Short staffed. Checkout process is understaffed...always pushing Lowes card but not handling customers.

Excellent service from start to finish. Purchased a washer on Monday, it's now 8:15am on Wednesday and I have already started a load of laundry. The sales associate made the process of purchasing easy, he was knowledgeable and courteous. The delivery/installation process was one of the best I have experience. I was sent texts with updates, Hector and his helper were cautious, timely, efficient and very polite. Thumbs up all the way around. read more

What is going on with Lowe's regarding employees, multiple installation fees and a website that is very frustrating? We went to the Culpeper store to purchase a Kohler toilet. I had researched and chosen one and also chose installation from them. The installation price on the website was $175.00. The Associate rang everything up on the computer in the Plumbing Dept. They said the toilet was not in stock but would be delivered to the store. No problem. They got to the installation cost and it showed $233.00! I said the website showed $175. Another associate started researching and saw for a split second the $175 installation cost also but couldn't get it to show on the price breakdown. Since the toilet wasn't in stock I couldn't pay for anything yet. Started to get very frustrated. I then was told I would have to go to Stafford Lowe's to pick up toilet. I said no way that was happening. I left. Here's the kicker! I went home, got on the computer and bought a better toilet that was in stock at Lowe's Culpeper and got the installation. It was $210, not $233 or $175. This took all of 5 minutes after I was in the store for 40 minutes. Lowe's no longer uses local contractors and all installs of anything have to go through Angi's/Handy. I received a text from them giving me a date and time and the name and number of the contractor. I called the contractor to verify the date and time. Call was answered by a woman that just said "Hello", no company name. I explained to her why I was calling. She then said "we haven't done installs for Lowe's in over a year". Long story short Lowe's and its website along with employees who aren't familiar with the products needs a lot of help. Customer service from Lowe's and Angi's leaves a lot to be desired. And Lowe's can't figure out why they're losing their loyal customer base to Home Depot!. I was able to find what i needed and don't mind prices. I know its the way things are but it took almost 30 minutes to get through checkout. Not a fan of that. One check out person and the self checkout people don't know how to look up some of the more complicated items like loose screws and other items i was buying. read more

Purchased a new hose bib from here. Great decent price. I've seen some hose bibs go for over $40 and around $30 something. But this one I purchased was only $28 dollars. Great price. I didn't like the female pex adapter that came with it because there was a plastic piece so I also purchased a different type of pex female adapter. I applied plumbing tape and pipe dope on the cap above the spigot and I applied tape and dope there too at the end where I attached the pex female adapter. Worked out fantastic. So far no more dripping leaks like I had with the old hose bib that was there before. I looked up reviews on this product at lows. Good outweighed the Bad I believe there was 12 good and 7 bad reviews so I decided to take a chance since more good reviews on the product. I read in some of the bad reviews that it leaked. I think In my own opinion that the leaks were occurring due to the plastic piece that comes with it which I chose not to use. Maybe people cross threaded the piece by mistake or on accident. I got a female pex adapter all brass material. It's best to use metal on metal then plastic on metal due to cross threading issues at times. Just some advise. read more

Customer service is hit or miss. I scheduled someone to come do measurements of all windows in our new home. I picked the time window of 1 to 5 pm. The guy called at 11:30 and showed up at noon. So I missed him. He said he didn't know about that time window. So I texted him my confirmation email. So I recommend only scheduling someone if you have all day to be on site. Contractors must think people have time to just sit home all day twiddling their thumbs apparently. read more

Ahh Lowe's. Always there when one needs some little doodad or perhaps a seedling or two. But appliances? Nyet. Our 15+ year-old range gave up the ghost unexpectedly the week before last, so we stopped by looking for a very basic good old-fashioned electric-coil range (which is the type I grew up with & have turned out some pretty damn good food over the years). There were THREE gentlemen manning the appliance department. Let's call them "Moe", "Larry", & "Curly", which should automatically tell you how our experience went. The range that we had seen online looked suspiciously crappier in real life, & the model number was slightly different, yet "Moe" couldn't figure out why. And when we asked "Larry" when - crappy or not - we might expect to get the model, we were told - wait for this - that WE WOULD HAVE TO CALL GENERAL ELECTRIC OURSELVES in order to get that information. I kid you not. WE would have to phone the supplier to find out when they could ship the range to Lowe's. ARE YOU KIDDING ME????!!!!????? Even wearing a mask, I could tell that my husband was going apoplectic. So we drove over to the nearest Home Depot (Warrenton, VA), where we were met by two friendly, masked employees who immediately found the differences in the quality of the two different models of the range we were interested in, got us the higher-quality one, contacted GE & set up a delivery date for the following week. Slam-dunk, done. Lowe's - I will NEVER shop your store for anything other than doodads & seedlings again. read more

This is the best Lowe's I have been to in a long time. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. I came in late on a Friday night looking for several parts and I met up with Mr. Clyde in hardware and he immediately knew how to solve my problem and he gathered all the parts for me in a matter of five minutes. I appreciate it so much and I called him my God saving angel. If you need anything that needs fixing or just adding new things to your home this is the Lowe's to go to. This store is terrible! Never anyone to help find anything or always out of stock. Managed terribly! Purchased a microwave for Christmas, after Christmas needed to bring it back as a return. The person I got it for, got another one as a present. When I tried to return it 7 days later unopened still in the same exact box. Still in the back of my SUV, they would not take it back! Horrible service! My first time ever at Lowes was a reminder why I remain faithful to Home Depot! An orange apron is reliable, informative, and speedy. I was shopping for paints and the paint attendant- Hope, was on her phone ignoring all of her surroundings. I asked her if chalk paints were sold here and if so, where. Her response was "Yeah they're over there where I saw you before" and pointed with her finger. She then continued to talk to her male friend- who is also a Lowe's employee. As I walked away he said to her "Only thirty more minutes". This location needs to do a better job at employing artisans, enthusiasts, or just people who strive to make customers happy. would leave less if I could. Went in to the store to purchase doors. All the doors we wanted we physically put hands on and purchased. The store was to deliver them on 2/5. After an hour trying to check out we finalized the purchase but they made 2 mistakes that the sales person was going to take care of as we were ,due to their inability to be efficient, in a time crunch. Fast forward 2 weeks to 2:30 today when we get an email saying that our doors were not available that the earliest they could be delivered is now Feb 12,2024. Immediately call and get the manager involved. He asked if he could call us in 15 min so he could investigate. 45 min later we have to call him. His response, well there was a small snafu, nothing we can do. The doors we bought are indeed in stock, with our names on them. The " computer " set the delivery from Sterling Va, not Culpeper. We saw what was put in the computer, it was indeed the Culpeper store. . The demeanor alone was enough to place the 0 stars, let alone to totality of the event. So, we are now driving 35 min to Lowe's Culpeper, to see just how little there really is. If things change, I'll update with a new review. read more

Getting items delivered is a different story. this is unacceptable my time frame was when it was promised on the 20th and they had the units.I explained you do not offer the customer a cheaper unit people have complained about and that is smaller. Never have had a problem with the customer service or the products from Lowe's. That being said, again yet another store that does NOT enforce mask wearing when the law clearly states they have to. How is it during a pandemic that you can find not one, not two, but over 20 people not wearing a mask. Zero enforcement, people crowding together, some of them coughing maskless! The state requires mask wearing at all times while in retail stores and restaurants, its mandatory, and you the store are supposed to enforce it period! I have been trying since July 7, 2020 to get a refund on a bathroom vanity that was returned. We are talking $1,900. They keep putting me off and I called again today (8/13/2020) and they are telling me 28 business days. Customer service is horrible. In this day and age when charges are collected immediately and it would take over 2 months to get a refund is just wrong. That's a lot of money. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Purchased a John Deere S100 and had them load it into my Pickup. Took Three Men to do that and brough it home and unloaded it by backing the truck into a ditch. Started it up and the motor ran well but stalled as soon as I took my foot off the Break. after several attempts and filling the gas tank it still would not stay running. I finally looked under the seat and found that the pressure switch was laying loose under the seat. Without this switch the mower will not move. So, we went to Lowes the following day and explained the situation to Customer service who asked one of the managers to talk to us. She asked what we wanted to do so I said we would like to exchange it for one that works. In order to do that I would have to bring the broken mower in so they could order a new one. I explained that to unload a broken mower from my Pickup is easy using gravity but loading a broken one is a problem for an Eighty-Year-old Man. Why not order a new one and when they deliver it they will have the equipment and manpower to pick up the broken one. She would not consider that option! So, I had to go and borrow a trailer and take the junk they sold me back to the store! read more

I ordered flooring about a month ago and they first gave me a delivery date of Sept 28th so I took the day off of work for them to call me at 5pm and tell me that the material didn't come in (ok Kinda understood) they told me they would deliver that follow Tuesday ok so no biggie I took off Tuesday. I get a call at 3pm and ONCE AGAIN they tell me it won't be til Monday next week. They have the worse customer service. The communication is crap! My husband and I were extremely impressed with the young lady named Liz in the appliance section today. We already knew exactly what we wanted but we were just waiting for the washer and dryer to go on sale to make our purchase. We went in today because of the Labor Day Sales but found a lot of other folks apparently did the same thing. Liz was helping another customer with her order and there was one other person in front of me. No other help was in site. As I stood there waiting my turn, I noticed three other people had arrived and we were all just sort of standing there hovering awaiting our various turns. In spite of being totally swamped with no one to help her (when I asked about the lack of help she said the "specialist" was on lunch break) Liz remained friendly, helpful and showed no signs of being flustered or overwhelmed by the number of folks waiting. She was polite and efficient to all of us and deserves a big thank you from Lowe's. She certainly received a big thank you from me. Lowe's, you have an awesome employee there! By the way, this review would have garnered 5 stars from me based on Liz alone, but I had to deduct one star for the store not having the sense to man their appliance section better on a busy sales weekend! read more

Poor Customer Service. I went to Lowe's in Culpeper one Sunday around noon to purchase a new dishwasher, dryer, washer, water softener and Water filtration system for my home. I went back to the appliances to take a look at what I wanted. There were not many people in the store at that time and I had a couple questions about the delivery service, so I found someone back in the department and explained what I was interested in and that I just a few questions. He was very brief and seem like he didn't want to be bothered. I ended up leaving and purchasing everything I needed from Home Depot in Warrenton and I had a wonderful experience. read more

RUN!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY!! It is with regret that I even have to type this. I am a repeat customer of the lowes in Culpeper, Va. I just had my carpet replaced about 6 months ago. This last one takes the cake. We initially went to lowes on May 2. They had availability for our privacy fence for that Monday May 4th at 3 pm. All set..the day of Mr. Weaver calls in the am to see if he can come earlier because he has a 3 pm appt?? (We are the 3 pm) Anyway... he comes out. We have a copy of the plot survey we show him pictures of what we want and fence. He measures the full yard. He tells my husband the price $2510.00. He said when he got back to the office that day he would send it to us. Well, that didn't happen. My husband was so eager and I said, well lets give them at least 24 hrs. No estimate. So a few days later after no followup, my husband calls Mr. Weaver and advised we needed the estimate. He later sends the estimate. It was just an email stating fence/special order door/materials etc. for the prices stated but less discounts. (NO drawing) Here we go again.... I had to prod him just to find out what the other discounts was and other options like trim. He did not offer any trim and stuff so I asked about it. We told him we wanted to proceed. Then he tells us that he had to come back out because he is missing 50ft of fence?? How? You have our plot survey and you have measured? He was trying to bait and switch us to increase the price!! Illegal and unethical! We went to lowes to speak to the Manager who pawned us off on a nice Gentleman Chris who said he was a manager. Long story short, they agreed to honor the price that they gave! There have been other red flags... to many to name. But another big no no is we paid in full, signed contract, we are moving along. We get a phone call from the contractor Lowes has hired. Wanting us to help or go get the Permits!! .(this was another issue that I wasn't going to mention, but this was an issue as well) He also stated that he needed a copy of the survey plot and drawing of the fence because he couldn't get it from Mr. Weaver! Not again....Mr. Weaver told us everything was complete and that his supervisor would be handling. Mrs. Bacon called us on sunday morning around 9. We immediately called her back and left a message about this. Did we hear back from her... NOPE. Fast forward, we are completing the HOA application and they need a drawing of the fence with measurements! (What the contractor was stating he couldn't get from Mr. Weaver. What Mr. Weaver never provided to us.) Its a complaint to Mrs. Bacon, she only responds through email that someone should be calling by the end of the day and if not to call her back! Well, we received the drawing with the dimensions and it did not include a section that is backed to my neighbors fence. I inquired about this and he said that this changes things, I have to come out and remeasure. (Which again is ludicrous because you have been out 2 times already to measure. He states you cannot put a fence right up to the neighbors without a 2ft buffer (lie...thats not how everyone in my neighborhood has it)Now.. this wasn't included....He told my husband that he did not walk the yard with him. So... If he was missing 50 ft of fencing the first time and he came back out to remeasure the second time... What measurements did he get? Lying.... This is dishonest and Thieving. I cannot even tell you all of the problems this has caused. Doug supervisor never called us back. I asked for Her supervisors info and the Corporate office. I should have complained a long time ago. If I had not seen that drawing Lowes would have ripped us off on honoring they're deal that we had to argue they honor in the first place. There are so many things wrong like why did Doug intentionally not give a drawing until the last minute? Weeks after we paid? We have a door that they advised is custom which is stated in the contract but not that we are getting a partial fence. If this is what was discussed then why the 1st time I see the drawing I bring it to his attention? Stay away! Unethical business practices and they do not know how to retain business! I have a slew of emails backing everything I said. I am also going to go through my video footage and ask my neighbor if they have video of him measuring our yard the first 2 times. A complete mess! I had another estimate from somewhere else a few days after lowes. I had them quote the same exact thing and they did it with the back to the neighbors fence and inverted the wall facing us. Simple. I had him quote the same thing we had Doug do. Shame on you lowes for allowing an employee to low ball, give a contract, have a customer pay, and attempt multiple times to price gouge them later! Do not buy appliances at Lowes in Culpeper! They use outsourced delivery people, XPO Logistics in Sterling. They damaged my parents yard by backing thru the grass instead of staying on the driveway. When my 70 year old father ran out waving his arms to stop them the driver got out and cursed him. My mother and two electricians witnessed this. After telling them to leave or law enforcement would be called the driver cursed and left. A call to the manager Joey at Lowes was a waste of time. He said they don't work directly for us and I have no control over them. He didn't even call my parents to aplolgize. They've spent thousand at lowes on their new home and this is the customer service they get. They have contacted law enforcement for charges of curse and abuse and destruction of property for the damage to their yard. Shop Home Depot! read more

Most employees are friendly enough but too often they are not exactly knowledgeable enough to answer even basic questions. A little more time & effort put towards employee training would benefit everyone. Finding in-store service is hit or miss, but the appliance department has to be the worst of the bunch. If you can find someone don't expect them to actually be interested in helping you even if they are aware that you are interested in purchasing a major appliance then & there. For the most part we have ended up either buying my appliances at the Gainesville Lowes (40 minutes away but better selection and MUCH better customer service) or at a different retailer. We have dealt with both Lowes delivery and their "installation services" and have little good to say about either. Avoid them if you have other options . read more

Would give zero stars if I could. Worst customer service imaginable. I purchased 4 separate items online for a total of over $2,000 worth of material and supplies and selected delivery to the store for pickup. I was notified by email that my items were ready for pickup, and I went to the store in Culpeper the next morning. I arrived at 8:05am, and went to the customer service desk. The clerk there who was not doing anything told me that she doesn't handle pickups, and I needed to walk all the way around to the other side of the customer service desk and face another direction. I did that, and the other person behind the service counter was on the phone. And stayed on the phone for almost another 10 minutes while I waited. Meanwhile, I tried talking to the original customer service counter person and asked if she could possibly help me, but she said that wasn't her job. So 11 minutes later, the person was finally off the phone and ready to assist me. I gave her my 4 ticket numbers and she said she would meet me on the other side of the store with my items on a forklift. 52 minutes later and after speaking with the store manager, my items finally arrived. The Soviet Union had better customer service representatives at their empty stores than this place did. And it was 8am-ish on a Friday morning, not exactly noon on a Saturday. The store was practically empty of customers. Worst...experience...ever. If Lowe's hadn't effectively killed all of their mom-and-pop store competition in Culpeper, I would happily never go there ever again. Frankly, given their exceptionally craptacular level of customer service and employee motivation levels, I'm better off just buying everything I need online at Amazon and using Prime shipping. Constantly out of stock of normal items. Their board cutting saw is often out of service. If you need any special service the employee to help is often working in a different department, so you will have to wait. I now make a longer drive to visit Home Depot. read more

Purchased a refrigerator recently and the in-store experience was satisfactory. We had done some research and had a pretty definite idea of what we wanted so sales person didn't have to do much. Had doors locked as we tried to pay in garden center. We parked there we asked if we could pay at register real fast considering we had my 90 year old grandfather with us. We were parked 50 feet from door. Lady told us no. So we had to walk all the way to the front. It took us twice as long to get car than should have. I was assured a new one would be delivered on Sunday. Received no call from delivery company. Called to verify delivery. Again, repeatedly disconnected, unsure if refrigerator was on truck, promised a call back. One hour and a half later no return call. Called again, everyone is at lunch. Really poor customer service. Horrible customer service. I purchased a patio door and they were supposed to install it. The door arrived 2 week later as expected to the Lowes store and it's now 3 weeks after the arrival of the door and I'm still waiting on a phone call to set up a date for installation. If I could give zero to negative feedback I would. I have never been treated so poorly by a company in my life and the worst part is all of the issues were their own doing. They lied about when our materials would be delivered then our materials were damaged when they arrived. I contacted them multiple times throughout and they couldn't have cared less. We were told repeatedly that they would get back to us but no one bothered. I spend a lot of money in their store but will no longer. Home Depot is only a little further from my house and they've never given me any issues so now they can have my business. May 4, 8:30 in the morning. Needed some T1-11 and a pile of 2 x 6's. Three guys had that aisle closed while one of them sat on a forklift chatting with two of his buddies. The three of them turned and looked at me and went back to their discussion. The forklift wasn't running and they weren't even working on anything. It is not unusual for me to spend $2,000 a month on framing supplies. I won't waste any more of my time in this store since the Home Depot in Fredericksburg is the same distance from my house. read more
