Do not come here. Lou's Customer Exhaust overcharged me for a "repair" that ended up worse than how it started. I took my car to [Other Shop X] (edited to remove this shop name from review) in Nashua to have my car inspected, and they notified me that they could not pass the car due to an exhaust leak. They showed me where the intermediate pipe between the converter and the muffler, where it connected via a lap joint to the muffler was corroded and leaking exhaust, as well as 4 bolts that needed to be replaced elsewhere on the exhaust system. They quoted me 700 dollars to do the repair, but mentioned that Lou's Custom Exhaust on E Hollis street would likely be able to repair it for cheaper. I made an appointment with Lou's and took it down. They charged me 500 dollars for the repair. When I took the car back to [Other Shop X] for a reinspection, they said that the 4 bolts were replaced near the front of the car, but the leak (which is why it failed inspection) was still there. They passed the vehicle anyway because "we aren't going to nitpick, and it's clear that you made the attempt at getting it fixed". 2 weeks later, after minimal driving (I probably drive less than 15 miles a week), I go out and start my car, and it sounds like a motorcycle, and there is also a heavy rattling noise. I get under the car to inspect my exhaust system (in hindsight, I should have done this sooner). The 4 bolts that needed to be replaced were in fact replaced, but the area with the leak looked like nothing was replaced or repaired. The intermediate pipe was completely severed from the muffler. The muffler had completely disconnected and was dangling off the hangers and rattling against the pipe it was supposed to be connected to. Lou's Custom Exhaust charged me 500 dollars to replace four bolts... They did not repair the exhaust leak at all, and my car ended up in worse condition than when it started. I called and explained the situation and requested that they give me a partial refund, and they told me they "do not do that". Now I must take my car somewhere else because I do not trust Lou's and my car is broken. Be warned. Update in response to Owner response: [Other Shop X] quoted me $700 dollars total to perform 2 repairs: 1. Replace 4 rusted out bolts towards the front of the exhaust system, and 2. Fix the exhaust leak where the intermediate pipe connected to the muffler, which was the bulk of the $700 dollar cost. When I arrived at Lou's Custom Exhaust, the mechanic walked me under the car and showed me the 4 bolts that needed replacing, as well as the crack in the intermediate pipe by the muffler. He told me that it would cost 450-500 dollars for BOTH repairs, and I agreed. I think anyone reading this review would find it hard to believe that I came down to Lou's and agreed to pay $500 dollars to have 4 bolts replaced, and ignore the major repair, which was the cracked pipe, when [Other Shop X] quoted me $700 for both. The cracked pipe was not fixed, and my muffler fell off two weeks later. You charged me $500 for half of the agreed upon repairs. When I called and politely asked for a partial refund, your mechanic said that "we don't do that" and asked for me to bring it in because "my work doesn't break after a week". I declined to bring my car in because A. I do not trust the work your shop does, for obvious reasons, and B. based on your response, it sounds like you would try and charge me extra to fix your error because you are pretending that the major repair was not agreed upon in the first place. I would rather bring it somewhere else and have it done right. For the sake of transparency, if you would like to provide a detailed accounting of how replacing 4 bolts would warrant a $500 charge, I would be happy to photograph under my car to confirm what you did, and let the readers decide. read more

Walked out of work and saw my tailpipe basically on the ground. Called this shop On Hollis St, super friendly told me to bring it down whatever time was convenient for me. I got there, pulled it right in. They showed me exactly what the problem was and it was literally fixed in 15 minutes. I didn't get the older Gentleman's name but him and the guy "Ed" provided excellent customer service. Give those guys a raise. read more

I have been going to Lou's since I was a kid and just got my 1st car, Ford Taurus SHO, I have had many other cars done since and I've always been 100% satisfied with the quality of work and the great people who work there. I had what appeared to be an exhaust system issue with some rattling of metal emanating from under the car. I decided that an exhaust business would be far better than going to the dealer (lord help us all if you have to do this) or a complete car place. I called Lou's and spoke to John. He said they were somewhat busy but to drive down and they could probably diagnose the problem fairly quickly and possibly fix it while I waited. I drove down and within 5 minutes, the car was on the rack and they showed me the issue- the heat shield had come undone in one place and was causing the noise. He suggested a few options and was able to fix the problem for a very fair price. Overall, he looked at the exhaust system and told me that it looked to be in fine shape. I was pleased with the service and professionalism and would go there again for any exhaust issue. Thank you Lou's Custom Exhaust and thanks John! Reading reviews can be a chore since you have to decide if the review is an honest assessment of the business or not. Daaaa, Yelp it before you go to it! I'm a fan and going to return! This review is why you should listen to your Yelp friends. So, 3 machanic's said I needed my flex pipe replaced. 2 actually crawled under and looked. So I called around, and price kept going up... My Yelp buddy John recommended Lou's out in Nashua. So I made the called and even drove there to confirm the $200 quote just for the flex pipe. ( their quote was several hundred $ cheaper than the local custom guy of $380.) Well I got there and they went through my exhast. The kid (Cory) was awsome. Now I needed more work than a flex pipe, but he fixed it enough to pass inspection. And the cost was the same as the local guy for just the one peice! I got more work done by Lou's for the same price as local guy quoted me for the one part... What probably would have taken the local guy most of the day, got done in under 2hrs by my man Cory... he knows what he is doing You MUST make an APPOINTMENT here. This place books up fast! Convient location and sitting room with a few places to eat within walking distance. If you go else where you are wasting your time and most deffinately your money. read more

As much as this annoys me...I purchased this exhaust system in November of 2016 for my 14' Sierra from Lous Custom in Nashua on E.Hollis St. (did not know they were individually owned as I have had all my previous vehicles done with Lous). 2 years and 4 months on a (non stainless) exhaust system and it COMPLETELY fell off my truck. Literally holding on by the hanger. Pulled piping down. As you can see, welds are terrible, holes everywhere, the weld to the muffler completely snapped off. Called them, told me drop it off next day (cool!) get a phone call saying that its going to be 300$ (original ENTIRE system was 350) to fix it all that they only offer a year on piping for a warranty because of how cheap the Chinese metal is now... if this was a 5-6 year exhaust system I could understand. I called the Manchester Facility and he told the manager the story. He said absolutely NOT should any Lou's franchise be getting any "cheap" metal as the as There are certain "standards" they must withhold even though they are all "individual". and at no point does he recall any exhaust system under 5 years just snapping welds and falling off... Unfortunately, Lous Custom Exhaust in Nashua, NH has lost me as a customer. read more

The Fella's down at Lou's sure saved my day the other day. We have a Honda Pilot that gets scary expensive when we bring it to the dealer for service. The other day, the exhaust was definitely sounding "not normal" so I made a call and spoke with a gentleman named Pete. He told me to bring it down the next morning. When I arrived they quickly pulled it in for me, showed me what the problem was. The flange on the Catalytic converter was rotted and they gave me a quote to repair it rather than replace it. Pete had his crew repair it for me quickly at a reasonable price. The job was done while I was there in the waiting area and the work was completed just as described. I would definitely recommend you call Lou's custom exhaust before you bring it to any other service provider! read more

I took my Ford F-250 in to have a header gasket replaced and a dual exhaust installed. The work they performed was very good. However, they took off the vacuum canister that controls my ventilation controls and didn't put it back on when the job was finished. When I noticed my ventilation controls weren't working I took it in to the dealership. They promptly asked me if I'd recently had any work done to the exhaust manifold and I stated that I had, to which they responded that the vacuum canister was missing. When I called Lou's, I got a great big explanation that there was no way they could have done this, despite the fact that vacuum canisters don't simply walk off. The canister is mounted to the fender lining which can't be removed without dismounting the canister. Lou's claimed that they don't follow this procedure. Yeah, right. Liars. Despite spending $900 for the work they performed, they've now cost me an additional $150 for their mistake and were unwilling to address the simple fact that the canister was there before the truck went in, and wasn't there when the truck left.. Do not give them your business. read more

I took my car in to see if they could help me with a problem I had with my exhaust. I had an appointment but when I got their I had to wait for almost a half hour before my car went in. They drove my car in on the lift and 3 guys stood their taking turns looking at the bottom of my car and after another half hour they said we can't help you.The waiting room is 2 chairs and a space heater that was not working and the employees look like they just got out of the Voc school.I left this dump and went to Meineke muffler and they fixed it in no time. My catalytic converter flanges were rusting and leaking in front. Lou's quoted me a price of $300 on the phone then $400 in person. The modified price included a catalytic converter, which I thought sounded reasonable. After Lou's repaired the exhaust, immediately upon leaving, my check engine light came on. I brought the car right back. Two mechanics looked at it and tried to reset the engine code with a tester meant for cars 1997 and newer. Mine is a 1995. I told them it was a '95 when they couldn't seem to get any results. One of the mechanics then told me the wires came off my O2 sensor in the process of removing the cat. I asked him if he could have wired it wrong. He said, "no". Apparently, they had done all they could do, so I went home, removed my O2 sensor, compared the wires with a diagram available online, and discovered the wires were mixed up. I removed, rewired and reinstalled the O2 sensor, and guess what? No more check engine light. Also I understood they would weld new connections to the pipes. They didn't. It is all welded together, so if the repair doesn't outlive the car (as I was told it would), I will have to replace the pipe behind the cat as well. I spoke with the man in the office after I solved the check engine problem they created. He assured me it was unacceptable for the sensor to be wired incorrectly, and told me he would make it up to me on my next visit. After the repair I priced the parts and I could have repaired this myself for about $200. I am wondering, "Was this a good deal?" On the plus side, the car is extremely quiet now, and with the O2 sensor correctly installed I should get better gas mileage. I also don't have to worry about gaskets leaking where they welded. They came highly recommended by my mechanic and he thought I wouldn't have to get dirty doing the work myself. BOTTOM LINE: the exhaust work seems good so far. Having to go back under the car myself to fix their work-- not so good. A written estimate is advised. Someone else who does not know cars as well might have gone to a repair shop to fix the check engine light and had to pay labor and the price of a new O2 sensor. Or worse had to pay to troubleshoot the CEL and then get it fixed. Caution is advised if you choose Lou's. And you may want to get what you heard in writing. read more

Can't say enough good things about this shop. My regular shop told me that the muffler, mid pipe, and tailpipe were rusted through but they couldn't replace it because it was custom (news to me). They recommended Lou's. I called at 3:00 (they close at 5:00) to make an appointment and they say I can bring it in right now if I want. I get there a 3:30, they get it up on the lift, tell me the tailpipe can be saved and the muffler and mid pipe would be under $200. I'm out of there by 4:00 with a new muffler and a big smile on my face They are my exhaust guys from here on out, custom or not. read more

Literally the worst customer service I have ever seen. Cocky and arrogant staff that ignores their guests. They obviously do not appreciate business so why give it to them... they also told me I was getting a flowmaster muffler when it was really just a knock off..I called to let them know I didn't get the flowmaster I asked for they insisted I did so I called flowmaster and was told all their mufflers are stamped with the flowmaster name.. I called lous out and then they say that they make their own flowmaster so I told them that this was a pretty shady way to do business and was Hung up on so I recommend going just down the street to mineke who treats you like a customer and gives you what you ask for and not rip you off and lie read more
