Setting: looks good, a bit of an eclectic vibe Service: this was by far the best part of my visit here. Service was really good. Food: below average. Chips are great but the salsa is too garlic forward and doesn't have nearly enough cilantro. Spice level is on par with a Midwest TexMex restaurant, so not really spicey at all. The queso dip was honestly the best part of the meal. It was average but I ended up using it as a pallet cleanser to remove the weird tastes of the food platter. Got the lunch hour chimi special. It came with Mexican rice, refried beans, lettuce and sour cream. I dug into the refried beans first and I was a little surprised that it tasted sweet. The only way to get refried beans to taste like that is to add sugar. Who does that? The rice was dried out and lifeless. The lettuce and sour cream was off the shelf stuff so, pretty average. The chimi was the worst part for me. The beef tasted weird, the tortilla tasted weird...it was just weird. It got worse when you paired any of the individual items together. No individual taste worked with the platter as a whole. I can't recommend this place unless you just want good chips and queso. read more

Service was good even though we showed up about 45 minutes from closing. The vacuuming while we were eating was pretty annoying though. The food- so so so greasy that it made both my husband and I feel sick after we ate here. Best part of the meal was the chips and salsa. Margaritas were pretty meh. read more

I never knew this restaurant was even there. Located very close to 33 you would think they would have a sign off the main road to attract travelers. We actually passed the street it is on due to lack of signage and visibility. We met family there (my son knew where it was) for dinner and a nice visit. We were seated quickly and our drink order was taken promptly. The menu was pretty much what you would expect from a Mexican American restaurant. All the standards with few variants. I did find a steak item that was smothered in a very tasty but HOT sauce that had me eating it up and chugging lemonade at the same time. Delicious! We got there right at peak dinner hours. Our service was very good but died off considerably as the rush hit. It seemed our room was a bit short staffed for the amount of tables. Our grandson's item was wrong and we waited a long time to get her attention to have it corrected. His dinner arrived as we all had finished so he took his food to go. He also tried 3 times to get someone's attention to get a refill. Poor kid had a rough time. The only concern for me was cleanliness. The menus were dirty and mine had food on it. Busy or not, the hostess should be wiping those menus down between uses. After touching them I started worrying about what else wasn't cleaned well, right or wrong. Not a good first impression. All in all the experience was pretty positive. Everyone cleaned their plates. We were not suggested dessert which was probably a good thing as I was stuffed but they had some interesting choices on the menu rather than just the standard fried ice cream and flan. We will return here now that we know it is there. We are new to the area. The locals clearly know it is there especially the happy hour crowd as the bar was pretty full when we arrived. read more

The place was dead on a Saturday midday, so we were kinda nervous on what to expect. The outside of the building looks awesome and the food was great! The server was super friendly, BUT added charges to the bill that that he couldn't explain (the bill comes out old school with just the pricing, no description). We have liked this restaurant for many years now but we were very disappointed by our last visit Saturday night, July 22nd. 2023. Four of us were seated in a booth in the larger dining room area at 6:30 PM and then forgotten. After 30 minutes, one of our party went looking for some help and was told someone would be over. We visited with our family on a Saturday night. We made a reservation ahead of time since we had a party of 9. We were sat immediately and a gentleman took our drink order. We all ordered waters and one pitcher of margaritas for the entire table. The waitress brought out 2 pitchers and ran away. We had to flag down a manager to get the second pitcher taken away and off of our check. Side note--- their original margarita tasted like FLOOR CLEANER (Pine Sol). The ratio of mix to tequila was definitely off!! Then, we all placed our orders and that seemed to go smoothly. The food comes out... the manager is screaming numbers at us (expecting us to remember the number of the item rather than what the item is)!!!! What?! She literally got irritated with us for asking what the items on the plates were. WOW!!!! The food was bland and completely flavorless. Honestly, this was the furthest from authentic Mexican cuisine that I think I have ever consumed! My sister even made a joke-- "don't worry, we're getting Taco Bell afterward!" I was not satisfied with the food, in fact it was awful. I ate there last year and I had no complaints. However, this December, I couldn't stomach the food. I live in Texas and love Mexican food, but this was bad. The enchiladas, tamales and chili relleno all looked the same. I had to ask the waitress which was which; she didn't know. I was out of town on a business trip and found this place on the way home by accident. We were actually going to turn around and go to another place and found it. I was greeted at the door with a statement I have been waiting for my whole life, "would you like a menu or will you be eating from the buffet". This is the first Mexican Buffett that I have seen and it was very good. It had many options from build your own taco salads, soft tacos, regular tacos, and more. They also had trays of burritos that were chicken and beef. The servers were also super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend. read more

My family and I went in on a Friday around 7pm. It was super busy so we anticipated a bit of a wait. However, after 3 groups of people came in and were seated before us (same size group) we became aggravated. Once we finally got seated we waited 20 minutes before we had to flag someone down to order our drinks. The waitress took our drinks and food order and after another 20 minutes and no drinks or food we had watched 3 other tables that came in after us get waited on immediately and get their orders. Since we had been there for over an hour with no drinks or food and had a 3 month old baby with us we got up and left. They put there buffet out at 10am and leave the same food out until 3pm...if that's not bad enough, when it doesn't get eaten off the buffet, the use it again later for orders or put it back on the buffet the next day!!! read more

I loved this place. The food service and price were all great. I ordered the guardaupe platter. It shoud be named the kitchen sink platter (in spanish of course). I had it for lunch, dinner and lunch the next day. I definitely will stop back by the next time I am in that area. read more

This place has the BEST chicken soft tacos and fish tacos!!! They are so delicious and everything is always served quickly and hot. The chips and salsa are also out of this world! Not as nice looking inside as the other Mexican restaurant in Bellefontaine, but I prefer the food at Los Cabos by a big margin. read more

Food is basic, service not too great. Atmosphere is okay. I ordered the fish tacos and they were pretty watery. Charged me 3.00 more than the menu price. I had to go up to the staff booth and grab a menu to show them how much it was supposed to be. Not a fan and I think they purposely try to rip people off. Eaten here a couple of times. It's better than La Palma, but still kind of average. Good chips/salsa, good soda, quiet/comfortable atmosphere. Expect to pay $8-$12 for a dinner entre. Have not tried the buffet. Server can be hit or miss. Had the same guy twice. Once he was so friendly and on top of everything, the other time he didn't care to help us.
