I still cannot believe I'm writing this, honestly. Feels like a bad dream…read more I had to put down my beloved friend last week. I had to contact Faithful Friends for the cremation and urn. I worked with Brent specifically. He was very compassionate and he answered back almost immediately. He even let me contact him via text to check in on when my baby would be ready. I was treated with a lot of empathy by him. He got King to me as quickly as he could. Feels good to have him home. Brent was able to keep some of Kings ashes out in a bag for me so that I can scatter them and keep them on me. They have a selection of urns that will work for your pet. I got the Midnight Princess Urn with Swarovski for King. It says his name on the side. I would also recommend getting paw prints. It is actual clay that your pet put their little paw in. I cried when I got that. I saved a bit of fur as well. I also got the blanket he was wrapped in back. They're reasonably priced. Much of this was covered by my pet insurance as well. Working with Faithful Friends made a horrible time monumentally softer on my heart. I will miss my pet so much, I already do. I'm glad I have him back with me so I can continue to grieve him. Thank you Brent and Faithful Friends.

I wavered a lot in the course of deciding when to do it (cancelled one appointment, changed the second to a quality of life assessment which led to euthanasia), but the Paws to Rest staff were wonderfully understanding and never seemed impatient or put out by the struggles I had in deciding when to call it. From start to finish, I felt Paws to Rest was very respectful and sensitive to how hard it is to go through losing a beloved pet. Just as a word of advice, if you need the appointment to be less hurried in order to feel like it's appropriately solemn or what have you, book the quality of life assessment. I gather that the euthanasia appointments are pretty quick. They book more time for the quality of life assessments and can still do the euthanasia within the same appointment. And honestly, it just helps your peace of mind having a vet do one last look over and confirming whether it's really time.

That message was sent to our home phone. No texting service. So after that was discussed, I asked for the address to pick up my pets remains. I was told they would "drop you a pin". Sure, go ahead and do that to a phone that does not have texting capabilities. Common sense seems to be non existent.

We knew it was coming but it progressed so fast in the end. So most places couldn't get her in for a few days, and our usual vet who we noticed has been raising prices on everything including food for quite some time so I wasn't really shocked that taking her to our usual vet was going to cost us almost $600. I feel like they almost take advantage of you because you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. Because we trusted the veterinarian and he was familiar with our cat we went there for the euthanasia which was $260. Because we wanted her ashes back, that was another $200. I think there was even a charge for the cardboard box the ashes get put in. You want a clipping of hair, limit of two, that's another $20. After having her put down we went to Guardian Pet Cremation Services. These guys were all class. Nice and quiet when you walk in, very calm soothing atmosphere. All in it was $120 for her cremation and to get her ashes back. We had brought scissors to cut off a lock of hair and the lady gave us electric clippers and a fancy little jar to put them in at no cost. When we picked up her cremains they were packaged neatly with a bow and a little decorative tag with our cats name. Included was an envelope with her certificate of cremation and a sympathy card. Just goes to show a little goes a long way. I hope I won't need their services for awhile but when the time comes, I will definitely go there again. I can't thank them enough for their kindness and compassion they showed me and my family.
