This place has a 1st floor and 2nd floor. Note that there is no balcony view in this building. Service was decent. I ordered a pitaya agua fresca drink that was more of a lemonade. My friends ordered a pitaya drink and another drink. For appetizer, we order the guacamole con chicharonnes and asada pizza. The guacamole appetizer seems to be a mix of salsa and avocado and not pure guacamole. The chicharonnes were crispy and crunchy. Asada pizza was pretty good. It comes with pineapple on the pizza and it was delicious. I'm glad I got to try the asada pizza here. read more

Stopped here late night for a quick bite to eat. Located in the city center and the area was very busy and had high energy. Large indoor and outdoor restaurant, multiple screens for watching sports. Very enjoyable al pastor taco, liked the sliced meat presentation. Horchata was also solid. read more

This is a franchise so you know food will be good and consistent but nothing exceptional. I liked everything I got there and portions were really huge. I love this place but I don't remember anything outstanding. I just remember the cheese with chorizo was interesting but cheese wasn't really cheese pull material. It didn't pull as I wanted to and was really sticking together and hard to separate which made me hard to eat it. Everything tasted great though, I recommend to go if you have no idea where to go. We walked in to order to go. It seems they are more of a dine in restaurant. Our order taker seemed new but she still did a great job. We received complimentary Jamaica while we waited for our order. We visited this lovely place while in Merida with a our guide. He asked what we wanted for lunch and when we responded with al pastor - he took us straight to Los Trompos. It also came as a suggestion from a friend of ours who had visited the city a few times as well. The place is really quite nice inside. Very clean and inviting. The prices were perfect too. We ordered a ton of food- I was terrified to get the bill. When I did- I laughed because of how cheap it was! We ordered an order of al pastor tacos, al pastor nachos (which was big enough for 3 of us to eat), steak fajitas, an order of guacamole, and another dish that was like an al pastor quesadilla. We ordered a beer, a Coke, a bottle of water, and an iced tea as well. The total bill was about 600 Pesos- or $30 USD. Score! The food was really good. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I especially liked the hot salsa that they served with the food and the tamarindo sauce. Everything seemed to be cooked perfectly and there was so much food. A great place for breakfast for sure, and I'd bet, for lunch and dinner as well. Obviously a popular place for locals because we saw a family celebrate a birthday with a cake and everything. The restaurant staff donned party hats and sang the Mexican version of Happy Birthday to the blushing mom. Los Trompos is located just one block north of the Plaza Principal (city center). Service was excellent and I appreciated the frequent refills of the delicious rich coffee. On a Sunday morning, the restaurant was busy but we were seated promptly. In Mexico, I have settled into a common routine of having a omelette and bread for breakfast. This morning was no exception, as I picked an omelette with tocino (bacon), champiñónes (mushrooms) and queso (white cheese). JP went with the chilaquiles, and he liked them. As a side, I ordered a biscuit, and Lordy, it was so wonderful. The toasted and warm biscuit was served with a cream cheese containing crumbled walnuts. Five stars plus! We ate here on New Years Eve so the menu was set including a few of their most popular items to choose from for the main entree. We loved the steak with cheese and mushrooms and the smoked pork. Those dishes alone are worth returning for. Even though we had a set menu the price was very fair considering it was a holiday no reservations needed. read more

If Yelp had 10 stars I would rate los trompos 10 * for breakfast. Their fruit platter alone is enough for 2 ppl and nicely presented. We made.the mistake of ordering additional food like the combo French toast and the combo croissant. But finished them anyway since they were quite good. Delicious food and great service. We had the taco gringa and a loaded baked potato. Both were excellent. We ate there on a Sunday night about 9:00 PM and it was very busy. They had tables outside on the street as well as inside. A band played inside and the atmosphere was festive. Would definitely eat there again. read more
