Never have I had a more atrocious experience with a restaurant, which is saying a lot. Because this restaurant does not allow modified instructions in the Doordash app, I called to make a simple request of only pastor, beans, and rice in my burritos. I asked twice for confirmation, and the cashier said it would be made just how I told her. So I went ahead and ordered the burritos, and when they arrived - surprise - it had everything I had asked to leave out, and without the rice to boot. So the cashier had taken my order, told me twice it would be relayed properly, then hung up and didn't bother to relay it at all. By that time, the store was already closed, and the next day I didn't have time to drive to the restaurant. So I drove to the restaurant early the following day with the incorrect order, which was where the absurdity started. The owner came out, I explained the situation and politely asked if I could receive a replacement burrito, considering it was the restaurant's error and I had driven all the way there. The owner immediately laid into me aggressively telling me to go contact Doordash for a refund, and that she wouldn't get any money if she replaced my burrito, ranting "you know how many of you people come here asking the same thing". After 5 minutes of explaining to her that I wouldn't be there in the first place if the restaurant had simply gotten the order correct, she begrudgingly said she would make a one-time exception... then literally 5 seconds later went back on what she had just said, saying she changed her mind and to go contact Doordash. WTF? I have never seen someone flip-flop on their word that quickly in my life, much less the owner of an establishment. It was genuinely appalling how utterly hell-bent she was to save on the cost of 2 burritos. Throughout the entire 10 minutes I was talking to her, she absolutely refused to acknowledge that the restaurant had any part in the incorrect order. It was mind-blowing how greedy and single-mindedly obtuse this owner was. In the end I ended up just walking out and throwing the burritos away. Oh and in case you were wondering, the burrito tasted like sh*t. There was not a single person there when I came in - I wonder why. Save your money and order from Taqueria Los Comales down the street instead, their food is amazing. And they get their orders right. And best of all, the owner isn't a greedy, combative money-grubber who berates you for the restaurant's own error. read more

Trashy customers yelling in the restaurant with their misbehaved kids throwing toy cars in the restaraunt under people's tables - available staff said and did nothing and highly understaffed and the waitress we did have was rude. Took 10 minutes to even be acknowledged after walking in the door, stale chips and slow service, overpriced menu compared to similar Mexican places but the positives are: great sauces/toppings - big variety you get complimentary, good food, but not great. Plus you get orange slices with each entree. There's better out there, but also definitely worse. Service needs major work. read more

Brought my friend here because I was telling her how good the food was & our experience was horrible our waitress caterina was very unprofessional and rude, got my order wrong brought our food and didn't come back to check on us to make sure everything was right didn't get any refills on our drinks. My wife and I love the food at this small restaurant. When dating, my wife got hooked by the fish soup. They have a wonderful fish/shrimp sald that's large enough for the two of us to share, and it is always cooked perfectly. The various versions of shrimp, along with the cold seafood, and large fish, is absolutely wonderful. We can see why it is always busy. We do not eat in restaurants at this point in the pandemic, but the food here is the star. read more

When I ordered the special for two they wondered if I understood how much food was about to be served. I was told this place was the best Mexican food in Kenosha. The service was great, the food hot and served quickly. They exceeded my expectations for such a small place. Don't let the square footage stop you. Nice weather opens up the outside patio and they have lots of people coming in for takeout. I understand you can get the best ice cream in the shop 4 doors down in the same plaza. I had no room left but happily took the left overs for lunch tomorrow. Great experience for someone with limited understanding of what was on the menu. read more

My bf and I decided to try something new tonight and were very pleasantly surprised. The inside I simplistic and charming. The salsa trio are amazing; the green (tomatillo/avocado) was by far my favorite-great flavor and the perfect amount of heat. I ordered a trio dinner special: taco, enchilada, and tamale. There was so much food! Our meal started with an amazing soup. The dinner came with a salad, rice, and beans. Everything was full of flavor. Their horchata was perfect too. I want to start off by stating that I by no means am high maintenance when it comes to dining or anything for that matter. I absolutely love food and I've eaten the finest of foods as well as foods at rinky dink hole in the wall establishments. I'm laid back and simple and it doesn't take much to please my belly. I was in the mood for Mexican flair and had seen on Facebook that someone I knew had just visited Los Compadres and her food posts looked great therefore I decided to give them a try. Upon walking in, the smell of grease was very overwhelming. I will say, even when having dined in a restaurant where the kitchen area is meant to be displayed to its customers, I've never experienced such a strong smell of grease in a restaurant before. My clothing and hair smelled of grease for the rest of the day. The owners/management should work on the interior structure whether it be a wall or door which would allow for a divide between the restaurant and the kitchen. We were served complimentary chips and salsa which were great. The arrangement of 3 salsas consisted of a red, a green and a fresh pico. Also provided were fresh lime wedges. While we looked over the menu we started out with a Margarita, a simple house Margarita. Our drinks came in a decent amount of time with the rim coated in Tajin. The Margarita was made with an awful premix, not a fresh from scratch made Margarita, but a premix. I ordered the Chile Rellenos dinner with a steak taco on the side. My fiancé ordered steak tacos along with one cheese enchilada and one beef enchilada both in red sauce, all a la carte. Our food came in a reasonable amount of time. The tacos were great. They had a decent amount of flavored steak on them and the onion and cilantro was fresh and tasty. The other items were another story. My fiancés enchiladas were dry and barely had any sauce on them. Each of our dishes came with the typical charred whole jalapeno as well as charred long green onion. These items were drenched and coated in some sort of orange/yellow salt mixture. It was not Tajin (which is what came on our Maragarita rim). I have no clue what it was and I've never seen this before but it made eating these items impossible. You could take a fork and scrape off this substance and it was just caked on the fork. My Chile Relleno looked tasty. I cut into it and the cheese stretched and looked so good. I took one bite and was close to spitting it out. The egg batter mixture that these poblanos were dredged in prior to frying was just as salty as the jalapenos and green onion. It honestly tasted like someone accidentally spilled an entire container of salt into the batter. The red sauce was not your traditional sauce. It had a very strong chipotle taste. For those that do not like chipotles, they would not have enjoyed this dish. I myself love chipotles although the flavor was overwhelming and not traditional for a Chile Relleno sauce. The amount of salt in these food items made them impossible to eat. This was not someone accidentally over salting by just a tad. This was an enormous amount of salt, an unbelievable amount, so much so that it could be scraped off of the vegetable items but obviously not out of the batter for the poblanos. I love trying new places as well as supporting small business owners but, I will not be back. First impressions are everything and I am willing to give places a second try although there were too many things going on here that won't have me returning. read more

There is a traditional salsa, pico de gallo, and some verde salsa that is unlike anything I've ever had before. It's mean, it's green, and it's excellent. Los Compadres, is without a doubt, the single best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to - this includes all my visits to Mexico. I saw a few negative reviews for this place on Yelp and have a hard time believing it was the same place, I have to say that I went on a Saturday afternoon, dine in was slow -but there were a lot of carry-out orders. I took my mother here for lunch this afternoon, being Mexican and super picky -she loved it too. Our drink order was taken with 2 minutes of being seated. They started the meal with complimentary -yes FREE chips (fantastic) with 3 salsas. #1 - spicy jalapeño #2 -creamy somewhat mild tomatillo, #3 -pico de gallo. They also include a small dipping bowl of fresh lime slices. Also free, you are given a small cup of Mexican chicken vegetable soup. It was piping hot with plenty of chicken potatoes and veggies. I recommend adding some of the salsa to give it a nice kick. This soup was worth the trip alone. I ordered the Chicken enchiladas with salsa verde and asked them to spice it up for me. You get three three served with an abundance of chicken and salsa verde. On the dish were fresh mashed beans, Mexican rice and lettuce, tomato, cucumber and small green onions. All for $12.99 OMG - I was in heaven! My mother had tacos barbacoa and tripas -she said the barbacoa ones were great, but the one with tripas was even better. This dish also came with all the sides the same as mine. All this for only $12.99. The place is not really big, maybe 16 tables inside, a small bar area and outside seating as well. You know it is an authentic place when the primary customers are all Hispanic. I am a super picky guy who doesn't like much, and this place I loved. A few doors down is an authentic Mexican panaderia, with a great choice of pan dulce, popsicles and Mexican candy. I live in Illinois, but the 40-minute drive for this authentic food is well worth the drive. Check it out -you will not be disappointed! read more

My experience here was fantastic. I gorged myself so hard and so fast I was at risk of becoming a permanent resident. I wasn't even that hungry going in but it was meal time and I might as well stuff some food in. Well, the food was so good I couldn't stop eating. The ingredients were very fresh all around and the presentation of the food was above and beyond my expectation. The staff was nice and the service was quick, too. So why do they not get a 5? Because anything you ask for, they don't do. Ask for extra pepper- nope. Ask for no lettuce- nope. Ask for extra green instead of red salsa-nope. I even asked in Spanish once in case they didn't understand. Still-no. It's going to come as they want, not as you want. The worst part...they are taking advantage of customers now. I was introduced to them through DoorDash. Of course DoorDash marks up all items that you order through them, on top of all their fees. So we were paying $12 for a 3 taco combo. Quite pricey but with the safer at home....it was an upcharge we paid. So, I decide to order it now and pick it up myself (since DoorDash can never find my house-it's the 2nd one in and has the address on the garage but ok). My husband ran in and asked for a menu. They said that they don't have one. WHAT?? Do you know why they don't have one? So we can't see that they are over-charging us. They charged the $12 that DoorDash does. WOW. Look at their menu on yelp. Their taco combo is $7.99. Go to any typical Mexican restaurant. You will NOT pay $12 for 3 tacos. That's insane! The owner of this restaurant is a thief. I hired him for a min. 75ppl taco party and had him sign a contract to leave the unused meat because of covid situation/attendance issues. He agreed and signed and I paid him $950 cash, only had half attendance and they toik all the unheated meat with them and he refused to compensate me for the theft. I went here in a search for Kenoshas best steak burrito a fiew years ago and I never went back. The steak was dry and cooked to a crisp. Eating a crunchy burrito was weird so I threw it away. How could they serve this to a customer. It might have been a bad day but the cook had to know the steak was crap.
