Churros
Meagan G.

Best. Authentic. Mexican. I will come here every single chance I get. I have enjoyed everything on the menu we have tried on multiple occasions. The salsa is soooo good- I finished it with a spoon. Don't sleep on the churros if you have room for something sweet. We were surprised by the ice cream that came with it! Time and time again, the tacos are the best. Very friendly staff and cute clay cups and plates.

Small business with a Big heart! This fine gem is tucked away in an inconspicuous location. Wonderful greeting upon walking in, hope you're ready to try your bilingual skills! So many choices, my tummy wasn't large enough for how many items my eyes wanted to order! Variety of drinks, sure to find something you will like and enjoy the wonderful homemade food. Order a Birria quesadilla, Carne Asada street tacos, and a Birria torta. Side of guacamole with a large Mexican cola and Jamaica with ice. Loved the food, next time going to order the chips with salsa, my tummy was too full and the variations of sauce were amazing! This place is epic, a rare find and definitely coming back.

The first thing that comes to my mind after eating here is AUTHENTIC! The food made me feel like I was back home in Guadalajara...and why shouldn't it, when the owner is from there. One dish reminds me of my mom and another reminds me of my grandma. Every dish made with love. I can't wait to come back and try some other dishes.

I ordered the lengua is burrito. Some places, there's so much fat in the lengua and can barely get the actual meat, but this spot, I didn't come across any chunks of fat. The lengua was soooo tasty. They offered 4 salsas and my faves were the avocado-based sauce and the red spiciest one. So bomb! Highly recommended. Bathroom was clean too. That means something. The waitress was very attentive.

This was a fantastic restaurant with authentic flavors, great options, and the feel of family when you enter. Lots of people came and went getting to-go items or sat for a meal. Very enjoyable and great service!

Delicious food. Everything came out hot and ingredients tasted fresh. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff was very friendly. We will go back when craving authentic Mexican food.

Delicious and great service! We came over in search of nachos, but once I saw tortas ahogadas, I had to order it. Did not disappoint! Had a bite of their nachos, they were great as well

Quick service and clean establishment. The food was amazing and they brought out the food quickly along with four different hot sauces - each one tasted great! Definitely recommend this establishment.

Food was good, excellent flavor. Prices are reasonable. It's a small hole in the wall but I will come back for more.

OMFG!!!! I ordered…read moreBirrieria Tijuana on Uber Eats.... I don't know how to describe these tacos. Really, I'm just lost for words. All I can say is that the are: Meaty Cheesy Just Right Greasy Crunchy All in one GOODNESS!!! I do have to say they would be the PERFECT tacos for Stoners. Costumers Take Note: The "Cheese Tacos" on their Uber menu is Cheese and Birrieria. The "Birrieria Tacos" is just Birrieria. Note To Owners: Please update the Uber Eats Menu to include the rest of your menu. Like Rice and Beans. I will be order from here again soon!!! Nom!

1/2 I really wanted…read moreto like this place, but unfortunately my experience was pretty disappointing. I ordered the pozole, which was listed on the menu at around $18. When I was rung up, the price was significantly higher than what I expected. With a 15% tip, my total for the one bowl came out to around $30. The price difference between the menu and what I was actually charged was definitely something that stood out to me. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't make up for the price. The pozole was extremely bland and needed salt and seasoning. The broth had very little flavor, and there wasn't much hominy in the bowl either. It was mostly broth with a few pieces of meat. I ended up having to season it myself just to make it enjoyable. The service was also pretty underwhelming. Our server wasn't very attentive, and overall it just didn't feel like the level of service I'd expect. The atmosphere was pretty typical for a Mexican restaurant, but nothing particularly stood out. Overall, I'd give my experience about 2 1/2 stars. The biggest issues for me were the unexpected price difference, bland food, small amount of ingredients, and lack of attentive service. Maybe other menu items are better, but based on my experience with the pozole, I will not be returning.

You can leave your tab open, which we almost did just try more food! We got three vegan dishes: the vegan nachos, the vegan Cubano, and the Chef Daddy Mac (vegan). Everything was so good! The nachos were a huge serving. There were two of us, and even though we had two more dishes coming, we still ate almost all of them. My friend got the vegan Cubano. She's not a vegan, and she said she really enjoyed it. She would definitely get it again. I got the Chef Daddy Mac. I ended up only taking a bite because we had eaten so much already I brought it home and it served me two more dinners! And it was delicious. I went to the bar and flagged down one of the bartenders to let them know how much I appreciated that they had a vegan menu at their restaurant. I was so pleased with the food and the thoughtfulness that went into the dishes. It wasn't just food without meat, and it wasn't just regular dishes with a meat alternative. These were crafted vegan dishes that can stand up in any restaurant against any animal-based dish. The atmosphere wasn't my vibe. As a Christian, it felt a little odd to be in that environment. The food was so good, though, I can't wait to come back and try more vegan options on the menu.

I ordered a Bruja Blast cocktail which was amazing-- it's like lavender and a mix of berries like raspberry and blackberry flavors!! For food I ordered the fried pineapple appetizer which is fried pineapple coated in shredded coconut and its supposed to be drizzled with a hot honey sauce but the sauce they drizzled i'm pretty sure was balsamic glaze based on the look and taste but that worked for me, I love balsamic and it was very good! For my main course I did the killer tomato burger and asked for a side of wedge fries with sides of lime crema and lemon aioli . They unfortunately gave me potato salad rather than the wedges I asked for and normally I'm not a fan of potato salad so I was about to flag the server down but she was very busy running around to other tables so I decided to just give it a try and it was actually decent potato salad so I didn't say anything about the wedges.. I definitely couldn't finish it though as it was a giant pile of potato salad. The burger was good but definitely could have been improved... it had a crap ton of garlic aioli on it and it was called the killer tomato for having marinated herb tomatoes on it but you barely get any of those on there and they easily slid off the burger when you take a bite. Overall i'm glad that I can say I tried it and it was mostly good but I wouldn't come to Tacoma just for this place and it definitely doesn't beat my favorite bar/hangout in Puyallup- The Coaster. I'd take a grilled cheese and a few Coaster cocktails over the food at Church's Cantina any day. If I do return at some point though, it would be for the Bruja Blast and to play some Elvira and Munsters pinball here !
