My trainer, Cynthia Conde, has given me the confidence and "Game Plan", to lose weight and get back into shape. She is cognizant of my physical limitations, and works through them to accomplish my goals. The people that work for/train at the gym are friendly and non-judgemental, which is an important factor to me. BTW, I found the gym through two friends, who I didn't realize knew each other. I noticed that a work friend had lost weight over the summer. I asked her how and she told me she was training with Cynthia Conde at The Fitness Loft. I asked her why there? She related to me that she noticed that over a period of time her neighbor, who daily walks her dog past her house, was "shrinking". When she told me her name I realized I knew who she was and I too had seen her "transformation". But I thought she had lost her weight with Weight Watchers. Seems she needed something more and Cynthia Conde at The Fitness Loft was the answer. Needless to say I immediately joined! Also TCL holds a class for a local WW group. The gym is well equipped with cardio and weights and more. It's very clean and the off-street parking is very convenient. The staff and customers here are all friendly and welcoming. My "The Rock" story started here almost a year ago with my boyfriend. We were at another facility…read morethat closed. After speaking with Carlo and going over the program we joined and were excited to start. Carlo even made an additional night slot due to my work hours, not a lot of gyms had an after 6pm night slot so the 6:30pm class was created and we have been going ever since. A month or two into the program I had a prior knee issue that progressively began to get worse. In the mean time working with Dr's to find the best course of action I discussed this with Carlo as well as Tom and Janice to best fit every training session to the needs of my condition but still get the maximum workout possible and still hit my own personal fitness goals. Almost 9 months later modifying every workout and everyone of these trainers working with me every class I went in for a full knee replacement in July, summer 2022. 8 weeks later I am back in the gym modified again for now, until I am back to 100% but I can't thank each and everyone of them from the bottom of my heart because if it was not for them supporting me and tailoring my workouts once again after surgery so that I can still get the most out of it even with a knee not functioning at 100% prior and now after my replacement I would not be in the condition I am to return 8 weeks later. I can't speak enough about The Rock, CrossFit. The workouts are amazing and push your limits which is what everyone needs to truly see how far you can go and that's just in life as well. It's a family atmosphere where everyone is supporting everyone through the workouts and "No one gets left behind". My boyfriend and I looked at a lot of gym's and we can't recommend this gym enough if you are looking for something outside of your comfort zone and challenging as well as other classes that offer that nice balance. I would recommend trying a class you won't be disappointed maybe out of breath, lol. I have been struggling with weight loss for 4 years. I have never felt this good in years and for the first time have definition in my arms and legs that I have not seen in over 20 years. You owe it to yourself to be the best you. I have worked out my entire life and have belonged to gyms from the local YMCA, Gold's Gym, Jack La Lane, NYSC etc etc. It is at The Rock that I am attaining my fitness goals. Carlo, Larry and Tom have created not just a gym, but a community that is non-judgmental , helpful and supportive. The new facility is excellent, the members are awesome and the coaches will get you to where you need to be. you can stay fat and continue with your Zumba on a budget at your local gym. Or you can come to the Rock and get your money's worth and achieve your fitness goals. The Rock is money well spent.

They have provided me non stop assistance with the growth of both of my boys now 10 and 5 1/2. From the beginning in 2023, Sharon the past director made me a Helicopter mom not worry. Even to the point where in 2026, Sean (who is the current director), picked up from where Sharon left off. Sportime is now part of our family. The boys cant wait to go back. Now they don't have too because our boys will be taking tennis lesson this coming September. I thank all the coaches and counselor that provide a environment where my children are able to express themselves and learn something different than the norm of basketball and football.

Sportime Lynbrook is an okay place. Do not send your kid here if they play basketball. They must get another court because no way I have to pay well over $200 a month to barely be able to go basketball court if your son or daughter plays basketball I would not recommend sportime until they get another court. It's not fair that people youse the basketball court for everything else besides basketball.

I joined to swim, and the pool itself is excellent. The problem is what happens right before people get in: no one showers. I've seen people go straight from the basketball court, still schvitzing, into the jacuzzi (ew!). I've even seen lifeguards hop in without rinsing off. When even the referees aren't following the rules, as stated on the sign there, it's not a great sign. All this isn't exactly appetizing. I've lived abroad and traveled quite a bit, and there's a cultural aspect to this. In France, skipping the pre-swim shower is unthinkable. In Iceland, someone actually supervises your scrub-down before you're allowed into the hot pots. In Mexico City, where I swim in a private gym akin to the JCC, it's definitely enforced. In Japan--forget about it. I've raised this three times with Steve Miller, the director of health and wellness. His view is that they add enough chlorine to kill the germs and that people should know better, but there's no real way to enforce it--lifeguards need to watch the pool, not police showering. (Though they do other distracted things like testing the water.) His proposed solution has been new signage--but who knows when? And I'm skeptical a sign will succeed where social norms have failed. It comes down to education. Most people in the pool where caps, for instance. Why? That's what they were told. So, why not tell them to shower? It's simply a matter of priorities, which this doesn't seem to be. Maybe I'm the only one who cares--based on the evidence, that might be true. But for a place that does so many things right, this one issue, for me, is hard to ignore.

Firstly, the Union Square location is beautiful! I mean, once you get into the studio, there are lots of plants, great sunlight, and a surprising amount of space. I was pleasantly surprised by the zen-ness of the studio, especially in such a populated area. The class I had was good, but I don't think I'll be going back to this instructor. They kept making slightly off handed comments in my direction, and underestimating my Pilates ability! Without asking, they made my springs lighter, and I ended up not getting much of a workout at all. Oh well. I won't let that one experience ruin Body Evolutions for me; they just weren't the instructor for me. But I've loved all the other instructors I've had! I'd definitely recommend checking out this location for the aesthetic!

She really pushes me to be as strong as I can, while listening and under any limitations I may have- it's truly great. Her positivity and joy are infectious, and I love working with her. The other one was so light that I barely feel like I worked out at all. Phoenyx Fitness has been THE BEST one I have attended so far. For one, this truly is a "at your own pace" workout. My biggest grips with previous classes is that they either killed you and if you weren't prepared too damn bad, no pain no gain. The other was just you can work at your own pace but the instructor set such a low pace that it wasn't very challenging . You definitely get your money's worth with Malenna and the awesome instructors at Phoenyx (I've had most exposure with Kaelynn - sp?). I also started this in the summer so the classes are outdoors. The bad news is - it's rain or shine. the good news is, the classes keep you on your toes with differentiating workouts AND parks. I love when they are held on the UWS for selfish reasons (ha ha). The class runs by so quickly that before you know it, the hour is up. I especially love the 6 am classes - by 7 am you are completely done for the day. That is totally cool.

While most trainers are competent and nice to work with, some play music at excessively high volumes, to the point that members feel the need to use earplugs.
