I didn't think I could find a fish restaurant more likable than Annandales's Fish and Co. Lo and behold, I've fell in love with Love.Fish. It basically has the same philosophy of sustainability as Fish and Co, and there's not that much that sets them apart, yet my gut feels that Love.Fish is just a step above. It's a pretty small place, though brightly decorated. Unlike Fish and Co, there's a large outdoor seating area and the front window opens up to let the fresh air get in.
The menu features a decent variety of light and refreshing combinations seafood (if you discount the fried fish and chips, nothing deep-fried can be considered light). These selections are inventive per se, and consistently place the freshest catch at the forefront. There are many choices of appetizers (which range from $9-$17), like the Indian-inspired salmon poori rolls with yogurt and mango pickle and the polenta chips. When it comes to mains, there are many types of fish to choose from, including huon salmon, mahi mahi, mirror dory, and pearl pearch. Many of the fish are local and caught using ethical fishing methods. The only annoying thing is that you have to pay extra for sides (which are all really appetizing). I ordered the special of the day, which was seared snapper with crisp green beans topped with the most perfect poached egg I've ever seen (check out the picture). It was simply unforgettable. I will come back to Love.Fish in a heartbeat. read more
