As we were preparing to leave, another customer overheard my friend say, "Let's go to a store where our money is appreciated." That customer immediately went and told the sales associate what she had heard. Only then, as we were walking out the door, did the associate finally acknowledge us. The experience was extremely disappointing. Every customer who enters a store should be treated with courtesy and respect, regardless of whether the staff believes they will make a purchase. Unfortunately, we left feeling unwelcome and as though our business simply did not matter.

I can remember that they have the best delivery people in the business. I also remember my elderly parents buying a huge cabinet they had delivered, and that they wanted to move it a few years later. The SAME DELIVERY GUYS who originally brought it came back and moved it for them. I saw a negative review from someone who custom ordered something through Wilson's. Guess what? When you special order furniture from ANY STORE, you open yourself up to a myriad of problems. I've been through it. Don't blame the locals, they're at the mercy of the manufacturer. It's just a bad idea to buy that way. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Once you get past that you are seemingly in an industrial park in odd location and enter inside, the creative, serene space comes alive! A shipping container serves as an impromptu dining room which is so intriguing and appealing! There are beautiful, uniquely curated chandeliers and lamps everywhere. Gorgeous sofas and enveloping chairs in calm & dreamy palettes. Beautiful bed lines in luxurious fabrics. Hearty dining room tables and rustic chairs to accompany them. Memphis is sorely lacking in quality home furniture. The Back Room certainly fills an underserved niche. The people working there seem glad to be there and are happy to help coordinate a look that works. Some might say I'm cheap, and I'd agree, but I also love nice things. Many, many years ago I saw the apothecary table from PB on an episode of "Friends," and thought it interesting and little more. Then imagine my surprise probably 10 years ago (quite awhile ago at least, don't quote me on timing) when hubby and I visited and saw a slew of apothecary tables on super sale for $49-$79... don't remember precisely, but seriously only two digits in the price. We've bought lamps, pillows, home accents, window treatments, light fixtures, vanity mirrors, lots of stuff over the years. This past weekend we visited and the deal I couldn't pass up was from the PB Kids collection, adorable retro shaped lunch boxes for some young ones on our Christmas list for $7. Seriously, so cute. I also grabbed a great looking travel cosmetic bag set for an older cousin who is in college, and we bought a couple of great nostalgic metal Christmas ornaments.
