This place is very dishonest and if I could give them zero stars I definitely would. The bad reviews you read about them are 100% correct! Especially the reviews of other clients, or should I say "victims" who had experiences similar to my daughter's. It seems there is a common theme of trying to scare clients into thinking they need extensive dental work with doom and gloom tactics if it isn't done right away. I've been helping my daughter deal with them for months now and here's the unabashed truth about Lovett Dental.
My 22 year old daughter visited the Webster, TX location in October, 2022 for what was to be a routine Xray and cleaning visit. This place turns a simple cleaning and Xray appointment into an all day affair with their games and trickery. My daughter called me several times during her HOURS long visit, completely frustrated and confused by all the nonsense they were telling her and how much time it was consuming. She was literally there over 4 hours!!! I told her to walk out and she wishes she would have.
Their MO is to keep you waiting (or held hostage) for hours, to convince you that you need work you absolutely DO NOT need. They will then refuse to do the routine dental exams or cleanings unless you first agree to their fraudulent attempt to hamstring you into letting them do the unnecessary and costly work they try to force you into. They also tell you the reason for the long wait is because they are/were confirming insurance coverage, but that the good news is they have received preauthorization from your insurance company to perform the work, which is a total lie! They then quote you an "out of pocket" maximum expense after the amount insurance will pay, which they also know is a lie because they didn't actually get the preauthorization to begin with.
My daughter is very financially and business savvy. She doesn't really need my help but I feel that due to her young age, Lovett Dental saw her as easy prey to take advantage of, and so now my "Dad" instinct has engaged. She specifically asked them before letting them proceed with the work why the invoice said "estimated" insurance. They again lied and said they had confirmed insurance would indeed pay that amount but that the form generically says "estimated" and not to worry. I know all of this to be fact because again, we were in somewhat constant communication during her visit and my daughter wanted 100% assurance there would be no "surprises" later.
So what happens afterwards??? You can probably guess!!! Everything will change and you will receive a large bill you aren't anticipating and never agreed to, but rather were deceived into. If you look closely at the attached photos, the deception is easy to see. The invoice they provided my daughter on the day of service and the charges they billed our insurance company don't match at all (Boxes highlighted in blue). Even more disturbing is that they billed the insurance company more than the "Considered Charges" (3-4 times more for some services, which are highlighted in yellow). "Considered Charges" is the amount they are contractually obligated to perform the work for based on their "In Network" agreement with our insurance provider. So when the insurance company denies the higher charges based on the contracted agreement, they try to force you to pay the difference, which they know is in violation of their agreement but they attempt to make you pay anyway!
Forget about getting anything resolved after you receive the bill because the entire organization is inept, or it appears just part of the scheme. They will pass you from person to person and department to department with everyone telling you it is out of their control. They absolutely DO NOT CARE! I have never in my life experienced such deceptive business practices with a dental organization!! And to top it all off, my daughter is convinced they chipped one of her teeth during the supposed "deep" cleaning they performed.
So consider yourself forewarned! My advice is to RUN...FAST AND FAR...from Lovett Dental!!!!!!! read more
