she is a hillbilly she can change her child on a table. So, please if you are planning a banquet there please ask for tables that did not have children's changed on it. I am not sure if it is a health regulation to have a change table in a washroom but I am sure it is a health regulation to allow or suggest to a customer to change a child/baby diaper on a dinning table (At list a banquet room, where I was suggested to change my child, has a door) So, I got some privacy and not all customers as they are eating their wonton are watching you change a diaper. Do not think I changed my daughter at that place, I had to go to the car and change my daughter out in a car, Lucky it was spring and car was not cold.
So, if you would like to have a great experience and maybe a "surprise" left behind ....... please stop here. read more
