You can't beat the location--it's walking distance to the hot springs, the local bathhouse, and sweet shops nearby. My room had a handy kitchen, there's a cute playground on-site for kids, and the staff (who live right on the property) were warm, friendly, and welcoming. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the property is definitely older and could use some maintenance updates. But if you're looking for a peaceful, cozy mountain stay with unbeatable access to local spots, it's a great base camp!

Ok, so this place has not had reviews since 2019, let me bring you up to date...2022…read more I saw the good reviews for this place and thought I'd try it out. This place is getting 2 stars only because the bed was comfy, it was warm and the Tv worked. The owner was nice, friendly. Now, let's get to the bad parts. The previous person who was in #6, was late leaving...therefore, I had to find something to do for the next hour while they got the place cleaned and ready...she did offer me another room but, not for the same price. Where I went will be another review and for that time it worked out. My room was nice and clean for the most part. The bathroom sink was clogged and slow to drain, Toilet was low to the ground, there is mold on the ceiling, and the fan was covered with dust, and bugs, spiders on the wall and ceiling. Oh, and I had a wasp in my room! The shower sprayer was to harsh, and not enough hot water. The coffee pot had no coffee filters. It was quiet and was able to take my dog out at night, and pretty dark, the street light came on then went off. The lady that owns it has the place very cluttered and the kitchen where I went to check out was pretty cluttered and dirty. So, if I go up there again, I will look for another place and pay more to make sure I feel more comfortable.

The tall pines are beautiful except for the fire damaged areas. The lake is very low. Right? So, I haven't been to enough New Mexico fishing lakes to provide an honest assessment. Having that written, it's a nice little lake. Not horrendously far from us city folk in Albuquerque. It has camping spots and is just as accommodating for day use folk as it is for campers. Rather small though, and for the curious, no motorized craft allowed. Just canoes and little blow up guys out there. We went on Father's Day, arrived at about 0730 and we were still hard pressed to lay claim to a good spot. However, by the time we rolled at noon, insane infestation of humans crawling all over, under, and beside one another for a place to cast their line. In fact, as we drove out the forest rangers had the entrance blocked off. It was 100% full! What did that do for the fish catching odds? It ruined it! Or, maybe I'm just a lousy fisherman, IDK. In any case, it wasn't the best day to land that big one. But you know what they say, a bad day of fishing beats a good day at work every time! Give 'em a go, I think you be pleased. Cheers!

The location couldn't have been more perfect in regards to the hot springs. The inn is also super easy to find. There are a couple super cute restaurants/bars with live music. I went to Los Ojos Restaurant Saloon where RND was performing (they were great!). Highly recommend the Laughing Lizard Inn!
