"Los Duendes" Restaurant is our favorite when we visit Horcón, a scenic Chilean fishing village, about an hour from Viña Del Mar.I recommend first stopping in Horcón. Spend at least an hour there. Walk to the Bridge of Wishes (Deseos). If you're lucky you'll see a sea lion sunning on the beach. But don't get lured into a restaurant there. Put "Los Duendes Restaurant"' on your GPS and follow a few back roads to Los Duendes. We love this restaurant and inside the decor is themed around elves (duendes)!. Comfortable seating indoors and outdoors.
We always order their Machas à la Parmesana (razor clams). The owner, Emilio, greeted us and when we asked, he said they had fresh Machas à la Parmesana although the big ones were due in on Friday. Oh well, they weren't big but they were delicious. The menu is extensive. Something to please everyone! Claudio, our waiter, added to the charm here. We followed his recommendation and ordered Congrio à la Plancha, the most moist grilled fish. I'm sure it would have been delicious fried too but we try to eat healthy. With the fish I chose my favorite. "Puré Rústica," mashed potatoes with caramelized onions, mushrooms, 0lives and i forget what else was in it The sweetness from the onions blows me away. For dessert we had un café helado, coffee with ice cream. Great meal, great atmosphere, great attention. We will be back for sure. A relative has a condo in nearby Cau Cau Well worth the visit. A hidden gem!! read more
