As a traveler with young kids this was horrifying. Our SECOND room had even larger stains in the carpet, a whole in the ceiling for the "fire extinguisher water" the remote did not have a back to it and it wouldn't even work for the TV at all. As a breastfeeding mom I was hoping to keep my breast milk in the fridge- fridge didn't have a freezer spot and it was colder in my little cooler with ice packs than the actual fridge. Also, barn doors that are not flush for the wall for a BATHROOM door... not very smart. No privacy at all, might as well have had no door at all. You could see into the bathroom from the outside as there was a 2 inch gap on each side of the door. For a hotel that had more reviews than a competitor and supposedly "better" (8.7) rating... this property is filthy. I hate to see what the competition looks like. Even when checking out there was no one present at the counter the entire time we ate and grabbed our bags from our room. Only thing I did think was decent was the breakfast.

You can smell mold as soon as you open the door as the bathroom was right when you walk in. The mold was in and around the bathtub. They made the rooms somewhat handicap accessible by putting double sided sticky/grip tape in the bathtub, was a hazard waiting to happen. It was really gross. Had hair and gross stuff sticking to it. Had to wear flip flops to shower. The floors had debris, dead bugs and spiders in a few areas. Looked like they haven't vacuumed in a while. Also tables and counters looked like they haven't been cleaned either. Basically had to clean, sanitize and get air fresheners. They also had a sign on the main door saying they were at full capacity so we had no option to change rooms. Not sure that would have helped anyways. They also had a sign saying they won a ton of rewards and not sure how. Need better housekeeping and a deep cleaning. They do offer breakfast. They have a small pool and fitness center. I personally won't stay here again but I guess if you need a cheap hotel and don't mind the mess it's an option.

So, they rescheduled us for a month later when the room was available again. The day before, my fiance called to confirm our reservation was still good, since they never called a few days prior like they had stated they would, and was told we were good to go for the next day. We packed, took our dogs to the dog sitter and we're about to head out, when hrs before our check in time he received a text that they had pest control services happening and were unable to make the upstairs beds so they would need to again reschedule the reservation. How can this even be true when he spoke to the lady the day prior?!?! You didn't know pest control was coming the next day?!?! Was told once again they would need to reschedule but didn't know when the room was available till Monday. Here it is Thursday, and no call to reschedule. Absolutely horrible service!!!! Sorry we didn't care to do the money maker murder mystery, I assume this is why we keep getting excuses as to why we have to be rescheduled, but we still deserved better service than what we have received. Those folks may have forgotten they have chosen one of the least pricey places in town. The negatives are not really that negative for the price I paid. Even though "townhouse" is a misnomer, this place was once a Holiday Inn Express. Positively speaking, the exterior looks like it was recently repainted. I trust the management has plans to freshen up the interior too. The bed was comfortable and no pests were seen. That's mostly what I'm looking for when just wanting a place better than my car to get enough sleep to drive another 600 miles. One word of caution: Listen carefully to the staff member who is checking you in and question the $100 damage deposit policy. Here it is different. You forfeit the returnable deposit if you do not contact a staff member before checking out for their inspection. Try not to get upset as they are doing you a favor. They will find anything left behind before you leave and you will have a face to face about any damage.

In search of an alternative, I found the mention of Pembroke Cottage. After speaking with one of the owners, Renee, I decided to reserve the cottage. I am so pleasantly surprised and impressed with this adorable private bed and breakfast. The home is quite large with one king sized bed, one queen, one double and two singles- plus two bathrooms. There is a jacuzzi, fridge/kitchen stocked with brunch options/snacks, a washer/dryer, comfy living room with tv, high top table and kitchen table. The owners are friendly and accommodating. Prior to arrival, I completed a breakfast request menu for the owners. They truly went above and beyond! They even got me a full container of oat milk and half-and-half. The price for three people for two nights came out to $400. This is slightly less a night then the chain hotels but with a very comfortable, home feel to it. I highly recommend. Far exceeds expectations. Would 100% stay here again!
