I am very saddened and disappointed. I was born and raised in Lubbock, moved to Austin at 18 and Colorado at 29; I just moved back to be close to family and started a delivery subscription of the LAJ. Its been a month and a couple weeks and I have canceled my subscription. Apparently, the Avalanche no longer has Lubbock writers; they take articles from the national "USA TODAY", "associated press" network, copy and paste, charge you and pat themselves on the back. The articles they choose to publish are pure leftist propaganda. Here is some of what I've seen... headlines and quotes: "extremism now making its way to school board meetings" (referring to parents upset about schools teaching "Critical Race Theory" and that white people and capitalism are inherently evil and rotten to the core; imagine what that does to children), numerous jabs at President Trump while covering for VP biden, "Abbott says Texas will 'eliminate' all rapists". It's a joke and there is an agenda. I will never give them another dime. I am extremely disgusted and saddened by the lack of Critical Thinking, Fact and Statistic based discussion and the complete and total Lunacy, Lies, Speculation, Partisanship and Attacks from the main stream media. It's absolutely disgusting and honestly, it's just plain evil... all of these people should be ASHAMED of themselves; I truly don't know how they look themselves in the mirror but that does explain a whole lot. We signed up for Sunday/Holiday only delivery a few years ago. Last week, I noticed that since April 2018, the AJ was billing me twice each month for our subscription. Last Friday I called to find out what was going on. Apparently, in April of this year, new owners took over the AJ and started offering "Premium Editions" along with their normal issues. These Premium Editions cost between $3-$5 extra depending on the content. That extra cost was eating up my subscription balance and that's why they were billing me twice. I told the lady at customer service to cancel the Premium Editions. I don't want them, we never read them and in fact I could not even recognize one if I saw it. She told me there was no way to cancel them because we are now passed the "opt-out" period. So I told her to cancel my whole subscription as I will not be forced to pay for something I don't want. She spun me around all kinds of excuses before I told her to get a supervisor on the line. After an 8 min hold, she came back on to tell me no supervisors were free and one would call me back. I got the supervisors name, Brittany, and said we will see what happens. Well, obviously I never got my call. read more

I have subscribed since we moved here over 25 years ago. The content gets less and less. It is now filled with leftist articles from the AP and far left editorials. This is NOT what we are about in West TEXAS. Then they got rid of Kerns and decided they didn't need local coverage of events. That is the ONLY reason to have the paper especially since the rest of the paper is nothing but leftist propaganda from other sources. Today I went to suspend my subscription for a vacation period. It took forever on the web site to find where to do this and no phone numbers anywhere. Then once found, it wouldn't let me stop the paper except for two days AFTER I needed it to stop. I emailed and never heard back. I have had it with this rag and am canceling. I will stick with FREE on-line news from reputable sites. read more

My business has subscribed to the AJ for many years. I have a group of men that come by and drink coffee and the read the paper. Over the last several month the carrier does not throw the paper and after many times calling the circulation department, I get the same results. They say that they will notify the circulation manager and that person will call me (I have not had a single call ) and that the carrier will be charged for not throwing the paper. If that is truly the case then that carrier is losing money. When (and not very often) the paper does get delivered they will roll up several previous days papers (old news). It really seems that the AJ is wanting to get away from offering the printed version of the paper and forcing people to just read it online. That's not going to happen at my business. We are lifelong residents of Lubbock and don't ever remember a time without the AJ, however, I won't subscribe again! After multiple issues with incorrect billing, and delivery issues (not receiving the paper several times per month) we have learned our lesson. When we call to address the issue, we end up speaking to someone in Georgia, or Florida, who ALWAYS promise we will hear back from a manager to resolve the issue, but that NEVER happens. If you want the AJ, buy it from those who sell it on the corner, it's the only way to guarantee you're dealing with someone local and there won't be any mistakes! read more

Was a daily subscriber for many years -- then I changed my subscription to Sunday-only to save money. Then, without my approval, my plan was changed to something where I am being charged $35 a month for Sunday delivery -- more than I was being charged for Mon-Fri delivery! They don't seem willing to refund the money either. Very disappointed, and don't understand how they can stay in business. read more

I have lived in Lubbock several times and have always subscribed to the AJ. The last time I returned to Lubbock was in 1987. I again subscribed to the AJ. As the years went by the content of the newspaper and the home delivery service declined to the point where I canceled my subscription. That was about 5 years ago (maybe longer). Several weeks ago the AJ had a special offer of 10 weeks for $30.00. Since the ownership of the paper had changed, I thought I should give the paper another chance. I went online and subscribed. I was disappointed as the content had not improved. I never received a bill. So today I called and was informed that my subscription had been canceled because I had not paid for my subscription and I owed $8.95 for the issues that had been delivered (6 issues). After discussing the situation with the person on the phone I decided to cancel the subscription, paying for the delivered issues with my credit card. NEVER AGAIN. read more
