I came here on a stormy night after a long day on a motorcycle. The streets were rolled up, the town was down for the night. This place was wonderful. It was a warm, dry place to spend a night and reset after some long spring time miles. Price was very reasonable, the hostess was polite and prompt, and the room was great. I'm from Nevada, every amenity had a charge in the casino resorts. This place was no frills, but what you needed it had without excessive fees. Always leave these places better than you found them, so they stay in business to care for the next weary traveler. Loved the tiles shower. read more

Apparently this is the nicer of the motels in Cuba, New Mexico. The motel is straight out of the 1950's and apparently hasn't been renovated since then. The decor and furntiure is quite retro, but not in the fun way. Rooms are ample, with kitchens, although all the beds are doubles, which are too short for me. My room looked out upon an abandoned, rusty truck. The owners have been everything from friendly to completely ignoring me, when I've come to check in/ask questions. The TV has a seemingly random selection of channels including VH-1, HBO, and CNN but not MTV and Comedy Central. There is also a friendly cat who might come into your room if you leave the door open. Also it is apparently the only motel in town with wireless internet. I'd recommend driving an hour south to civilization instead of staying in this god forsaken town. read more

Simple. Clean. The Hollyhocks and Willow tree made it feel nicer than the very old and bare motels elsewhere in town. Super nice staff.

This 1950s place appears to be the merger of two across-the-road motels. We stayed in a unit across the road from reception, which appeared (from the outside) to be the better of the two (if in doubt, ask to look at rooms on each side). We found our room to be surprisingly spacious, well-appointed with a comfortable king-sized bed, and very clean. Yes, the layout is a throwback to 1950, but that's part of its charm. It was the perfect place to stay the night before a visit to Chaco Canyon. And you can't beat the price. Before heading to Chaco, be sure to have breakfast at the Cuban Cafe, which opens at 6:00 a.m. read more

When your options are 1. sleeping in your car 2. driving 100 miles to Farmington, Nm or 3. staying the night in Cuba, NM you really cant go wrong with the Frontier. Straight out of a episode of Unsolved Mysteries, the Frontier has never been renovated since it was built in 1953 (just a guess). But all things considered, it was clean and cheap if stuck in the same conundrum again we would stay another night. read more

Was traveling home from Albuquerque after surgery. Spent the 1st night in Albq at the Ramada, 2nd night at The Frontier in Cuba... The Frontier was just as nice and cleaner than the Ramada.. rooms may not be as big, but it was a much nicer stay than Ramada.. Would stay there again without hesitation and will recommend it to anyone needing a room in the area. Better than most of the big chain hotels. read more

We stopped for the night rather spontaneously on our way to camp at Chaco Canyon at the beginning of December. The motel itself was just a fine place to stay for cheap, warm enough, comfortable enough, better than a Motel 6. The manager was nice. But the thing is that the City of Cuba is a dangerous place. Just after we checked in, I wanted to go for a little walk to stretch my legs after a day of driving. I hadn't gone 50 feet when I was attacked by a pit bull unrestrained in a neighbor's front yard. Fortunatelty it stopped its attach after biting me hard on the leg. It backed off, after, blood filling my jeans leg, I turned to it, put up my hand and shouted "No!" When I crossed the highway and made my way back to the motel, the manager was very responsive about calling the police. The problem is that the clinic in town wouldn't see me because they were just closing and the hospital was 80 miles away. That was just the immediate problem. It turns out that for about the last 20 years, Cuba has had no way to enforce animal control laws since they have no animal control in the City and the County Animal Control can't cross an incorporated boundary. The dog turned out not to have been vaccinated for rabies which I learned only a week later when I returned home after persistently trying to get hold of the police report during the last part of our road trip. The officer was finally able to tell me that not only was the dog not vaccinated, but 5 days after my incident, the dog had bitten another person-- a senior man walking by the house. When I returned to my home in Washington State, my doctor insisted I get rabies treatment (expensive and painful). The woman who owns the dog still has not been made to restrain it and has yet to have any consequences even though we have pursued every avenue possible. Avoid Cuba NM if you can! I'll update this review if there is any resolution to the problem. read more

We really liked this motel and were happy to find it. The bed was super comfy and the sheets were nice and smooth (not scratchy). Flat screen TV, free wifi that works, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot. It could use a remodel, but we were looking for comfort and a decent price and this little inn really delivered. VERY satisfied. In addition, the service has been fantastic and the women at the counter has been so sweet and incredibly helpful. Glad we chose this motel. read more

The staff were very friendly at the front desk. The price was around $40. For two beds. The couch in the room was dirty looking and had an odor. So did my pillow. They apologized about the couch and gave me another pillowcase and pillow. Don't know if I would come back. Wasn't expecting much and didn't get much. But I was tired from riding my bicycle across the U.S. And slept the best I had in days. read more

We are passing through as we hike the CDT and had the opportunity to stay at the Frontier. Simply a wonderful stay with amazing staff. The room was perfect for the two of us and very cozy as a cold front moved in upon our arrival. We would stay here again in a heartbeat, and after our first night, we even stayed another night, which was not originally planned. Thank you 100 times for being so hospitable to us hikers!! read more

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much when I booked the room.. I assumed just the basics, maybe even subpar. I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! The customer service was phenomenal. We got in a little late after hiking Chaco Canyon, but the woman who helped us was incredibly sweet; motherly even. She even upgraded our room at no extra cost (I know that's not typical, but we were super appreciative). We stayed on the side opposite the office and the rooms were clean and, dare I say it, modern! Large mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Usually I'm skeptical about using the motel products, but the shampoo smelled super yummy too. Nice touch. Anyway, it's just really nice when you aren't expecting much at all and get blown away. However, it was truly her customer service that blew us out of the water (or lack thereof in nm) because we dropped our keys in the drop box (REAL KEYS, not a card! What?!) to check out and this same sweet woman comes out of the office and flags us down just to say goodbye and tell us about the local food joints for breakfast! How cute?! As long as that sweet woman is there, your stay will be phenomenal! read more

My family and I were driving from Austin, TX to Salt Lake City, Utah and decided we were done driving the first day as we approached Cuba, NM. We found the Frontier and although it's not very attractive from the outside we were willing to give it a try. A bit more expensive than we thought it would be ($70) but we were happy with the staff and room. We had two queen beds and a couch. Everything was outdated BUT was comfortable and clean which is what we care about. Our heater wasn't working when we got to our room (9:30 pm and 28 degrees) so the lady came and relit the pilot light. Heated up quickly! The shower was clean and had soap and shampoo available. The shower took FOREVER to heat up but when it did it was great! I would recommend this motel to anyone. If you put more emphasis on outward appearances than you do on comfort and cleanliness then this place is not for you. Yes, it's an old motel but you will get your money's worth. read more

The place was just as good as any of the other motels I have stayed in. Bed was comfy. Satellite basic cable TV. Swamp cooler was a bit loud. Room really brightens up in the morning. If you have ever stayed at comfort inn or the like choice hotels then you have stayed somewhere like Frontier. read more

Cozy describes this place. My experience was better than expected. As of the end of July 2016, unit 1 has a firm bed and was clean. I was actually especially impressed with the tiling in the bathroom and shower. Nothing '50s about that! Very clean. Price was $55 for just me and I thought that was a little high but I'll stay here again on my next trip through that way. read more

A good deal for the price - no frills, comfortable, friendly staff, good restaurant close by. Would stay again.
