Today the service was a bit slow. Not sure why as the restaurant was almost empty. It took quite a while to receive my Shrimp Cocktail. The appearance was appealing and generous, the flavor was good but it was almost lukewarm. The octopus was in large chunks and a bit tough. I was really in the mood for a cool refreshing meal. So a bit of disappointment from my expectation. I do like most of the food I have tried here, but I won't order this dish here again. Unfortunately the server did not inform me that the price of the cocktail had gone up and was several dollars more than the price on the menu.
Have been coming here for years as it's one my Salvadorian brother in law's favorite restaurant. The restaurant is spacious and the pupusas are delicious! I always order the ayote and queso pupusas and they are phenomenal. Topped with the pickled veggies and salsa! Amazing flavor! Also, tried the yuca fried potatoes and they were absolutely phenomenal! Service was great! Food was brought out promptly! Can't wait to come back!
Muy rica la comida y la atención al cliente las mejores pupusas y la tilapia con camarones
Whenever I'm craving a good pupusa I come here!! We always get the mixed ones, and they're so gooey and toasted on the outside. If you're looking for some delicious home made tasting food this is the place! The fried banana with creama is a MUST. Bananas cooked perfectly and not too mushy. If you want to try something slightly different try their horchata it's soo good but remember it is different. Also! Their tortillas are THICK but so good, it's a Salvadoran style tortillas. The customer service is impeccable, our waitress Marlene was amazing, greeted us with a smile, took our order and then made sure everything was okay!
This place was pretty busy . Would recommend if you can't eat in ... to order ahead . Or else it will be a good twenty minute wait. The pupasas were good; but a little more expensive than the usual place I go. The carne asada pupasas were tasty and Cheesy. Who doesn't like cheese? Top em with salsa and slaw and yum your stomach is full and happy.
The food here is soooo good! I recommend the pupusas revueltas! Order a couple to go too! The service is much better than the past reviews may say, and everyone here is so nice. It's right off the freeway so if you're in Bakersfield, make sure to check out this gem! Relax and have a beer too!
I was recommended to try out Los Canos from a a coworker. I came to the Ming location. There was plenty of room inside. There was only one person working the front so there was a wait to order and for food to arrive. The pupusas did have a good amount of filling however the curtido wasn't as tangy as I'm use to. The empanadas de platano con frijole is were a bit dry. I'd give it another chance because there was a steady stream of customers while I was there.
Still the best pupussies in town, fast and great customer service, they got my order wrong accidentally and they fixed it right away in a nice way, 10/10
I usually come in for eltoe drink but I was very disappointed today. I was driving and wanting a warm drink. I hate I wasted my time and my $$.
Its one of those hole in the wall places that just have your jaw drop whole drooling. We got the pupusas lunch special, I normally get the queso ones, but they had so many more options then other places. The con todos are beyond delicious, my eyes were bigger than my stomach, I was only able to eat one. They also had specialty ones with asada and chicken shrimp. But those aren't part of the special. They do charge extra for more cabbage and salsa, but I get it. Definitely coming again to try the other pupusas and all their other menu items. Oh also the Pupusas con todo came out beyond hot and had me gobbling it down still lava hot. Sooooo mouth wateringly good. The server was beyond sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. The area it is in, is a shopping center with tons of things to do. They also have a full bar and happy hour, with a juke box and tvs to watch sports. It was day time when we went, so I cant tell you how the parking lot is at night.
First time trying this spot just a bite after work with some good company. Walking in you're greeted with seat yourself sign lol. Plenty to choose from. Customer service is great but the waters were a letdown. I forgot what mine was called, but it did not look like the picture I had seen posted in yelp. The restroom was very clean and spacious. The music gave the establishment a great vibe. I ate a fish eye for the first time!!! Not a bad taste it's like nerve if you've ever had menudo. The fish was huge and juicy just full of flavor. The rice and especially the beans were very savory. Im not a big fan of popusas, it's just not my thing but these weren't bad and the cabbage topping was very well executed along with the sauce it comes with. So for the first time I have no complaints regarding the popusas toppings. The sauce they use for my land and sea plate was so delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly along with the shrimp. I would try this place again maybe ask for more chicharrón in my pupusa and less cheese, even though I did order my pupusa with easy cheese. The chips and salsa also tasted good. I only gave this place a 4 because of the aguas other than that food is great. read more

The pupusas are delicious here but $3.75 for each one is a bit pricey & they don't have any specials for them. They have lunch specials I'm sure there good plates but let's be honest, I'm here for the pupusas $75 dollars later. I went home to eat and I must say again they were delicious Do I recommend them: sure Will I come back: maybe, unless they promote those pupusas for a special deal. Service all servers were very friendly Ambiance was decorated as Latin style restaurants 6/10 read more

Do not eat here , you will get sick . Cooking staff has poor sanitation standards. We purchased food to go , pupusas and atol de elote. The atol was almost cold but what we found at the bottom of the cup was the worst. A mix of different vegetables tomato , carrot , and a big black hair . I immediately called and informed them of this. I drove back and showed it to the staff which left them speechless. You cannot charge what you charge only to serve dirty food . I wouldn't normally complain or even drive back but in this case I had to . The picture is of the staff giving me a refund . read more

Hole in the wall restaurant with great tasting food Central American food "Salvadorian" these pupusas are delicious...Pupusas are thick corn tortillas that can be stuffed with various fillings, including various meats, refried beans, cheese, and even squash flowers. The filled corn tortillas are then cooked to perfection on a traditional grill referred to as a comal. read more

We ordered 5 pupusas to go, and they were all beyond my expectations! The cheese is so nicely gooey on the inside and crisp on the outside. We tried cheese, zucchini, chicken, shrimp and carne asada. I would definitely go back and order more! Although we did take out, we did have to wait a little bit for our order to be ready so I recommend calling ahead! read more

I've heard the one on E. California is better but i have not been there and the food I had here was delicious. yummy Pupusa and mariscada(mixed seafood soup) it's kind of like a thin chowder but spiced up with latin flavors and lots of cilantro. It had tons of seafood muscles, shrimp, crab, scallops, squid and more i think. I normally don't like shell-on seafood in soups and pastas but this was well worth the messiness and extra work. it's a little pricy but it's a lot of seafood and its a huge bowl, you probably wont finish all the broth even though you'll want to. The waitress was nice and attentive but did not speak much English. I was originally just asking what was in the soup but she just said "you order'? I said "well what is it?" her- "you order? its very good" me- "sure". anyway, it worked out. read more

Stopped in for lunch with my little niño- I was craving some pupusas. I ordered the zucchini and cheese and also a bean and cheese. Together with the cabbage slaw and salsa, my craving was notably satisfied. (I enjoyed the zucchini one just a touch more) We played a few tunes on the jukebox while we enjoyed our lunch & all was well. This location is larger and doesn't have the intimate feel of the California & Baker location, but the service was friendly and my lunch was just what I wanted. read more

You ever crave pupusas? Do you know what a Pupusa is? Well in case you do not know, it is a traditional Salvadorean dish of a thick corn tortilla stuffed with a savory filling. My Mom wanted some so we brought her and Dad to Los Cabos The Pupusa House. The restaurant is not fancy, but it is colorful and spacious. There is a bar in the back, but we just seated ourselves at one of the many tables. The waitress brought the menus to us. She was helpful, but could have been more attentive. The food was good overall. We started out trying the Platano Frito Con Crema y Frijoles. It is Fried Bananas with Salvadorean cream. Tasted fine, but would try something else next time. Forgot the name of Dad's order. It was a whole fish, and he was satisfied. Even had leftovers to enjoy the next day. The Pupusas we chose were all good! The Camaron (Shrimp) Pupusa was her favorite. I really liked the Ayote (Cheese & Zucchini) filled Pupusa and the Revueltas Mixed (Cheese & Pork) Pupusas. So darn good!! This is our go to place for yummy Pupusas. Maybe, you will like them too. read more

My friend recommended me to stop by this spot to try the pupusas, and I loved them! I had the pupusas revueltas (chicharrón, cheese), and I had the bean and cheese one. They were delicious and a good price for the size. I also had a Salvadorian tamale and it was my favorite thing that I tried that night, will be going again soon! read more

Most of the reviews I read were about bad service. When I went in today, the server did not speak clear English but she was very nice. I order two papusas: con todo (beans, cheese, and pork grinds) and the zucchini and cheese one. Both were really good and very filling! You cannot beat being full with good food on $5. I recommend this place. I just ask people to be aware that there are language barriers so have compassion and patience. read more
I've eaten at the Los Cabos The Pupusa House on California, but this was my first visit to the Los Cabos The Pupusa House on Ming. This restaurant is much larger than the other one, with the addition of a bar, and it even has a large open area that could serve as a dance floor should one be so inclined. The restaurant was just about deserted at 6:00 pm on a Tuesday evening when Kate B and I visited it; there was only one woman seated at the bar and all the tables were empty. The walls are painted in bright orange and green, which might overstimulate anyone suffering from add, but I decided to regard the bright colors as "cheerful" We seated ourselves and a waitress brought us menus. There was a flatscreen television suspended behind the bar broadcasting Telemundo's Pasion Prohibida. What a way to get a little atmosphere going! I can't tell you how much fun we white girls had making up dialogue for the characters as the show went on. So, yeah, it took us a while to finally decide what we wanted, but the waitress was very patient with us each time she returned to check on us. I finally decided on the pollo en crema with rice and beans and Kate ordered a tostada (I can't remember the name) which had a shrimp ceviche topping. We also ordered two pupusas to share, one revueltas and one queso con loroco. For an appetizer we ordered the empanada de platano stuffed with milk cream and cinnamon which arrived after all our entrees, but was so sweet it doubled as a dessert. I ordered a champagne cola to drink; it's a non-alcoholic soda that tastes like a cross between a cream soda and an orange soda. I loved my pollo en crema which came with one large breast and one leg covered in a creamy white sauce and was accompanied by a lightly seasoned rice and a sooth dark concoction of beans and a small salad. The chicken was very tender and the sauce lovely. I'd definitely order this again. I enjoyed my half of each pupusa, though the queso con loroco one was a little bland compared the the revueltas. The empanada arrived looking for all the word like a cream stuffed dark brown crispy old fashioned donut. We ordered one to split, but I could make a great snack out of one of these on my own. I had a bite of Kate's shrimp and it was pretty good, too. We both left pretty well stuffed and with enough food packed into the to-go boxes to make another good sized lunch. There was also a juke box which played a curious mix of Spanish language and English songs. I love Salvadorean food, and this place was just plain entertaining. read more
They have two locations. (i think, well at least that i have been to) This one is the "non ghetto" according to my sister. It is nicer and way bigger than the other one. We came in for lunch/dinner for and noticed they had a lunch special from 11-3pm but we had just missed it. Not sure what is it because I forgot to ask because all I care for in this restaurant is the popusas! Anyways they also have happy hour from 3-7pm on some basic beers. (Bud light & Budweiser?) We sat down and one lady came to greet us and bring chips and salsa which I was really surprised because ***Not being stereotypical in a bad way, had never seen a Salvadorian based restraunt serve chips and salsa.*** BTW the chips were still warm and super tasty. The salsa was acceptable! Second waiter came and took our order, we got each a "revuelta popusa" = mixed which has cheese and pork. Highly recommend. We also got a plate of "chicharron con yuka" = pork and I think yuka is a type of vegy fried. For dessert I got an "empanada de platano con leche" little ball of banana fried with this type of special cream inside of it. You can have this as an entree where they serve it with beans but I would recommend getting it as a dessert. The service was awesome and pretty fast! I was very happy and cant wait to go back! read more

This was a solid dining experience, and the flavors were huge. Pupusas get done wrong so often you forget how good they are when they're done right. It's a finesse thing, and I had 3 types here; they were all delicate in texture, and delicious. Too often, pupusas are over stuffed or greasy. These were light and flavorful, but dense. I should have only ordered two. Additionally, we showed up a little late and their service was still exceptional. They were fast and got everything right, with great suggestions. read more
