I was sad to see 3 1-star reviews for the Health Center, and surprised. Yes, there are problems…read morewith ALL clinics these days. A major issue is the shortage of GPs. Doctors spend a fortune becoming doctors, and the only way they can pay that money back is to specialize; so too few become general practioners. Additionally, the computerization of our records was an essential step in appropriate care, but some doctors then spend their patient visits with their heads in the computer & not listening much to their patient. All that having been said, I have never been treated with anything but kindness and patience by the staff at NCFHC. Sometimes, someone might be having a bad day and not smiling, but their care has been efficient & their sadness or grumpiness has not rubbed off on me. It does take WEEKS to get in to see my doctor, and that's a negative; but it isn't the clinic's fault. Alternatively, they have a staff of urgent-care folks who can see walk-ins, so the disadvantage is ameliorated if my need is more immediate (though it doesn't work for refills! -- see below). My one agreement with other reviewers is how long it sometimes takes to get a refill on a controlled substance. I understand the need to "control" such prescriptions, but if you need to be seen before the 'scrip can be refilled & you can't get an appointment for weeks (always longer than a month now), then you will surely run out before you can be seen. Drugs that are supposed to be taken every day, consistently, are not helpful if you have to go off them while waiting for the 'scrip to filled again. You may go through a form of withdrawal, however mild it might be, and then a period of acclimating when you start up again. This sucks! Especially when it happens repeatedly. There must be a better way. On the whole, I like the service I get at the clinic. We're on "the Coast", peeps. It ain't like bein' in the Big City. And that's why we like it here. Generally.

If you know the anxiety that comes with chronic illness the you know finally having answers is a win and weight off the shoulders. Second visit again was just as great as the first. I was treated for my pain. I had different nurses and doctors this time . They were all wonderful, treated me with kindness and care. I've never felt like I was being mistreated or dismissed here.

They sent her home to die basically. Telling her if it doesn't get better to come back tomorrow to pay them more money for the job they didnt do the first time. What if there was no tomorrow because she drowned in the fluid that was built up in her lungs and died. My relative was NEGLECTED in the Emergency room and refused the X-Ray she requested. Was thay even a doctor? Stay clear of Howard Memorial, the hospital that doesn't care and is NOT thorough. Santa Rosa is the only place you can get proper treatment and care. Not with Adventist health. Save yourself the grief.

Dr Young has been seeing me for 5 years now. I'm writing to give my highest recommendation for Dr…read moreYoung . First the backstory: I have lived with chronic pain my entire life, literally from the day I was born. I have a congenital birth defect that was not diagnosed until I was 55 years old. Rather than making my pain better, the surgery they did to remove the mass they discovered in my pre-sacral body cavity turned out to dramatically increase it. During this time period, I was treated by the pain clinic at Stanford Hospital. They were excellent, and I felt Based on my experience that they deserved their reputation as one of the best pain clinics in the country. Still, my pain worsened Along with my PTSD and I ended up having to move from the congested mid-Peninsula Town of Palo Alto to Ukiah. I was referred to Dr Young and after literally Decades of seeing pain doctors either did not understand, did not deeply listen, or did not have their focus on me. Dr Young has helped me get off of methadone-It has been 3 years now. He has worked with me to find the most effective medication for procedure for me that has the lowest side effect and risk profile. He is always willing to offer me new ideas and possible solutions to my predicament. Perhaps the greatest thing he has given me is Hope. At one point I had an accidental overdose. When I woke up in the emergency room the first face I saw was Dr Young at my bedside. He reached over and gave me a deep long hug. Not the kind of thing a doctor does. I start to cry when I think about it now. He stayed within healthy doctor/patient boundaries yet managed to give me a level of support I did not receive from anyone in my family.

He actually pulls his chair closer ( before C19) to talk to you, so you really know he listens. He continually expands his knowledge in the field of pain management, networking with colleagues (friends) from even Japan for me. He's brilliant and wants to work with you not just for you. If he, or I, had to move, I'd drive to wherever he is for appointments . He works 24 hours a day I think. You become a team for your health & if you are willing to put the work in you will get better. He has told me I should have been in a walker or more years ago. I told him I'm too stubborn for that. Some days it is hard to get out of bed I'min so much physical pain whereupon, I've called him on weekends or after hours and he has never derided me for calling & always supportive and caring, wanting to help. If you are really a team player, get a referral if he is still accepting. Get ready to not just take pills...
