The Lucky Dog Lodge review....... After asking around for recommendations and looking at various places online, we decided to board our pets at Lucky Dog Lodge. I was a very nervous "1st time border". I spent close to an hour on the telephone with the owner asking questions and telling her all about my two dogs. I had asked if they would be able to send me photos and I was told that they do not do that. The thought of not seeing them for 10 days made me very uncomfortable. Prior to taking the dogs. I filled out an online form about personality traits and characteristics of my dogs. On December 16 I took my dogs to Lucky Dog Lodge along with the bag of dog food, a backpack full of their favorite things, and a long list of emergency contacts including veterinariany contact information. I was not allowed to view the facility. I contacted the facility daily via email. The response I received on December 23 stated that Ellie was shaking her head and had rubbed some fur off her eye. ( Ellie is prone to ear infections. I packed her a brand new box of ear medication along with ear wipes just in case. I explained that I usually just clean her ears out and put a couple of drops in each year for a couple of days and usually clears it up.) I was informed that when they attempted to put medicine in her ear she pooped herself. I had a very sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.I emailed back on the 23rd with my concerns. I explained that I felt really bad for her and I didn't understand what She meant by "rubbing fur off". I emailed again on the 24th and 25 of December with no reply. On the 26th I emailed that we were coming home the next day. The owner( Chris Anderson) replied that Ellie was happy and they had been putting Vaseline by her Eye where she had rubbed fur off. We returned home too late on December 27 to pick her up. The rules state the dogs cannot be picked up until the afternoon on Sundays. I emailed her and asked if I could please come get them early. She said I could and I immediately went to go pick up my dogs. It was 8:40 in the morning. When I pulled up, I could see that both dogs were outside. I went inside and paid my boarding bill.($550)Sammy was the first one out. He was walking,crouched very close to the ground with his tail tucked under. He was very nervous and uneasy. He was not his usual happy go lucky puppy self. He seemed scared.He coward when I tried to touch him. The owner said he was walking funny because there was no carpet on the floor. Next, someone went into the back to get Ellie.I heard her say, "mom come here". I got up to go through the door, and the door was pushed closed in front of me. I began calling "Ellie, come here, come on girl".When they finally opened the door for her to come out, I instantly started crying. I said, "oh my God, this is horrific"!The owner said, "it's not that bad". I told her that her eye was infected and needed immediate Vetrinary care. The owner said, "don't you think that if I thought she needed to be seen by a vet that I would've taken her"? I was crying and very upset and couldn't get out of there fast enough. I took my dogs and left immediately. I took Ellie to the vet. She had a severe infection, and a laceration that was very painful. Although the vet was not there and could not say for certain, she Does not believe that this injury stemmed from "Ellie rubbing her fur off". The owner of Lucky Dog Lodge as well as the daughter have given me several conflicting stories. I was told that she rubbed her own fur off, she had a yeast infection in her eye, she must have gotten something in her eye, and finally she must've been bit by a spider. I was told that the daughters husband was the only one that administered ear medication to my dog, the owner told me that she herself was the one that administered the ear drops. I was also told that when they let Ellie outside at 7:30 that morning ( Dec 27), her eye was not like that. I inquired as to how such a major injury had occurred in one hour and 40 minutes, I received no explanation. The vet determined that Ellie did not have an ear infection.The brand new bottle ($40) of ear medication that I sent with her was empty. Along with the injury to the eye, she also had a laceration on her foot. Neither dog has been the same since their return. Both dogs slept for several days straight. Sammi still cowers when I try to touch him. The experience has been traumatic for them! This experience has been traumatic for me! I will never forgive myself for putting my dogs in harms way. I struggled with whether to write this or not. I came to the conclusion that if this helps just one dog not get injured, it is worth it. I did receive a check from Lucky Dog Lodge for $500. Since posting this on my Facebook page, I have received several messages from people who had similar problems with this facility. read more

Only giving one star because I have to.I am writing this review for my beloved dachshund Otto who passed away last Dec. at the ripe old age of 17 1/2. This is the only time I felt I've ever let him down.Excuse the lengthy review but this place was wrong on so many levels.We boarded our dog here while on our wedding/honeymoon vacation. There were several red flags I should have noticed. I went to the facility before we boarded so the owner could meet my dog. He was 14 but in perfect health.She did not invite me to tour the facility to see where the dogs are kept. On the way out upon dropping my dog off I noticed the water bowl in his run was green with algae. I informed her she said her husband mowed the grass towards the runs. Well algae takes a while to accumulate. I worked at kennels and we always provided CLEAN bowls and fresh water. I specifically stated in my instructions that I did not want my dog around other dogs. Most reputable boarding kennels will not mix dogs as the potential for fights is high. When we went to pick up my dog he didn't act excited as he always had in the past. By the way when we were on vacation we were placated with sickenly sweet updates that everything was fine.After getting him home he still wasn't acting like his usual exuberant self. While petting him, I felt a scar on his neck. I proceeded to look him over and was horrified to see that he had several puncture wounds around the head/neck area. I sent her an email. Talk about blaming the victim, lying and patronizing denial!! She insisted he must gave been burrowing into his blanket and that's how it happened and that he was sad because I left him there.What a joke.I took him to my vet immediately where she confirmed they were bite wounds that were inflicted during his stay.Only after being confronted with this letter did she agree to pay the vet bill. I later found out that a small dog was killed while being boarded at this facility.Her excuse for that incident was that the dog must have somehow unlatched his gate. Don't walk away from this place. RUN. I have 10 years of experience as a vet tech and have about 15 yrs total experience working at kennels. She lied to the wrong person. I only wish I would have trusted my gut and not left him there to be attacked. I'm sorry Otto. I have copies of everything, so if anything is denied in rebuttal, I will provide them on this site including the review by the lady whose dog was killed which the kennel owner removed. This person has no business running a boarding kennel and is not able to accept the truth or take responsibility for what happens under her watch. ZERO STARS read more

We just lost our 10 year old lab Bella. We got her from Chris & from day one we always said she was the best dog EVER. Chris & her family care fiercely for each dog they bring into the world and for each dog that stays with them. I feel blessed to have had my dog, for how much love she gave to us & for how well she was cared for when we brought her back to stay with Auntie Chris. They took great pains to ensure that we would be a good family for their special dog. I could not recommend Chris as a breeder or as a caretaker more. I wish more people in the world could bring the joy that they do! Oh, and when we went to the "reunion", we could NOT believe how many well behaved, beautiful, sweet dogs there were. We bought our chocolate lab Murphy from Chris Anderson last year and have boarded him there at Lucky Dog Lodge twice since then. Chris and her family are very conscientious and passionate about all of the dogs that stay at their boarding facility. The schedule the dogs have there looks like a luxury spa weekend! Murphy is always excited to get there and comes back in great shape. We're thrilled with the quality of the dogs that Chris breeds and how she treats them at her boarding facility. read more
