I was told that even if I signed the document, I would have a chance to dispute the claim. THAT IS UNTRUE! Once you sign the closing document, you are required to pay. Also the trunk lid of the car I rented did not open after the first day. When I called SIXT they told me I would have to drive hours out of my way to pick up a different car. They made no effort to fix the problem or to get me another car. That never would have happened in the United States. We had to get our luggage out the passenger seat the entire trip and it was not very easy. Consequently I had to park backwards to get the luggage out. When I did, I nicked the bumper. Even though I told them what had happened they did not reduce any of the claim or compensate me for not renting me a fully functioning vehicle. They also said there was additional damage on the wheel, which I did not do. But because I signed the document, I am required to pay for it. DON'T SIGN THE DOCUMENT -- TALK TO A SUPERVISOR. I have tried over and over to resolve these problems and have been unsuccessful. I will not rent from SIXT again.

This was my first time renting with Europcar and it will 100% be my last. What should have been a…read more$350 rental turned into over $800 because of sneaky extra charges and bogus damage fees. They slapped on a cross-border fee and a premium station surcharge even though I had already paid what was required when I booked. Then at drop-off, they claimed there were scratches on the car. Funny thing is -- when I picked it up, there was no damage report provided at all. The car was parked in a ridiculously tight garage, and they apparently expect customers to crawl around inspecting every inch, then go all the way back to the desk to argue about it. Completely unrealistic. When I contacted customer service, they were no help at all. Basically, their attitude was "too bad, you should've caught it." No accountability, no fairness, nothing. Bottom line: Europcar will nickel and dime you, tack on hidden fees, and then blame you for damage you didn't cause. Out of all the rental companies I've used, this was hands down the worst experience I've ever had.
