I cannot say enough about Scotus and Lotus Structural Integration... it has literally been life changing for me. I was looking for body work and massage, I had never heard of SI before, and I am so glad I accidentally found it. I've suffered from neck/shoulder pain and lower back pain since I was a teenager, and would experience spasms and debilitating pain every few months and need to go to my chiropractor and sometimes take medication, and since starting the series with Scotus I have not seen my chiropractor once. I have zero pain, zero tension.. my body feels lighter and exercise is much easier and more enjoyable. I am more flexible and even sleep better. I am actually shocked at the results, and so grateful. Not only did this series support my physical body, but also my emotional and spiritual healing, as much of our trauma is stored in our fascial system, but is hard to move out of those areas without this kind of support. Scotus is a consumante healer. When I started my 10 series with him nearly a year ago I was in pretty constant pain. My neck would go out a few times a week, my jaw pain was excruciating and I would get headaches frequently. Fast forward to today and my body is virtually unrecognizable. My posture has improved, my pain has been lessened by about 90% and my neck hasn't gone out since before he began treatment. Scotus has a warm and calming bedside manner. He immediately put me at ease. I was worried that Rolfing would be painful and while there were moments on the table when I had to breathe a little deeper, I was impressed with how painless and enjoyable his bodywork was. I am so grateful to Scotus for the Rolfing sessions we did together! I had previously done a 10 series with another Rolfer in Salt Lake City and was ready to do some follow up work. Scotus asked me some questions about how my body felt and what my goals for the work were before starting. He also asked me to stand and do a few simple motions so he could view my posture and look for any imbalances. I feel so much more grounded, balanced, and aware of my body after working with Scotus. I have a tendency to walk on the outer plane of my feet so he worked on my feet, legs and pelvis quite a bit during our sessions and gave me exercises I can do at home to encourage stepping down on that inner line of my feet. Scotus made sure to check in with how I was doing since Rolfing can be a bit uncomfortable sometimes. It never felt painful to me or beyond what I felt comfortable with and I knew I could just ask him to adjust the intensity if needed. Scotus' Rolfing office is neat and comfortable in a nice building with other offices. It's off the main hallway so it can be easy to pass by if you haven't been before! Parking was relatively easy. I scored parking right outside the building on 4th St. two out of the three times I went for morning appointments. The other time I just parked in the 5th St. lot behind the building and walked around. If you're looking for a Rolfer or Structural Integration practitioner, I highly recommend Scotus at Lotus SI! As a lifetime skeptic, it is a big deal for me to say that working with Scotus changed the way I walk through life - physically and mentally. A natural sloucher with poor balance, I gave up on yoga because I could never hold the postures. I'm the girl who walks into walls and trips on carpet. That one laying down in the back row at Bikram. In working with Scotus, I learned how to (re) walk and plant my feet to the ground. My posture strengthened and - wonder of wonders - I began to hold poses. In this process, my mental status changed. Literally, as I stood taller, I felt better about life. Months later, this holds up. When having a rough day, I mindfully correct my posture and feel my brain shift. (Crazy.) Medical cred: I've had degenerative disc disease most of my life. More recently, I sustained a shoulder injury. The pain flared up during a Rolfing session. Scotus intuited what I needed and worked his voodoo magic. I left pain free. (Of course, as a chronic condition, it returned, but over a much longer period of time, and less intense.) Spaces are important to me. When I walked into the room, I was met with soft lighting, a soothing noise machine and a table with soft, warmed-up sheets. Scotus was genuine and kind. When I was on the table, Scotus met my energy nicely. When I didn't want to talk, he focused on the work. When I had questions or wanted to chat a little, or laugh, he responded in kind. As far as pain, Scotus knew how much pressure my body could hold. If I had a particularly tender spot, I found that saying "ouch" did the trick. :) Honestly, it mostly just felt good and it was kind of awesome think about the connective tissue in my body re-forming to its natural state. The one complaint I have is that Scotus moved out of the area, although it might be worth getting on a plane for a session. :) read more

My first rolfing session & I feel so energized yet relaxed! I've been struggling with sciatica for a year & this deep tissue session was just the ticket. Therapist Scotus worked in the joints & connective tissue & I experienced a profound release & opening, particularly in the piriformus & S.I joint. While some of the spots such as hip & hamstring were pretty painful, the opening was so worth it! I found myself relaxed during much of the session. Scotus has a confident, intuitive touch & his table-side manner very comforting. It makes for a very healing experience. I had never heard of structural integration or rolfing before a friend mentioned it to me and I decided to try it, and I'm glad I found Scotus and LSI! Scotus helped me build awareness within my body and how I hold myself. Some sessions were definitely tougher than others but it was a really eye-opening experience in deepening the relationship I have with my body and also learning where I hold a lot of my tension or pain. Scotus was super respectful and considerate, making sure I knew what he was going to do next, and that I was as comfortable as possible even as we worked through the hardest sessions. Scotus is amazing. I've been going to him for about a year and a half and have done two ten series with him and also weekly maintenance. When I first started working with Scotus, I was recovering from a hip replacement, a fractured femur and using a cane. Within about six months I no longer needed the cane and have been getting better and better each day. I also have life long issues with scoliosis and neck injuries from accidents. With Scotus' amazing hands, I'm getting better each day and have become very in-tune with my body and my needs. I highly suggest Scotus and Rolfing. read more

I really enjoyed my 10 series with Scotus. He has great healing hands and a great attitude. I have had other rolfing practitioners work on me, and would recommend Scotus over the others I have tried as I found him more effective in treating my own physical issues. I will also say that his style of rolfing is not as painful as the others I have tried. So overall Scotus at Lotus Structural Integration is the best rolfer I have tried so far, if you need assistance putting your body back i tune, I would definitely recommend seeing Scotus. I have received Structural Integration, or Rolfing, sessions from over 40 different practitioners over the years, including from Dr. Rolf's proteges, and Scotus Dunshee is one of the really good ones. He has great hands, great intuition, gets to the right places, and works in a way that comfortable, and not painful. Rolfing can sometimes be intense, but Scotus' style of working actually feels really good most of the time, I always feel like I can relax and trust his hands. He has gotten me out of trouble (structural pain that wasn't going away on its own) many times. Scotus is also a super nice guy, very positive and genuine. I did the 10 series and had great results. I have chronic back and hip pain and don't like to take meds. Rolfing/ Massage/ and other body work helps me the most. Scotus is very skilled and knowledgable, he takes the time to listen to what areas are bothering you and also does a thorough assessment of how your posture is with walking and standing. He also provided some exercises and has an overall calming/ caring demeanor. Regular massage doesn't compare if you're looking for some good re-alignment work. read more

I was referred to Scotus for Rolphing by my Chiropractor who was a rolpler before becoming a Dr. Being well seasoned in this profession, I am VERY PICKY about who I use as a body worker and I get at least 4 hours of body work a month. As structural integration goes, the work done is only as good as the therapist and Scotus is top notch.. it also helps if you do the work at home To follow up (if you're doing a 10 series). To be honest Scotus is not the only therapist I've seen, my previous therapist has since retired but the methodology is still the same. If you are having trouble due to previous injuries, or undiagnosed muscle pain and tightness and you just can't figure it out, more than likely you need to do a 10 series and Scotus is your therapist. I have never done a full rolfing session before and it maybe my new favorite thing to show my body some extra love and support!!! Rolfing goes deep into the connective tissue and is so amazing for people with Injuries, tendinitis, tight muscles, or just people who want to stretch their insides! And who doesn't want to do that?!! Scotus does a lovely job of telling you just when to breathe and move. You can really feel his spiritual connection and deep breathing with his work as he is centering your fascia. Such a unique feeling you have never felt. Afterwards you walk around the room to feel the difference and I felt so long, stretched, and balanced. What a beautiful practice that I would love to dive deeper into. This space is perfectly downtown. When you walk in you feel a sense of ease and peace. I was leaving out of town soon so I couldn't do more than one session, but this is much more beneficial when you can do 3 sessions or more :) read more

Initially I was only looking for a good massage therapist for some regular relaxation, but I discovered Rolfing and realized it could help with some posture issues. I have seen Scotus many times now and he is one of the best. Every time I have seen him I leave feeling so relaxed and balanced. I have issues in a lot of places especially my shoulders/neck and lower back and so doing the 10 series was the best option! Scotus has helped me become more aware of my holding patterns and how to change it. His technique is deep and effective without being too painful (tolerable when breathing through it) and is extremely caring and knowledgeable. Rolfing is a wonderful kind of bodywork. I was anxious to try it out because I heard it can be painful, but Scotus at Lotus Structural Integration was very attentive to back off if I needed him to, as well as being very kind and professional. He helped work out problems that I had with my posture and misused muscles that massage therapy did not address. I felt that it was a much better physical therapy than massage.
