Everyone commented on the food and said how it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. Huber's is forever one of our most special places. A year after our wedding, my husband and I came back for pumpkins and it was here that I told him I was pregnant! Now we can't wait to take our kids here and create more memories.

We did a tour here today and it was really intimate - we were the only four on the tour. They…read morecalled my friend, who had booked the tour, about two hours ahead of time to say the Rickhouse would be closed because of the cold weather, and to ask if we wanted to continue the tour as scheduled or rebook - good customer service. We arrived a little bit early and had lunch at the cafe on-site, which was pretty good, and then we checked in for our tour. What people may not know is that below the gift shop area is where a lot of the barrels and such are. I think our tour guide's name was Ricky and she was very good, I learned a little bit about the distillery. We had chosen the bottle your own experience, which ended up being really unique. At the end of the tour, we got to taste a few of the bourbons, literally from the barrels, and then we got to fill a bottle from one of the open barrels. After that, we put a sticker/the label one, plus one with our name, and another with the back label. Differentiation was encouraged, although we all put them on standardly except for my husband, who had the four of us plus Ricky sign the bottle, which was fun. I believe the tour was $100 each, and just the bottle itself would've been like $80, so for $20 extra, it was a good deal. At the end of the tour, they let us taste a good portion of their wines and other whiskeys and bourbons; I will say their wines were not that great, unfortunately, though there were two that I liked and purchased. They were very generous with the tastings and I don't think there was a maximum number ... I tasted maybe 1/3 of what was on the sheet, aka open for tastings. Overall I would come back here, although I probably wouldn't need to do the tour a second time (it would be fun to see the rickhouses, though).

Gorilla forest is a world renown and popular attraction located inside the Louisville zoo park…read more This massive exhibit is home to a ton of gorillas and is a great exhibit to explore and learn about. Very large and extensive and very well maintained exhibit. There is always a ton of gorillas here playing and having fun. It seems like they get excitement from people being excited to see them. I'm not sure if this particular gorilla (whose name I forget) is still at the zoo. But for the longest time there was a gorilla who would come up to you at the glass and tap on the window. One day a worker finally said "he wants to see the photos in your phone". So if you pulled out your phone and showed him pics he would tap the glass for when he wanted to see the next picture. Soo cool and my kids absolutely adored it. Overall an amazing and fun game exhibit. I'd say the largest exhibit and beat up to date one at the zoo. These magnificent beings truly have a massive playground to explore and play. Always a favorite for us and others when visiting the Louisville zoo.

Everybody loves the gorillas. This area takes you through a simulated gorilla habitat located in…read morethe Africa section. It is just over 15 years old, opening in 2005, but is well maintained. Betty White was the guest speaker at the opening. It is huge, covering 4 acres. It consists of a discovery trail and 3 gorilla habitats. It was a cold day when I visited so I and most all of the other visitors viewed the gorillas from the indoor habitat. That is where all the gorillas were anyway. I guess it was too cold for them to be outside. Sadly, the gorilla, like so many other animals, is an endangered species that is being brought about due to the loss of their habitat. Zoo exhibits such as this one is vital to the conservation of the species and education about them. The other two habitats are an open air viewing station from a bridge and a station that you can view the animals through a glass. The gorillas were pretty active in the indoor area and had lots to do and toys to play with. One was positioned for the perfect selfie. It is said to have 10 gorillas over here, but I did not see that many. There is also a hippo over here, yes a hippo. in the Hippo Falls subsection of the area. There is a long walkway that connects the habitats that has educational signs about gorillas along the way. There is also a restroom near the end of the area and the African Outpost marks the beginning. Fun Fact: The American Association of Zoos and Aquariums honored the Louisville Zoo's Gorilla Forest exhibit with an award for excellence and innovation. I really like this area. It is a close second to my favorite area of the zoo (Glacier Run is first). This is still a must visit and is a fun area to spend time in, especially if you catch some of the gorillas in an interactive mood.

The walking tour is accessible to people of most abilities, with a bit of uneven ground in some spots. Cool, comfortable temperatures. (Maybe have a light sweater.) Cool/interesting history of how the carven transitioned from a massive limestone mining facility that started in the 1930s, to its multiple uses today. The zip-lining looks like a lot of fun, but that was not for us on this day.

We thought that meant that you'd be exploring and ziplining all through the cavern, but no. It's a ropes course, and the course is pretty small, and you're not really going into the cavern, which is a bummer. They do have a separate zipline tour, which is maybe more adventurous, but I wouldn't know because we didn't do that one. The ropes course is for ages 5 and older. Louisville Mega Cavern also offers a walking cavern tour and a tram tour, plus a drive-through Christmas lights display around the holidays. Be sure to book your activities in advance! This place is very popular and gets very busy. One thing to note is that outside food and drink are supposedly not allowed. (Oops, my bad. I didn't find that out until I had finished my tasty little tuna-and-crackers snack.) They also have lockers to put your things in if you don't have someone hanging back at the tables to hold your stuff.
