Every year for 3 days this market is put up in the old city where different craftsmen display their produce. From herbal soaps to 21 different types of spanish empanadillaa, tea varities and spices from morocco, potters making the famous andalucian pottery on spot are few to say. It is organised by Institución Ferial de Cádiz (Ifeca) every year for 3 days in August to promote local craftsmen business. One can find all the typical spanish food delicacies served here at a reasonable price. This year it was held on 17,18,19 August 2012 in the neighbourhood of El Pópulo. The dates may vary every year depending on the weekend.

When I had conejo (rabbit) over a month ago here, my friend commented he would like to taste that too. Now that they are here in Rota, Spain, i decided to have it too and set it up with Antonio selecting rabbit, with rice. It was great with my friend eating all his within minutes then using the bread to sop up all the gravy which was delicious. We finished it off with a creamy natillas which I have never had before; all tasty and great as is everything in Rota and Spain. However, I did spy some local old men trying to enjoy their lunch, as well and they were all drinking a beer and eatin' paella. One side is the tavern, with outside seating and the other side is to go fried fish in a paper cone. The to-go side was PACKED, so we snagged a spot at the bar on the other side and quickly ordered up 4 beers, a tapa size of the paella and a fried fish platter for 2. The paella was delicious and the fried fish platter was huge, with chunks of fried fish, whole fish, calamares, cod croquettes and more. I'm not the most adventurous fish eater, and I went for it. Not fancy at all, but just super fresh seafood, breaded and deep fried. Not a ton of flavor in the breading, but all good. All that food for about $20 USD. Not too shabby.

I love this busy market on the Triana side of Seville. It is frequented by locals who get meats,…read morefish, produce and some food to eat....as well as by tourists and visitors. There are many many food stalls to choose from and the food choices abound. We got some fruit to eat while walking around and the people working the stalls are nice and warm. Check it out next time you are in the area, it's the true Spanish market type.
