Even in Sydney there isn't many Kiwi fish & chip shops.. haven't had a bad one yet & this one had some really good reviews so had to hit this place up :)!! As soon as i walked in it was a friendly Asian guy working behind the counter who greeted me, I'm a guy who always has to study the menu so i walk out satisfied haha!! I was like is there a favourite & he was like the fish of the day is always popular :), that day was Spot Trevally which i haven't had in yonks, got a greek salad, Kamara chips (like sweet potato) & a L&P can :D!! If i can remember wright for the lot it was just under or just over $30 cause i got a packet of cheese Curlies &  cheese n bacon Rashuns :D. Waiting time was about 10 - 15 minutes, you become an expert at counting the waiting time when your hungry :)!! Without a doubt the Trevally was on point for taste same with the greek salad :), i left the Kamara chips & L&P last.. for every sip 1 chip :D!!.. the chips were definately the highlight cause i can't remember the last time i had them!! The chips and drink were a bit more expensive as per usual but when they dont sell them at normal supermarkets you buy them when you see them :)!! Whenever I'm back in Melbourne I'm definitely coming back for a feed even if it's just for the Chips :D.

Pretty good fish and chips!…read more This place is hidden under the Tribeca Apartments. It's nice and clean with a good range of options. The batter was nice and crispy, the fish was fresh and the chips were exactly right. The only complaint I have would be the scallops - they were tiny and didn't seem to be up to the same standard as everything else. They also sell a handful of NZ snacks and drinks.

It seems that the closer you get to the city the better the fish and chip shops become. Anyway, I…read morespied this place as I was wondering around Northcote and decided to check it out, if only for the chips (which is the main reason that I actually go into fish and chips shops - to find out who makes the best chips), Anyway, unlike a lot of the shops out in the suburbs, this one you can actually sit inside and have you meal, which I think is a real bonus because sometimes you simply live too far away to be able to actually enjoy your chips. As for the chips, they were all that bad, and the fish they had on offer was pretty nice as well (as were the Dim Sims, the other thing that I like to grab when I visit a fish and chip shop). So yes, this place was pretty nice, and it made some pretty decent chips as well, so I'd be happy to give it another shot.

Everything arrived in reasonable time and hot and well packaged. On the negative side though, the potato cakes were slightly hard. The batter was lovely but the hardness in them was immensely worrying and close to unforgivable. Others said the dim sums too weren't quite cooked but mine tasted ok. It's a bare pass only unfortunately because of the sub par cakes.

There are a couple of other tokenistic ocean references adorning the blue walls of this rather simple and delightful fish and chippery, along with an arcade grab-a-prize game near the entrance. Prices are standard for city fish and chips, and the usual selection of fish, snacks, souvlakis and burgers along with a couple of vegetarian options and a fritter based desert menu. Although it serves the packs in boxes, it's an example of really good fish and chips. The chips are crispy on the outside and buttery on the inside and eating the flake is like burning your tongue on a greasy piece of heaven. I recommend getting everything fish and chips based covered in chicken salt. Enjoy.
