Mechanicals a re destroyed furniture is floating around. A real mess. Not only do I have a real mess, but my tenants have no hot water and I need help quickly. It's a holiday though and nobody wants to help. Insurance loopholes its way out of this one, my usual guys are out of town. Luckily my super tenant starts asking around and his CTA bus driver has a neighbor who might be able to help. Enter Al of Helping Handyman Work This was a messy job, that I was trying to manage from overseas and I am so grateful that Al's neighbor drives a CTA bus because he totally came through. He and his crew were communicative, always on time and happy to do a pretty messy and complicated job. In the end Helping Handyman Work did the following: Purchased / delivered & installed 2 new water heaters Demo'd an old deck Remediated a wet / damp basement (cutting out dry wall, bleaching impacted areas) Identified the root cause for my water (deteriorated foundation) Fixed the foundation Rebuilt a stair case Hauled away all junk They did this all within a week and at a very competitive price. I am so grateful to have met Al. He really came through when we needed him. He is an honest guy who will give you a good price on good work. He will be my first call next time I need any help.

We recently had a Handyman Helpers repair a door recently. Another contractor had installed the…read moredoor some time ago but it never closed properly. Air from outside was leaking in and the door would pop open. Jeremy repaired the door (re-hung the frame) so that it closes properly, no leaks and stays closed. We were impressed by the way he would show us what the previous contractor had done improperly and explained what he was doing to fix it. So, not only did he do a fine repair job but we learned something in the bargain. Nate was extremely personable, pleasant. His work was solid, clean and done in a proper time frame. The cost was very reasonable for the time and quality. I highly recommend him for small repairs or full remodeling.

Jeff walked me through every step of each of my small projects. he even went to a HomeGoods store with me to help pick out a tub and tile. He installed a new tub and subway tile in the shower (the tiles lined up perfectly), a shower niche, closed off walls, added closets, removed sliding glass doors to sunroom, and repaired drywall. He worked on our home for two weeks and we are very pleased. Honest, hard-working and communicates process & status along the way. Jeff pays attention to all the little details that go i to leaving a professional finish on every task. Trustworthy to leave home alone, even with the dogs. Now that I know I have someone who I can count on to show up (and do good work), I will have plenty more projects for Jeff soon. We have already made a plan of how future work would flow best as I am planning to complete my projects in different stages.

A couple of weeks after it was installed my furnace went out and the guy fixing it noticed water on top of the water heater and told me there's a leak from installation and it would rust the top out of the water heater. I took a pic of the water pooling on the water heater and sent it to Jeff and got no reply back. When he finally messaged back he said he had been running a high fever and he then scheduled a day to come out the next week to fix it. We are now 8 days past the day he scheduled with me and he has not messaged once and doesn't answer texts. Avoid! He will not fix his mistakes!!

I saw him posting a lot of good pictures online and I figured i thought I'd give him a shot. We got in touch we spoke about a few jobs I have that I need help with and he said he can help me. I told him the requirements that we have and he said no problem he can get this to us. - Insurance certificate with our name on it before he starts working. - Take before, During and After pictures. This was June 19th week. June 23rd. I contacted him asking him if he was still planning on going to the clients home on Saturday to do the work. He responded yes. He told me it would be done by Sunday. It wasn't and he didn't contact me to let me know. (Very frustrating as I shouldn't be continuously contacting him). The job wasn't done over the weekend. The job was supposedly going to be done on the following Tuesday but it didn't until Wednesday. I understand weather permitting, however he never told me that he was coming out the following day. Wednesday supposedly the job was completed but it wasn't. This was a 1 man - 2 day job and pretty cut and dry project. Thursday June 29th I reached out to Dan about his project. I had to stop out at the property to find the fence installed has major issues since he never sent me the pictures. 1. Posts are loosely in the ground. They move and jiggle around. They aren't solidly in the ground as they should be. 2. The fence is chipped and cracked in several areas along the hinge areas very visible. 3. One post is being held up by a bungie cord - because the post isn't solid and is loose. 4. One post is crooked. 5. On one side of the home the fence isn't flush with the home as it should be. There is a piece of fence between the gas meter and the post loosely standing there. 6. The hinges on the left side of the garage are facing out and the one on the right side of the home are on the inside. 7. The gate can't open clearly due to the gas meter being in the way. Per the previous fence the gate opened as it was in the middle. 8. The gate on the left side was supposed to be 48" and 36" on the right side. He responded blaming me for picking out the worst materials to have installed. "Clients choice". It's a crappy installation. See the attachments. Dan asked me what I'm charging for labor and I responded; What I charge for labor or for the job has NOTHING to do with your quality of work period! He offered to have this fixed on the 4th of July and I declined as my client is having guests over this holiday weekend. This should have been fixed before the weekend not when it's convenient for him. This crappy installation can hurt my business reputation. He has used volger language with me and has threatened me because I've brought this to his attention. I had to get my attorney involved as he's acting out of control instead of fixing the problem so he can get paid. Update 7/13/18 The project is still incomplete. Unfortunately we have had to get our attorney involved since Dan has made severe threats after leaving this review online. Additionally he isn't willing to work with us and get it done how our contract with our client states. "Dans texts below; The next thing I say to you will be face to face. I'm done with the text talk. Maybe reconsider the way you talk to people, it may run some the wrong way I FUCKING TOLD YOU I WAS GOING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES. Apparently you can't read or were ignoring it. lol..... sue me......for damage I did or material I wasted of yours? Emotional distress? I'm done with this for today guy. Well took soon I see you went on my Yelp page you big fat fuckin piece of shit. I was goin to let this go, but you changed my mind" I don't want the gates flipped as Dan wants to do because there will be holes empty or filled looking like junk. I want the posts replaced, and gates that are broken replaced. Sadly if he doesn't do it per my instructions which I've messaged him a few times about I will have to have it removed and redone. I wish I read all reviews about his company before hiring him. Stay Away!!!!
