The toddler play area has small slides and a smaller climbing structure as well as interactive walls and a small plush merry go round. They frequently hold birthdays here and also offer a variety of snacks for an additional fee. This is a place that we stop by often and are looking at buying one of their frequent visitor punch passes! This place is highly recommended for anyone with kids that need to burn through some energy.

Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k run, and the local chapter organizes the event in Joe Creason every Saturday at 9 a.m. On a typical Saturday, you'll see a few dozen people gather, everyone from competitive runners to walkers, and plenty of hacks like me somewhere in between. The local chapter is just one of about 100 around the country (and more globally), and it's completely run by a dedicated group of socially-minded volunteers. Sometimes they wear cute outfits. Sometimes they bring snacks to share with finishers. And they always bring a lot of energy. It's easy to sign up online and all you have to do is arrive by 9:00 and have your barcode on your phone. The Creason course can be a little confusing at first -- it's essentially a big figure 8 that you run 2 1/2 times. You find yourself at the center of that 8 no fewer than five times. And you have to run up a sizable hill twice, so you'll get your pulse working. As of this writing, I've done the Parkrun 11 times in the past couple of years (I've only volunteered once so far, but I hope to do better next year). Highly recommend it for anyone looking to either train for a bigger race or just mix up their own running routine. You'll be rubbing elbows with a lot of other nice people.

You would never know you are in the city. Just mind your step as you have to walk over some rocks and tree roots on the dirt path. They have miles of trails with little bridges, beautiful trees, and a surprising amount of wildlife. They do not allow dogs on the trails, but maybe this is why we see a family of deer, an owl, raccoon, or some kind of furry friend every time we go. The trails are perfect for a mile (or couple of miles) hike that is not at all strenuous. On the opposite side of the building, or after you are done hiking, you will come across the most adorable nature playground! It has a library box to leave and/or take a book, stumps, sand and rock boxes with interactive toys, a rope and landing built up the side of a tree, stick teepees, an insect library, etc! Like broad run turkey run does offer very cool walking trails and breathtaking views. While they don't have a splash ground or traditional playground like broad run they do have a great area to relax in front of the brown foreman silo. Which is a unique attraction itself as you can climb up there and take in all the views from high above. Like most parks and things to do in the parklands park system you can't really go wrong with whatever you choose to do. Loads of family fun to be had.

Like everything at these parks, the tower is open to the public and free, without any hassles. The water pressure at some of the fountains was a little weak, but overall the presence of free and clean facilities is an asset to anyone in the greater Lousiville area, as so much of Kentucky is either pretty but not open to the public or open but without any manmade improvements.

If you need an easy path, there's the loop around the large duck and goose pond. If you want something a little more challenging, the path leading back to the 4H Fair Grounds has a decent elevation and optional stairs. There are multiple playgrounds for kids and a few areas for sports and games. Nearby are also shelters that can be reserved for events. Parking is plentiful and in multiple spots. There is also a growing effort to install more public art, a reading path, and some free-range meadow grasses. I'm hopeful that the trees grow back after the building of the Academy apartments and that more are planted around the path to provide more shade during the hot summer months. But a great, local park!

The park boasts loads of amenities in a well-kept landscape. For bird lovers: there's a gorgeous pond which is visited by a lot of ducks, geese, and local bird friends. There's a great 1.2 mile walking track that circles the park, offering views of the pond and a walk and read (single book pages at stops along the trail) for folks with kiddos. They have two playgrounds, four sheltered areas, restrooms (although I've only seen them open twice - pro tip: go to Aldi across the street from the park if they're closed - fast, easy, and clean!), a few short nature trails, green space, a sand volleyball court, soccer fields, a basketball court, and a heck of a lot of tennis courts. I'm new to roller skating and the tennis courts here are a dream come true! Yes, this may not be their intended purpose, and yes, one tennis player one time may have gotten a bit peeved BUT there are so many courts, you don't have to feel guilty about taking away anyone's ability to play tennis. During the week, I've never found the park too crowded. In the early mornings, virtually empty minus some walkers and tennis players. In the evening, loads more folks but still has never felt too crowded, plus LOTS of dog walkers which always makes me excited to see so many sweet puppy faces strolling around. Basketball games are generally happening. On the weekends, this place does get busy. Shelters are available for rent, so there's often parties taking place, we've seen tennis tournaments, soccer games, and more but with how large the park is, we've never felt overcrowded or like we've lost our personal space and have always been able to find easy parking. I would highly recommend this park any time of day and any day of the week.

All are mostly level and there are birds and wildlife everywhere.
