Wow!! Great food. Great flavors. Tried multiple dishes; all were amazing! Friendly, quick service!…read more A must have!!

We got several tacos to share. We got the jackfruit taco, the fish taco (tilapia, corn, pico,…read moreCajun sauce), the island chicken taco, and the jerk chicken taco (mango salsa and purple cabbage slaw). The jackfruit taco was tasty and had a great texture to it--an acceptable meat substitute that isn't trying to be something it's not. The fish taco was well seasoned and the Cajun mayo added a kick. The jerk chicken taco was pleasantly spicy with a ton of flavor. The island chicken taco wasn't my thing--it was too sweet for me. We also got the guacamole and chips. The chips are not homemade, but still salty and simple. The guacamole could use a little seasoning, but it's chunky and refreshing. Menu also offers tacos with shrimp and a black power taco, which is a vegan taco made with black beans. Overall this food truck has a lot of potential. I do think things could be improved, however. Whenever we order, we always wait at least 25-30 minutes. That in itself isn't the issue--it's more due to the fact several people will come up after we've ordered, get their orders, and leave, while we are still waiting. This could be because whatever we ordered is still being prepped, but seems more due to lack of organization. Same goes for their schedule--if we had a little more notice and the schedule was posted with regularity, we would eat there more often. Regardless, I support this business and would continue to try their tasty tacos.

Hopkinsville isn't known as a foodie heaven; mostly fast food, a few Americanized Mexican spots,…read moreand one decent taco spot (Tacos El Papi). Macario's is a newer restaurant, in a location that has housed multiple Mexican spots. Macario's has some Mexican dishes, but also has some Guatemalan dishes. We had their hilachas, which is shredded flank steak in a tomatillo and achiote sauce with diced potatoes, served with rice and tortillas. This is a savory dish, very rich, and was pretty good. I think the steak cut may be a little cheap (businesses have to run on a budget around here). But I'm also a snob who spends most of my time in NYC. They also have pepian (chicken and vegetable stew), caldo de res (beef and veggie soup) and chiles rellenos (sweet peppers stuffed with beef and vegetables). They have plantains as well. We had the tacos, Al pastor and fish. These are street style tacos, smaller, but you can purchase them in threes as a meal for a reasonable price of around 14 dollars. The tacos have a lot of meat inside and fresh veggies. The Al Pastor could have used some seasoning and the fish was a little salty. They also have more common Mexican staples, such as fajitas, quesadillas, chimichangas, and enchiladas. Furthermore, they have a breakfast menu with steak, eggs, pancakes/waffles etc. Macario's is a great addition to the area for those of us looking for something different!

We love it every time we go there! The food is always perfect and the staff is very friendly!read more
