If I could give this school a 0-star rating, I would. This was a deeply disturbing experience, and…read moreI won't waste time on superficial complaints. Instead, I want to highlight the serious, often dangerous issues that students face at Bodwell High School. 1. Medical Negligence and Harm The medical staff--Ms. Joell and Ms. Shayla--are completely unprofessional and, in my opinion, unfit to care for students. While it's normal for nurses to assess if someone is truly unwell, these women go far beyond that into harmful disbelief and negligence. A girl with a documented fainting condition informed them she was about to pass out. They accused her of faking. She fainted and was sent to the hospital. Afterwards, the staff lied to her parents, saying she never warned them, despite clear text evidence. Another student with a severe eye condition was told by Ms. Shayla that she was "fine." Ms. Shayla literally Googled symptoms instead of seeking proper care, gave the student the wrong eye drops, and caused her severe pain and damage. 2. Cover-Up of a Potential School Shooting One of the most disturbing incidents involved a male student who brought guns and knives to campus and planned to target a female student. Thankfully, his roommate reported him. The girl was barricaded in her room for safety, and the student was arrested. Instead of addressing this openly, Bodwell staff attempted to cover up the incident and lied to the girl's parents, despite overwhelming evidence. The school prioritized its reputation over student safety and truth. 3. Discrimination and Mistreatment of Disabled Students Another student with a neurological condition was reportedly removed from the school due to circumstances beyond her control. Though I don't know all the details, I can confirm that she was harshly criticized and publicly gossiped about by Bodwell staff. The lack of empathy and professionalism shown by teachers and staff was deeply concerning. False rumors were even spread by faculty members themselves. 4. Incompetent and Offensive Teaching Staff Bodwell's educational quality does not match the high tuition fees: Some teachers are entirely unqualified and incapable of teaching. One teacher was heard repeatedly using the N-word in class. Students are left struggling, with poor academic guidance. 5. Toxic Environment and Student Depression This school has a mental health crisis: Nearly everyone is depressed, and the environment is isolating and emotionally unhealthy. Cultural cliques dominate the social scene--if you don't fit in with students from your country, you're ostracized. Many students reported feeling hopeless and alone. 6. Exploitation of International Students During the Iran conflict, Iranian students were told: They had to pay $100 per night to stay at the school post-term (fair enough). However, they were also forced to work unpaid from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, essentially used as free labor. This is appalling, especially since these students were emotionally distraught and unable to contact family due to internet blackouts in Iran. 7. Scandals, Drugs, and Security Breaches Weed was regularly smoked and smuggled on campus. Nudes were leaked--not due to consensual sharing, but because students were ambushed in the showers and filmed. This happened multiple times and was not handled properly by staff. 8. Extracurricular Failures Athletic programs are severely underfunded and poorly managed. The music department gets no support, except for the efforts of Ms. Michelle Melnick--the only staff member who truly seemed to care. Mr. Jessie from the media team was always unprepared and forgetful, making projects feel disorganized. Final Verdict: This school is a mess. The staff lack compassion and professionalism, the students are miserable, and the administration prioritizes reputation over lives. It's a fever dream of dysfunction and danger. I rest my case.

    1. One year study on Bodwell is about $50 000 for international students. 3 term per year. Apx $25…read more000 tuition and $25 000 for all other. It is extremely expencive. 2. Before admittion Bodwell promised that 2 term will be enought to University preparation. After payment, 2 terms becomes to 5. Student's TOEFL level before Bodwell was 5.5 3. We paid all 5 term for dormitory accommodation. But after 3 term Bodwell relocated our daughter to homestay without (!) our permission! Without refunding (!) the extra money. 4. They not prepare the student to the University. 5. Always changes something which cost money. For example, suddenly you should pay $200 per term for computer. Suddenly your own computer not allow to use. But you bought it for study and it met all technical requirements. No mater. You should pay more and more always. 6. It was very bad and very expencive experience. We'll report a complaint to the government of Canada about poor quality of education in Bodwell High School.

Our child had also outgrown their existing day care - the children were well taken care of but our child was ready for a more stimulating experience. Our future vision for our child's education also involved French Immersion. It was through random word-of-mouth that Cousteau was recommended to us. We haven't looked back. The small class sizes. The celebration and embrace of French culture. The 8 a.m. child care. The report cards. The after school clubs that introduced our child to ballet, soccer, music, math, stories from around the world and cooking (at 3 years old!). The daily surprise of discovering our child has learned something new (yes dear that is the Canadian flag!). We began our Cousteau journey believing we would leave after pre-school. The superior educational experience (especially when compared to what we learned about other French Immersion options on the North Shore) and the on-going development we see in our child has convinced us to stay long-term. I have clear memories of being terrified of school during my first day of Kindergarten. Our child has no such fears, puts on her backpack and is proud to go to school every day. She is so far beyond my development at the same age it's incredible. I encourage anyone considering Cousteau to go to an open house, or register for their summer camps to give the school a try. It's worth it.
