The owner is very nice & is a hiker himself, so he'll help you pick out what you need and answer any questions you may have. He took the time to get us both fitted even though it was technically after hours. Turns out he had been on the same hike we had planned and gave us some good tips. The store isn't huge, but he packs a lot in there. Overall, great service & a nice place to walk around and drool over the merchandise.

My youngest son has always been very found of knives and weaponry. So any trip with him to Gulf Shores is not complete until we go here to St Nick's Knives. The shop employee was extremely helpful and nice. I see that a lot of other reviewers have been unhappy with high prices but these guys have premium products like Spyderco, Gerber, Kershaw and much much more. Or even other reviewers unhappy about the 3% surcharge for credit card purchases. Well fellow consumers if you were not already aware, that's the same price each merchant has to pay for us to use our plastic cards, so this shop is simply passing on the cost to only those who use cards. The helpers are quite nice, well informed, helpful and polite + hours are reasonable enough to accommodate the majority of schedules. Prices seem quite reasonable from what I saw - although I only went in for a single item [BDU desert weight pants - YAY! cargo pants from Mars] and these were less than paid for same / similar item at BOTH other surplus establishments OR online resources. They also have a genuine dog tag maker machine with a good selection of blanks, though if you have your heart set on a pair or three of these EXCELLENT identification items - call first to make sure an operator for this cool machine will be around. BONUS: this store is located in a REALLY cool [read: non-white] part of Pcola with some excellent dining options [YAY!
