Al pastor

El Pastor tacos is why you come here. This is a sit down restaurant where a waitstaff serves you. It's quick and tasty. The tacos come with a slice of pineapple and soft corn tortillas. The condiments are on the table: onions, cilantro, salsa, jalapeños, etc. I highly recommend this place for el pastor tacos and flan. The flan servings are huge.

I was here for one thing and one thing only. Al pastor. And theirs are just fine, I wouldn't however put them in any top of class categories as I've had better even in the surrounding area. A little less crunchy, a little less moist and a little less favorable than I'm used to. However their fame is unquestionable as they are busy and featured on Netflix's taco chronicles. A visit would not be a waste of stomach space and area has lots of culinary gems.

The outside, busy tacos!

Typical Mexican taco place that has history. The standouts were Lungua, Tripa and Caveza. The Pastor was truly mediocre. Fast great service, so order 3 tacos at a time. If you order more at a time they'll get cold and that is no Bueno. It's always busy but they go fast. Take cash!

The best tacos in town! I have never had a delicious taco de tripa the way I had it today. Wow everything's was just wow! delicious tacos and Jamaica. Definitely recommend to go and get a taco de tripa, cabeza and costilla. Get the costilla with cheese, you'll love it! The service was great! They all are super humble and welcoming. Definitely my favorite spot for tacos in Mexico City!

We visited around 3:30/4 pm on Friday so we missed the dinner rush. Our wait in line to order was about 10 minutes. You order first at the register and then seat yourself They have seating downstairs and upstairs. I recommend dining upstairs because they have some windows along the wall and it's a nice view of the neighborhood. For drinks we had the agua de jamaica con guayba and a topo chico. I've never heard of mixing agua de jamaica con guayaba but it works well. It's not too sweet, and they somehow balance each other out. It is served in a chilled steel cup, so it's quite refreshing. The drinks came out within minutes of us being seated. For tacos, I would skip the carne asada; it wasn't bad but it's not the best I've had. The stars of the show were the ornico taco and the taco de trompo. Their ornico taco comes with chicharon, ornico salsa (very spicy), and pickled onions. The tacos de trompo had fresh pineapple in them and they were just wow. Please try them. They do have non-meat options like quesadillas and a taco de aguacate. You can order any of the tacos with tortilla de maiz o harina (corn or flour). We also had the half order of papas which are nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They serve everything with 5 different salsa options. I loved all of them except for the yogurt-based one. It looks white and creamy but it wasn't for me. The food took about 20 minutes to come out but at least we were seated. Like I said, it's a crowded spot but I think it's worth the wait. ¡Provecho!

We got the three types of tacos they recommended at the counter Quick service, decent prices, but you can definitely find something better if you're going for straight taste.

While my physical body was aboard the airplane as the wheels slammed into the pavement at Benito…read moreJuarez Airport, my heart and soul were already at El Turix. The first meal of the trip is the most important. It sets the tone. The trip goes how that first meal goes, and I'd gotten so many passionate recommendations for El Turix, it became the obvious choice. I called the uber straight to the promised land, and hopped out with my luggage, into a run down, no frills interior. Just how I like it. I wish the written word could do any justice to how it smelled in here, but I won't even try. I can only imagine it is what a teenage girl feels when she walks into a Sephora. I ordered 4 cochinita pibil tacos, which is the only thing on the menu. Cochinita Pibil is a traditional Mexican dish that is slow roasted pulled pork. They pull the tortillas off the griddle and put them into this enormous pan of the pibil to give them a little bit of the juice and glisten from the pork juice. They then STUFF each taco, roll them up, and hand them to you on a plastic plate. I topped them off with the salsa verde and dug into them right outside. These babies actually exceeded my expectations. I was FLOATIN. Pork juice leaking out on every bite with flavor that can only be obtained through that traditional slow roast. It truly set the tone for the rest of the trip. This is the kind of simple, well executed meal that makes me grateful to be alive. IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo
