Office is run down: laser machine wouldn't turn on. Doctor is very sweet, but cluttered offices and not up-to-date technologically.

They are very condescending, unethical, and completely unprofessional. They seem to believe that,…read moresimply because they are a private practice, they can treat people however they please and do not abide to the fair patient treatment practice. They were extremely inconsiderate toward my mother--who is 92 years old and in poor health who arrived on time for her scheduled appointment with the podiatrist, Dr Yu. The staff member, G Yu was very insensitive toward my mom. I tried to explain to G Yu that my mother had an open wound on her back and was in pain; despite having arrived punctually for her scheduled appointment, she was left waiting for over an hour and was the last patient to be seen. I was attempting to kindly intercede on behalf of my mother, who suffers from dementia and cannot speak for herself. G Yu completely disregarded my concerns and in retaliation she told me not to bring my mother back again. G. Yu appears to be the person in charge of the facility--the one who initiated the despicable act of patient abandonment--since the doctor simply complied when she asked him to discharge my mother and hand over her discharge papers. They are clearly in violation of ACA and HIPAA. I would like to remind this family medicine practice that they are not in China. We are in the United States of America, and people here have the right to be treated with respect and fairly. They advertise this website that does not exist: www.advancedmedicalfootcare.org. I would not recommend them at all!

INFECTION WARNING!…read more Please read before scheduling an appointment with Dr. Chhatwal!!!! I have never before written a negative Yelp review but felt obligated to do so after my experience. First of all, I am 28-weeks pregnant. I went to Dr. Chhatwal for a simple ingrown toe nail removal. His assistant came in first who was extremely pleasant, friendly and kind. She took a look at the right toenail and agreed that it was ingrown. She understood my concerns of being careful, what I can and cannot do as a pregnant woman and said we would discuss it all with the doctor when he came in. Next thing I know the doctor comes in. He barely acknowledges me and looks right at my toe. He said yes, this is ingrown, would you like me to take care of it? I said yes and asked if everything was safe as a 28-week pregnant woman. He didn't even look me in the eye and mumbled, "yes." At that point I had a bad feeling but of course didn't speak up. The next thing I know the assistant is telling me that they are going to spray my toe to numb it and I will feel a slight pinch from the local anesthetic he would be injecting. I again asked if this was safe for me to receive and he just nodded. Soon the needle was forcefully going into my right toe, the numbing spray didn't do much to help, and the doctor was not gentle in the least. He touched my toe and asked if it was numb yet. I replied that it was not and he proceeded anyway. He began the procedure and I could feel pain at first but the numbing did kick in. Midway through I realized he didn't even sterilize my toe. I was a little alarmed but didn't speak up. He had just gone ahead and at this point the procedure had already started. Again, the assistant was very kind and was trying to talk to me through it however I wanted to watch and ask what the doctor was doing as he did not even explain how the procedure would go or anything. It was as if she realized the doctor had ZERO bedside manner and was trying to be nice and sweet but that is not what I was looking for. I wanted to be informed about what the heck he was doing and since he barely acknowledged my existence, besides doing the procedure on my foot, I was very uncomfortable. When it was over I asked if I needed to worry about my other foot (left big toe) and that it seemed one was forming there too. Again, without saying much or even looking me in the eye, he began to work on the other foot. No local numbing spray, no local anesthetic, nothing. Didn't even tell me if he thought there was something there or not or ask if I wanted it done. Just started on the toe. I walked out of there extremely uncomfortable and really no idea what had just happened. As the numbing agents wore off my toe was extremely sore but I expected that. I had just had a very minor procedure done. I went to my office and elevated my foot as instructed and pretty much stayed off of it for the rest of the day. That evening as I was trying to fall asleep I realized the pain was getting much more severe and intense. I barely slept that night. When I got out of bed the next morning, I lifted my sweatpants and noticed that my right leg was swollen and purple/red almost entirely up to my knee. I was in excruciating pain. My husband walked up behind me and was very alarmed that my calf was swollen, all from a simple ingrown toenail procedure? We were not sure if this was normal so I did the Epsom Salt soak as I was instructed to do for 10 minutes. An hour went by and we visibly saw it getting worse as I also felt the pain intensifying. We were worried about an infection but also worried that as a 28-week pregnant woman this was not safe for the baby either. We went straight to the AFC Urgent Care on Black Rock Turnpike (I highly recommend them!) and saw a doctor who right away said that I had an infection. Since I hadn't removed the bandage prior to noticing the purplish leg and swelling, it was clear the infection was caused by the procedure and most likely because the area was not clean or the instruments were not clear or some sort of bacteria got in there. I will spare you the rest of the details but I have since been to the hospital and spent many days in extreme pain. I also had to follow-up with a different podiatrist who had to numb me up (as best they could at this point) and do another slightly painful procedure to remove the infected tissue and make sure the antibiotics were working. This podiatrist was phenomenal, thorough, clean and walked me through everything she was doing, every step of the way. I highly recommend her. Her name is Dr. Sparta at Associated Podiatrists in Fairfield. Please do not go to Dr. Chhatwal at Fairfield Podiatry Associates.
