If searching for an orthodontist, skip past this name and search for someone else. I would give less than one star if I could. He "worked" on my kid's teeth for 5 years. All he did was tighten braces. Never took one x-ray. Was supposed to be taking x-rays all along. Never kept in touch with her regular dentist. Was supposed to do that all along. Never bothered to tell her she has a mouth full of cavities forming under and around her brackets, until we were shocked to see giant black spots everywhere after braces came off. Never did anything to assess or correct her bite, and left her with a giant overbite. Now her teeth don't line up properly when she chews, or bites down, so that each time she does, she is pushing her teeth out at a severe and unhealthy angle, and eroding her teeth, which would also ultimately leave her in pain. Left her teeth erupted. Never discussed any of these issues, just eye-balled everything and says little to nothing. This is the laziest dentist in town who will do little to nothing for you, other than give you the appearance of straight teeth, while leaving your teeth and bite as unhealthy as possible. Now he uses Covid as an excuse to keep parents out of room and never speak to you. He collects his money and beyond that, he doesn't give a crap about you. After scaring my kid into thinking she might lose 11 teeth because the cavities were so bad, (the ones he should have been noticing and telling her about) taking thousands of dollars, and 5 years of her childhood, she now has to start all over again financially and otherwise with a new orthodontist to correct the erupted teeth and misaligned bite. Other reviews are correct where he does not speak to you at all about plan of action or say ANYTHING informative or educational to you. Just look at his outdated waiting area and you'll see he's too cheap to buy modern equipment to take X-rays. Either he's a regular person posing as a dentist, scamming everyone, or he's a bad person deliberately engaging in malpractice, scamming everyone. Either way, he doesn't care about you or your child. If you love paying for braces TWICE, or adding 18 months-3 years extra onto your treatment with a second orthodontist, go here.

I went in thinking I needed a retainer but Dr Mathias explained the purpose of each device and what I needed to accomplish my goal. To my surprise, they were able to fit me for my in Invisalign and it arrived before the other orthodontists could even see me for a consult. During both visits, they immediately took me back and the entire office staff was very friendly and accommodating. I have since recommended others to Dr. Mathias. I also researched and determined that much of the success of braces requires discipline on the part of the person wearing them. If you don't follow the rules 100%, you don't get 100% of the results. It's a two-way street.

There were major issues from the start with them never verifying my insurance benefits, then many scheduling hiccups because they are only in Mechanicsburg two days a week on a schedule that rotates every four weeks. They regularly offer me appointments in Carlisle, which is too far to drive for a 10-minute appointment. The last issue was the confusing way I felt I was basically tricked into buying a second retainer when one was already factored into my upfront costs. The staff seems to turn over so often that I hardly ever saw the same people there from one appointment to the next. My teeth look great, but the whole experience left me feeling a sense of "Buyer Beware"!
