Out of the 200 or so McDonalds in and around the city you'd have to be unfortunate to stumble across this one, but if you are driving by on Pascoe Vale Road one day and get the Macca's munchies, please drive on five more minutes to the next one. Living nearby I've been here three times over a couple of months, and as with baseball if you get three strikes with me, you're out. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect too much out of a cheap fast food joint. But when I've asked for a bacon mcmuffin (notice, not even a mention of egg), and get an egg mcmuffin, particularly when I've gone through the drive-thru in my PJ's with my two young children, all of us sick, I get a bit peeved that I need to suffer the humiliation to enter the store in a dishevelled state to get what I ordered. On my second visit I can't even get annoyed at getting a shot of coffee with a tea bag, because you know that's how they do a black tea at McCafé. I do feel like slapping the face of the little upstart who then stands there and argues with me that yes indeed, that is a black tea, and how did I want it then if that wasn't right -hmmph!? The straw that broke the camels mcback came after a long day of traveling for work. I wearily pulled into the drive-thru, relieved for the Macca's dinner meal that was going to save me from an hour of tortuous cooking. Yeah well, saved me from cooking three meals at least; unfortunately one whole section of the order was missing. In the end I guess my bowl of steamed vegies with Singapore needles in a blend of Asian sauces should have been fulfilling enough, but even without tasting a bite McDonalds had managed to leave a sour taste in my mouth. So, the problem isn't about how shit it tastes, coz lets face it Maccas isn't receiving a Chef's hat anytime soon for any of their outlets. It's the simple principle of trading and consumerism; it's not worth paying even $1 for a product if it's the wrong bloody one.

Now you'd expect an occasional mistake to be made when fast food joints are busy but I'd say 8 out of 10 times there's something missing or replaced in our order. WTF! Don't the staff get trained anymore? Don't they listen to customers' orders? We've had to repeat our order 2, 3 or more times before staff have finally got it. And then of course we get the order & it's wrong! Is there a language difficulty, or are the staff there just hard of hearing or do they have learning difficulties? Or don't they care? Surely this needs to be looked into by management. If you can avoid Oak Park maccas, do so, do yourself a favour & save yourself the disappointment - go eat elsewhere.

They'd have 10 people working behind that counter, at least..the phone doesn't stop ringing... We usually always stop by when going out to catch up.. We get the same order: 1 piece Fish each, Chips each, 2 Potato Cakes each and 2 Steamed Dimsims each - for 8 - Always costs under the $80 mark - That's less than $10 per person. Our friends make a nice big salad, a couple bottles wine...maybe a pudding... A nice cheap night out, for all of us, but the food is good...or as good as Fish and Chips can get...!!! The set up is different, and like as if they took a tip from the whole food truck craze. There's a steady stream of people, which I always take as a good thing. The first visit was strictly a milkshake mission. The Ferrero Rocher was perfect and complete chocolate hazelnut, not a let down. The Creme Brulee was good too, but I wish I ordered the Ferrero Rocher. Both were thick, but not too thick, just a really good consistency. And sweet, but not too sweet. The second visit involved going all out with their menu choices: a herb crusted chick burger, Raffaelo shake and waffle cheese fries. And all I can say is whoa. This meal is not meant for one. There's no way. I was happy with everything, but it was so overwhelming to try and finish everything. The chicken burger was a handful on a lovely Sourdough bun, and had a rich Alfredo sauce. The waffle fries were yummy but had a thick and heavy three cheese sauce. The shake was beautiful and just like liquefied Raffaelo, which is exactly what you'd want it to be. It was a learning experience, next time would be one or the other (burger vs waffle fries), the shakes are a must. Or maybe I'd split the burger and still have the shake and fries. We were a little confused upon arrival as there is a burger track situated at the front - so we thought that Burgies might have been a burger truck and not a 'dine in' kind of experience... but we soon realised that they had both indoor and outdoor seating, and the truck was there to take orders. We both ordered 'The Lava' burger with an added patty, waffle cheese fries with added avocado, and gelato thick shakes - one being Strawberry Cheesecake and the other Ferrero Rocher. Price wise they stack up pretty well against their competitors. Their most expensive burger is $12.00, and to add-on a beef patty only costs an extra $2.50 - which is amazing value! They have a range of burgers including beef, chicken, lamb and vegetarian options. Their shakes and sides were around average price. We were given a restaurant pager, and then took a seat inside. The venue is really great! We loved the set up, and we loved the use of the crates on the walls which tied in with the industrial area. It has a modern interior, and even had a play pen for kids which we thought was a great idea for families that visit! It wasn't long before our pager went off, so we went and grabbed our food. Everything looked delicious, and we were particularly excited about the waffle fries. They tasted scrumptious! Lovely and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The avocado and cheese sauce went really well with them, and the serving size was definitely decent. 'The Lava' burger was really yummy too! The patty was spicy, which we did not initially realise, but it was enjoyable. The tasty cheese, egg and caramelised onion tasted really nice together, and the lettuce gave a bit of refreshment to break down the spiciness and warmth. We quite enjoyed the mild-peri sauce too! The shakes were thick and creamy, and conveniently given in take-away cups. We were impressed by the overall location, service and food at Burgies - and highly recommend that you check them out.

The fried lemon chicken is one of my favourites, and it's one of the only Asian take out stores I know where the chicken always tastes fresh, looks fresh and doesn't have pink or gristly bits. It's usually a testament to how good the food is at a place when it's always chock a block full of people waiting and Kyoto is one of these places. I don't like waiting though, and you don't have to long because Kyoto is always well staffed. I'm always pleased to see just how often they bring out freshly cooked food and they don't just throw it on top of what is already there, the old stuff is replaced with the new stuff which adds ticks for me! You can't go past the fried chicken with lemon or sweet and sour sauce, sweet and sour pork, beef with black bean sauce, noodles, rice and stir fried vegetables. And if you're a fan of sushi Kyoto has a delectable and large variety...the Californian rolls are simply superb.
