Looked on here and on Trip Advisor - Langue Appart' was rated highest on both. So I signed up hoping it would be good; instead it was excellent! I wound up taking a bit less than three months of classes and was stunned at how much progress I made thanks to Mélanie's teaching. She has a tremendous gift for knowing the right level of challenge for students, and explained all of the concepts clearly. The other students in my class and I were serious about becoming fluent, so she pushed us much harder than I expected, but was also endlessly patient even when we forgot things repeatedly. It was wonderful to learn more quickly than I had imagined was possible - all the French friends I made in Paris were shocked at how good my French was for such a short period of study! :) I also loved my fellow students - our classwork kept us engaged because in addition to useful phrases and words we were given the opportunity to share (with no pressure to be deep) about ourselves, our cultures, and our perspectives using whatever grammar we were learning at the moment. Even more fun because we were all from different parts of the world! I don't usually write reviews but am happy to make an exception for Langue Appart'! PS. The other teacher, Michael, seemed like he was really good too; I met some of his students and they were very happy with their experiences as well. And Carolina, the admin, was incredibly supportive and went out of her way to be generously helpful to me multiple times. If you choose to go, j'espère que vous apprécierez aussi!

The group lessons were well structured with clear goals and a little homework to reinforce what we had learned. Bryan let the conversation flow (all in French) and then took a pause to correct us individually - pronunciation, grammar and expression. It was an intimate class and I felt really at ease - challenged but encouraged! And the other students were really great. The individual lessons with Melanie were more conversational. The first day we worked on "la vie quotidienne" - I was so shocked at the holes in my vocabulary when I tried to describe making pasta - but now I know. We discussed art, culture, politics (I was there during the election so it could not be ignored) and our last day we had a pot luck "pause dej." with students from all the classes. The school is small and the caring and really affordable. A perfect fit for me. Can't wait to return. Merci équipe Langue Appart'

Luc was our guide and chef, and did a really great job. We enjoyed shopping for ingredients at the market just a few blocks away from the Le Foodist kitchen. Once back to the kitchen, Luc gave us the run down of what we would be making. Instructions were clear, and we all worked together to put a 3 course lunch together. I even learned a few cool new techniques such as a simple "sous vide" by tightly wrapping chicken in plastic wrap and cooking in hot water. Fun, educational and delicious. They offer a variety of different classes and I would highly recommend when visiting Paris.

She was such a great teacher and had us laughing at our poor techniques (my boyfriend managed to make a baguette look like a peanut, and I made a dinner roll that looked like a volcano with a dimple!) and helped fixed our techniques so our breads came out looking professional! This was the highlight of my trip to Paris and I truly cannot wait to come back to take more classes here. Thank you Florence, for your hospitality and advice, we truly loved everything about your class!

Each of our lessons flew by quickly. She tailored each class to what I was interested in learning and answered all of my questions about different scenarios as well as general q's of living in Paris. She was flexible with scheduling all of our times together and easy to work with through e-mail. Her willingness to travel to my apartment also made taking the classes much easier on myself. Highly recommended! If you're in Paris and need a french tutor, Caroline is the perfect choice and worth every penny.

She encouraged me to parler francais as much as I could. She also spent time walking and talking and enjoying Paris with me. We shopped at at fresh produce market, ate some wonderful eastern foods and toured a small musee in Montmarte! I stayed in a great little hotel just blocks from her apartment. I planned my stay around her location and was not disappointed in the neighborhood, her tutoring or my entire experience! I know I returned home a little more comfortable with my pronunciations. I would recommend Caroline as she structured her lessons around my needs and comfort level.

This is not the greatest school. The standards of academics are very low. The school board doesn't…read morecare about the education of the existing students, just about accepting more and more new students. The class sizes have become much bigger than was promised, and there aren't enough classrooms or laptops for the abundance of students. Also, only the grade 6 and 7 students get to really eat lunch in the lunch room, as grade 8 and 9 are not allowed in until 12:45 and by then all the food has been eaten by the younger kids (there is no kitchen in the school). The sports and ECAs are also pretty dismal. Teachers don't use textbooks at all. There also isn't much communication with the parents, and the school nurse is never there. There are also discipline issues and behavioural issues. There are rumours that the kids in the primary are reading and doing maths that is two years behind other schools. For the amount of money we pay, students don't get a lot of things. You have to buy your own school supplies, laptop, school meals (often students spend 100 euros in two months on cold, overpriced and unhealthy garbage meals such as paninis and donuts), as well as a 75 euro calculator (all of which the school should be providing for the extortianate amount of money we pay). As well as all of this, the outdoor space is pathetic and crowded. The school doesn't take it's students out to a park like it used to. The lockers are also tiny and do not fit the many, MANY notebooks students are forced to buy. The sports facilities are non existant. Students have to travel one hour by bus once a week for 1 hour of PE, and then one hour back. They are assessed on their essay writing skills for sports rather than physical activity. However, students do say that the pastoral care is good and that most staff are commited to wellbeing. Most students make good friends, and the diploma programme is supposed to be quite good. Their design department is EXCELLENT (teachers are very committed). Overall, this school is alright if you are looking for just a short stay in Paris, as the students are used to new people and they can make friends rapidly. However, if you are looking for something more academically rigorous, there are better schools in and around Paris. Consider these points before enrolling your child in the International School of Paris (particularly the Primary and Middle schools).
