Been here several Times and tried a lot of different foods. I think we've honed in our order after this last visit. The chips and salsa are fabulous. Love the flavor especially for those that don't like cilantro like me. Then the guac! It's just fresh avocado but I love it. And a margarita. Haven't loved the grilled meat, always seems overcooked and tough but could just be how we ordered because of the mixed company. Flavor seems lacking also though. Tried the beset salad this last time and wouldn't recommend. Looked pretty but the beets were lacking flavor and then there was an odd sauce on top. The food is really good here but I hate that the bar leaves out chips and salsa for anyone to eat, they aren't brought out individually, just remain out there for everyone to put their fingers into. I asked for a new salsa and was brought back watery salsa, like he filtered out the tomatoes. Felt like a F you for asking. That said, I do like the food and have already had 4 meals here, and more to come. Service at the restaurant tables is way better than the bar and since it's at the airport they want 20% tip, regardless of the service. I offended the bar tender when I said 15%. Listen if you ignore me, don't check on me and give me watered down salsa, what do you expect?! Everything I've eaten, I've loved and would order again. We ordered a platter of steak for 4 people for lunch yesterday and I have no idea what the menu item was but it was delicious!! It came with tortillas, sopes, guacamole, onions, chopped chilis and a little melted cheese for each of us. The Gaoneras Fresno tacos are delicious but 3 is a lot for one person. I also ordered a half ensalada de la casa with it, so maybe that's why it was too much. Another time I ordered the camarones rellenos and they were outstanding!! Ate every last bite!! Last night I ordered the Taco envenenado and queso fundido with mushrooms, plus a salad, but it was too much! It was all so good and since the salad arrived last, it came home with me. I was only in town for an overnight layover. I walked over to Los Fresnos and enjoyed a few drinks at the bar. I wasn't too hungry but they served some awesome chips & salsa. I loved they would put my beer in a super freezer and served in a frosted mug. I didn't even have to ask. I ordered the ribeye tacos. The steak was perfectly cooked and if I'm in Monterrey again, I'll go back and have a steak dinner. read more

Really good food. Fresh crispy fried chips were surprisingly flaky and salsa was solid mix of fresh ingredients. Recommended by local, its an Argentenian/Northern Mexico restaurant. Lots of good steak, but diverse menu with Tacos and Tostadas, Steaks Chicken and Fish. I got red snapper al la diablo which sounded hot. It was whole deep fried snapper and done very well. This came with steamed veggies and mashed potatoes,but the rice was best side. Buttery goodness. Filet was also at table. Looked good, covered in mushrooms and onions. My guest enjoyed it. The was vegetarian in our group, and the grille a bowl of vegetables and cheeses which was welcome choice for him. read more

This place is best steakhouse in Mexico. It isn't for vegetarians. Its for people who love meat. I recommend the thick ribeye or regular ribeye. both are good and for 20-30 dollars us are worth it. I thought Monterrey had cows and Narcos. I was blown away. it has cows but, it doesn't smell like El Paso and the women are beautiful. If you want to retire there are alot of single moms out here looking for a future stepfather. That's just my impression of the place....It's great! read more

On an overnight trip to Monterey I came to this place for dinner. The tortilla and three varieties of Salsa at the table were wonderful. I ordered a fresh Flavored lemonade that was amazing. I had a Rib Eye steak - a good size and decent quality and the guacamole was a bit on the thin side. Altogether a very good meal and very inexpensive by US standards. I think it all came to $25 US. I didn't expect to find such a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, but this place blew my mind! [ Drinks ] First of all, happy hour here is THE BEST. Buy one get one free drinks 6pm-9pm. Beers are 32 pesos, which is roughly $1.70 for 2 beers during happy hour. Highly recommend their Jarrito drink, which taste like juice but it actually has 2 shots in it (or 4 shots during happy hour). [ Food ] Monterrey is known to have amazing family style steak meals. Here's some things I would highly recommend: 1. Rib Eye Aguachile appetizer -- shareable appetizer with Rib eye in some kind of citrus/worcestershire sauce with grilled onions on the side. Rib eye was super tender and juicy. Probably my favorite dish of the night and I HIGHLY recommend this! 2. Parrilladas with Aguja de Rib, Rib Eye, and Tablitas -- 3 different cuts of rib eye in a combo with guacamole, chorizo cheese, and beans. All 3 types of meats are tender and grilled perfectly. 3. Chicharron de Rib Eye -- kind of served like grilled rib eye with taco essentials all around the bowl and tortilla on the side. Delicious! 4. Mollejas de Res Asadas -- Came out on a sizzling plate. The exterior doesn't look like much. Along a highway near hotels but nothing else. Inside, it is upscale and fancy. Service is moderately paced and food is delicious. I'd say the food was mostly authentic, but the menu catered to English speakers. There wasn't much in Spanish. Some descriptions would be helpful for some of the dishes that's aren't common. There was an interesting mix of music playing. I would go back. Make sure you have a long time to dine and patience. The food is worth it. read more

We we're staying nearby and decided to try Los Fresno's. I ordered the Arrachera and my husband had the Mexican chicken. Before the meal we had quesadillas and some complimentary soup. Los Fresnos is an excellent place to sit and have a nice meal. The menu is impressively long, with a mix of several Mexican dishes and western entrees. The food is delicious with good portions. Prices are a bit higher than normal for Monterrey, probably because this is a sit-down restaurant that's located in a plaza filled with American chain hotels full of international travelers. Still, good value compared to what these dishes would cost back in the states. The place is clean, bright, with a lively atmosphere. People seemed friendly and welcoming. (Not sure if how their English was, we spoke Spanish the entire time). Next time I'm in town, I'm definitely coming back! read more

I've been coming to Monterrey for 10 years and this is hands down my favorite restaurant when staying near the airport. Place is pretty good for real northern Mexican food. Of the many traditional dishes they have on the menu, you can't go wrong with arrachera tacos or the molcajete filled with meat and guacamole. This place is always busy even during the week but since they have ample seating it's not usually a problem to get a table quickly. read more

This place is AMAZING! I had the ribeye cracklings and I was impressed! The meat was so tender and everything was served hot!
