History
Established in 1980.
Full time wedding calligrapher for over ten years; prior to that I was a part time calligrapher along with day jobs as a food microbiologist, then an online learning content developer, relationship manager and executive assistant with part time copy editing and writing.
Meet the Business Owner: Jan H.
When I was in first grade I saw a boy lettering the masthead to the area newspaper. I was amazed - I thought only machines could do that. I admired my mother's handwriting and my grandfather's pen collection (though my grandmother scolded me whenever I touched them.) In seventh grade my teacher sent my handwriting off to a contest. I didn't win, but I was the only student in the school whose handwriting had been entered. I think it was in my genes to want to do calligraphy, even though I didn't know its name. As a teen I bought a calligraphy pen, but try as I might, I couldn't learn to use it properly. I was finally able to take a lesson - and never looked back. I took every class I could find, took workshops from the best calligraphers in the world, taught calligraphy for many years, and finally a workshop from the head White House calligrapher cemented 'wedding calligapher' as my goal.
