I cannot detail the number of issues I have had at the store and with the management over the past five and a half years since I moved to this area. Lies, rip-offs, poor service, horrible horrible treatment when purchases have issues. Nobody cares, there are very few people in the store who actually care about the customer. Most of those don't last very long they get tired of being run to by everybody and eventually leave for a better job. I think they get worked to death. I learned after a couple of years of dealing with their horrendous treatment that the Home Depot in Lebanon delivers to where I live. They have a 1 hour delivery zone and I live 45 minutes away. Guess where I get most of my stuff now? Guess how it gets to me? Guess how many times I have things missing or damaged or the wrong item? Yep you got it they are heads and shoulders above any service that Lowe's provides. I plan my trips accordingly when I need to physically go and get things so that I can do it in Lebanon and not here. Very shortly, I won't have to drive that far because the new Home Depot in this town should be up and running in the next year. Hallelujah, no more captive audience. Let's see how quickly this Lowe's goes from being number one in sales to the bottom of the list. I have a feeling it's going to be a rapid fall. read more

Bought countertops thru Lowe's and the contracted installers gouged a hole in my wall, broke my light switch and left my back door wide open repeatedly for bugs or snakes to come in. I kept closing it and they kept leaving it open. They covered the gouged wall with backsplash but did not tell me about broken light switch. They could have apologized and made it right but they stayed silent. Also, they left trash on my floor from the sink box. Very unprofessional and would NEVER use their installers again. read more

Over one month ago I posted the following review on Google. Today, I have updated it and added it to this site in an effort to make more people aware of the issues my family has faced in doing business with the Cookeville, TN Lowe's. Our hope in doing so is to save at least one person the months-long headache that we have experienced. Please see below. The communication, customer service, and follow-up on behalf of manager, Robert Jackson, as it relates to carpet installation is the quintessential definition of what not to do in business. We purchased carpet in July of this year with an installation date of August 15th. We're through the first full week of November, and are still waiting for carpet to be installed in our home. We have paid over $4,000 to be waiting for nearly three months, with loose carpet pad, several rolls of carpet, and exposed tack strips throughout the entirety of one level of our home. Throughout this period, Robert has attempted to speak with me once, calling and leaving me a voicemail just before he left for the day. Multiple calls and physical visits have been made to the store by myself without him calling back to discuss our family's concerns. The internal notes taken by IST (1-800 number/point of contact for carpet install projects) on this project alone are approaching 15 pages in length at least, and nearly every contact has been initiated by myself as Lowe's/IST can't seem to be bothered to follow their call-back reminders and contact me when they say they will. I have specifically asked for a refund on multiple occasions during several of these calls. We want a refund, and we want it processed immediately. Lowe's has failed to follow-through on our business agreement in a timely manner. We want to be done with this extremely disappointing experience and to never do business with this Lowe's again. If you are considering replacing your flooring, our family would strongly advise you to pursue all other options prior to defaulting to this box store. We thought they would be able to provide a good product, a timely turnaround, and superior customer service given the volume they handle and policies they undoubtedly have tested over time. Unfortunately for us, we were wrong on all fronts and have paid the price, literally and figuratively. We hope we can save some of you the hassle, lost time, and stress that we've experienced. ***12/12/2025 UPDATE*** We continue to go back and forth with Lowe's regarding this. We have received a partial refund (materials have been refunded in full at this point). We continue to await the full refund for labor. We were told at the end of November that we would receive a full refund. ~10 days ago I was informed told that within 7-10 days we would receive the remainder. When this did not happen, the rep I spoke with at IST relayed confusion at the delay and told me they would follow-up. Today, I was sent a non-disclosure and hold harmless agreement that I was instructed to sign in order to process the remainder of our refund. At no time prior to today was this document mentioned, and the amount on the document was more than $1,000 USD LESS than what we initially paid. I have refused to sign this document at this time and accordingly, I can not be bound by it. It has been relayed to IST that the dollar amount needs to be corrected. After 5 months of this nonsense, all we are asking for is OUR MONEY BACK. Not a penny more. The only consistency we have experienced on behalf of the Cookeville Lowe's management throughout this process has been a lack of effective communication and a staggering inability to competently perform administrative tasks. Despite this saga, we continue to only want a refund for the amount we spent on July 9th of this year. As soon as they provide us with a document that has the correct monetary value written on it, I will sign it and abide by the terms contained therein from that date forward. Following this, when asked about my experience, I will simply state, "I have signed a non-disclosure agreement, releasing all claims and am legally obligated to say nothing further". Would you want to do business with an entity in which that was the case? If you see no future update from me, we finally got our refund and were made "whole". I will not be able to update this review after signing their hostage release document. To be fair, that's just fine. I will never set foot in that store again. read more

I'm beyond frustrated with the Cookeville location, but it's the only game in town for big-box home shopping. Today, I called the store and spoke with someone in the Garden Center and asked if they do delivery on large purchases of trees and was told yes and that the delivery charge could be paid when buying them at the store. So, a few hours later we went to the store and took almost an hour picking out all the trees we wanted, loading them into carts, and proceeded to the register to make our purchase (over $500.00 worth). When buying, the employee (who was very nice) had to call to verify if we could get them delivered and was told NO - this location does not deliver trees. I explained that we were told on the phone that it could be done, but she had called her manager who said otherwise. Once again, the girl at the checkout counter was very nice but we were frustrated that after spending all that time choosing the trees we wanted that they could not deliver them. I also had a lot of trouble applying for a Lowes credit account online. The steps required (taking a video of yourself, uploading pics of your drivers license, etc) are cumbersome at best. What I went through to get approved (even with an excellent credit rating) is another story. In a nutshell, if you're the only game in town I guess you can make your own rules. I hate that I have to go back in and buy another dryer from them hoping they put the $for the protection plan we paid for towards a new one on the new dryer. Not only do they have open and damaged boxes of product out on the retail selling floor for full price but I bought a miracle gro greenhouse (box was damaged, no discount) and it was missing over 20 pieces! If you purchase something from them and want to take advantage of the installation service the store associates will tell you all about, you better get it fully detailed in writing first, before you pay!! Because after you pay nearly $2,000 for something like a mini split HVAC unit, they will give you an 800 number to call to schedule installation. At that point you will be told they don't have anyone to do that so you're on your own. Customer service and the store manager will brush you off with an, "I can't do anything to help you, I don't know anything about it." You will call the store 16 times in a row, back to back, before customer service answers, then you will be left on hold for 30+ minutes. When the woman picks up again, you'll get a hateful, "I was busy!" I will never again purchase anything more than a plant or a pack of nails from Cookeville Lowe's! read more

Zero customer service. You cannot speak to anyone on the phone. No one wants to take responsibility for screw ups. I had to cancel and resubmit a kitchen order twice with Loews because they screwed up the billing and delivery address. Of course they kept my 20% deposit and couldn't credit it back at cancelation. I've spent close to $15,000 with them this week on remodeling my rental property and not one time have I received a call when anything will be delivered. I've had to scramble each time to get my property manager to open up the place. Now I'm being told that my new refrigerator cannot be delivered upstairs. The box is 31 inches wide and the stairs are 39 inches wide, what is the problem? Have been a Lowe's customer for decades, but there's something wrong in Cookeville. My GC warned me about them, but I didn't listen. I'm building a new home, spent 10's of thousands on appliances, cabinetry, bathroom tubs and vanities. We had to order well in advance because of COVID and supply chain issues. When we ordered the kitchen cabinets, the sales associate had us pick out counter top material and edge profiles, etc. I made the mistake of assuming that if we went through all that, it was included in the package. Imagine my dismay when the cabinets were finally installed there were no counter tops. Upon calling Lowe's I was told they were NOT part of the deal. (I looked carefully through the order package that was many pages and many items, sure enough, no counter tops) I asked the young man, "why go through the trouble of selecting counter tops when they were not part of the order?" He didn't have a sensible answer. I then asked if there were any adults I could talk to about this, he said "feel free to call corporate". The water jet corner tub we ordered arrived with a huge crack in the surround. Repair parts were unavailable, so the tub was returned, no problem. Now we had to order another tub and time is running outing out. The original tub was no longer available so we had to pick out another one. This tub had different installation considerations, so the previous measurements and plans we made were no longer valid, and the vanity we ordered same time as the tub would no longer fit. I called Cookeville Customer Service and spoke with a young lady who must have been having the worst day of her life. She spoke to me in a snappy condescending tone of voice. She lectured me that I could not return the tub because it was past 90 days for returns. It WAS past 90 days since the order, but not since the delivery. (COVID/Supply chain again) I tried to explain this but she kept talking over me and wasn't interested in my side. Then she said "we will take your return if you pay us $200, but you get nothing back." I replied, "let me get this straight, I pay you $200 dollars you take the vanity and I'm still out the cost of the vanity AND no refund?" She said that's right. I asked to speak to someone higher up, then she put me on hold. After several minutes, she came back, almost yelling at me now, "you are past the 90 day period, no returns!" I asked to speak with the manager, she said, "NO, that's who I just spoke to, and he's with another customer!" I gave up and said good bye. Next I called Corporate, they told me the 90 day period began with the product delivery and I could still return it. I got a case number and was told that someone in management would reach out to me the next day. The next day came and went, no call, so I called corporate again and was toid the same thing. Again, no call from the Cookeville Lowe's management. I also asked to not have to deal with the angry young lady. Well, sure enough, she was the girl at the counter. Her tone of voice was still snippy, she barked that I had to get the product in front of her before she could do anything, then leaned back on the wall looking away from me with her arms crossed. I got the vanity up to the desk and she just stuck out her hand, saying nothing. I asked "What do you need from me?' She barked "your papers!" It went on like this till the transaction was finished and she handed me a slip of paper from the register, no words. "Can you tell me what I'm looking at here?" I asked. "You don't get money, it goes back on your store credit card". "So, are you telling me I can't use the money for anything but purchases at Lowe's?" "30 days, you have to wait 30 days, then they will issue a check!" she snapped. "Well, that's more information than I had 30 seconds ago". At this point I left. Just WOW! I've been doing business with Lowe's longer than she has been alive, and that's how you get treated. I will NEVER spend another penny at Lowe's anywhere on this Earth. It's unfortunate that Yelp will not allow you to give 0 stars. It would take more time than I intend to devote here to tell my tale of woe so I'll just say that literally everything they state on their site regarding their "professional independent installers" is a straight up lie. They'll send whoever they can scrape together to your home with no ID and you can be sure, not vetted, not background checked and not bonded. I ordered windows in Feb '22 and here it is mid Oct and I just got a refund after a tale of stupidity and incompetence that would fill a best seller. This follows a now 5 year long saga of the most screwed up purchase of an appliance suite in history. There doesn't actually seem to be a manager at the Cookeville Lowes because the managers I've talked to weren't mature enough or competent enough to run a gas station Cinnabon franchise. In store help almost non existence! Prices are higher than any other including Ace. Persons with disabilities best have their own means to navigate their store only 3 electric carts never are all charged and working. This has been the worst experience. I Ihave NEVER experienced such poor communication before. We bought in store 4 major appliances.. LG refrigerator, Kitchenaid dishwasher, range and microwave. People were all nice but absolutely everything was messed up. Nothing was delivered like they said it would. People would just show up when they told us they would show up a different day. It is unbelievable to me how bad Lowes screwed up our delivery. To be fair, I understand that they work with a 3rd party delivery service, but after everything that has happened to us, and the multiple phone calls, I would expect a manger to contact them and light them up, because the outcome was a very dissatisfied customer, and a loss of money, because we decided after all this, we want a refund and don't want to give Lowe's our money; a different establishment that takes care of their customers deserves it more. If you're getting a large appliance delivered, read my story first: Our order was due to arrive Saturday 8a-12p. We made plans for later in the day after the delivery timeframe. Received a phone call before Saturday to CONFIRM delivery time between 2p-6p. We notified them of the other timeframe we were given, then told that 2p-6p was the correct time frame. Ok, roll with the punches, we changed our afternoon plans to morning plans and would be home for the delivery that afternoon. While gone Saturday morning, we received a phone call that the delivery guy was at our place at 10a!! Through many back and forths over the phone, we were put in touch with the delivery guy and told him when our delivery time was and that he was early. "No problem, we'll take care of it" was told to us. Get home and proceed to wait for the rest of the day only to have no delivery. Called the delivery guy, he was done for the day and at home. Called Lowe's to explain their massive screw up and that we worked our plans that day around them to accommodate, and still didn't receive the product. I spoke to David (delivery manager on 08/28 at 6pm) and he informed me that Sunday was all full and that it'd need to be delivered on Monday. I reiterated that this is on them (Lowe's) to make right and to put us on the list for Sunday, fully understanding that it might not be delivered, but maybe it would. (Complete truth be told, I expected a powerhouse like Lowes to be able to contact their 3rd party delivery service and tell them to make sure to get it done.) But no, I waited at home all day Sunday and it did not show up. Okay, upsetting as it may be, he did tell me they were full on Sunday and that I would probably not receive it. So here I am today, at home from work on Monday, to receive the delivery today. We just received a phone call from Lowe's to confirm the delivery of our washing machine TOMORROW (Tuesday)!! HOW did it get delayed yet another day?! How did you screw this all up so bad?! In the beginning we were supposed to receive our washing machine Saturday morning, and now it is supposed to arrive Tuesday?! We are done with Lowe's. Saturday, June 6 at 8:10pm we arrived at the Lowe's entrance where you purchase lumber, etc. Upon arrival I got a cart to take inside. During COVID (or anytime really) everyone expects sanitary wipes or at least hand sanitizer to wipe down the carts. When I asked the associate at the register where I could get the wipes, he said "we don't supply those because we clean them every night". What???? You're kidding. I asked if he could give me one he had behind the counter. Nope. They're watching me in that little room behind me. Should I knock on the door & ask for a wipe? Call me a manager right now. He called & I got a paper towel that he had sprayed with sanitizer. Lowe's, you can do better than that with the high numbers of cases of COVID that your county has. Today was the last day I will go in Lowe's while the Covid-19 virus is still on the rise!! But, I really needed a piece of paneling and thought their employees were all wearing masks, as was I. Then I needed help from one of the associates regarding the price on some damaged paneling, he proceeded to take off his mask, move closer to me, and expound on how Covid was just a huge political conspiracy and masks were like a political statement. Are you stinking kidding me?? The science of a mask worn by a person who has Covid, but not showing symptoms, has been proven! It's not politics, it's medical science to keep us safe. I'm so stupid...I knew that Lowe's has been awful with crowded checkout areas and no limits on the number of people they allow in their store. But now you can now add employees who remove their masks and try to enlighten you on Covid, masks, and conspiracy theories to that list. Me and wife just had a home project just completed. We ordered counter tops and a new sink from Lowes for our kitchen. My wife was so excited. We picked out our patterns and colors and scheduled a time for installation. Bad News, they cut the counter wrong and now our sink is not centered, makes the whole kitchen look off. So today I decided to call and see why it was taking so long for an appointment. Got transferred several times and the last transfer never answered the phone rang about 20 times. Do not go to this store, especially on a Sunday!! This low rating is for the lack of, and poor service in the garden center and pick up area. We were not treated well by the loading staff in the pick up area. They tried to load ripped bags and threw many bags so hard they were splitting open. The product was noticeably different than the one we started with (same product number) so we had to come back to see if they had more of the batch we started with. They sent us to customer service (rather than unloading it then and notifying the front), only to have to go back to unload the wrong product then repurchasing it again. At no time did they help or get anyone to help find the right one. There was only one cashier in the garden check out who was doing an outstanding job considering. We had to get tape from the Pro cashier who was awesome, but no one helped us we had to tape all the ripped and damaged bags to have enough to finish. We had no help loading either. I spoke to the on duty manager who assured us the loaders were not rude at all. Yeah right, very funny...maybe the store manager can discuss customer service with the staff. read more

Don't bother with this store. They don't even carry the most standard of dimensional lumber sizes. Zero 2 x 12 x 8's or any thing under 14ft. in the 2x12's. After asking about it, was told that's how they do it. What Bull! Couldn't even get one cut down, that would have meant one of the store staff might have to do something. Zero help from any of the staff for that matter. Also be sure to check your receipts. The last four times I have been there, prices are not what they say are. Takes forever to correct too. Just stay away. Give your hard earned money to a store that might at least appreciate it! This Lowe's could care less. Shame since every other Lowe's I've been to has been a good experience. She is very polite & will help you in anyway she can. I am rating this store with 5 stars ONLY because of "JENNY" . There is rarely anyone in their department and the staff does try to pass you off to someone else and they do seem to always be on their phones. If you ask for assistance, it's a draw to see if you've approached someone actually interested in assisting you. I was there two days past and actually had a very nice experience shopping. Most employees are under-qualified, arrogant and ignorant teenagers. Most under and qualified both will dodge you if you're needing assistance. They are seriously just there playing on their phones or hanging out talking. Seriously try to find an employee that isn't a cashier. The janitor has better customer service. Fire your hiring person asap... Not only that but they will talk about something they have no clue about. One google search can give you more detail about an item in their department. DO NOT DO DELIVERY! Get ready to waste your day waiting around for them to call and show up hours late being complete jerks.
