People from the Mid-Atlantic who lack worldliness like to claim that Buc-ee's is just an oversized Wawa or Sheetz. They are entirely wrong. For starters, Buc-ee's explicitly bans 18-wheelers from the property, leaving the grid of well over one hundred fueling positions open entirely to a synchronized ballet of family SUVs. Inside, the scale is borderline psychedelic. There is a literal "Wall of Jerky" and rows of rotating homemade fudge flavors. At the center is the Texas Round Up station, where employees in paper hats yell "Fresh brisket on the board!" before chopping smoked beef with rhythmic, hypnotic violence. They sell everything you'd expect to find at this chain: ice cream, chips, hot dog or hot dog shaped convenience food on heated rollers, grab and go deli stuff like sandwiches, mini charcuterie, string cheese, fruit, very expensive nuts, soda, last minute I forgot at home toiletries, mainstream auto and cleaning products and beer (they don't sell liquor from midnight to 6 am). I was surprised that along with the high calorie frozen entrees they had a couple of Amy's Organic. It was HOPPING in there around 11 pm. The cashier was overwhelmed by the constant traffic of customers yet he remained cool under fire and was notably polite.
