Mine spent time in the personal care unit prior to transitioning to an independent cottage. The director, Dave Manton and his staff made all of the transitions seamless and easy. It is such an emotional process when parents give up their home to move into more long-term retirement care. The help we have received cannot be calculated in mere dollars, as it has been invaluable. We too compared other care facilities and none measured up to CC standards and quality of community. It is truly a gem of a place located in the lovely town of Carlisle, PA.

Many of the staff that work directly with her have been there long-term, which is excellent because staff changes can be upsetting to older adults. The activities offered are varied and fun. I enjoy the food at the Haven as I occasionally eat in the Bistro with my aunt. My experience with Montgomery county Hospice care after my husband's death is terrible. It reaches…read morethe point of harassment. My husband was in hospice care only 5 hours. After his death I received so many text messages telephone calls, letters with my name incorrect . After the first telephone call I explained that I did not need assistance, I was doing fine and already had all the resources necessary to deal with my husband's death. I requested to stop calling me or sending messages. However, the saga continued, very frustrating and my request to stop contacting me was disregarded. Probably the people calling have a spread sheet and need to put a mark on it. It is not about the person who just lost her husband but about getting points for their job.

They rushed through the care for my husband and didn't see the urgency to send someone to be here to help our family through our loved one's death. They didn't get here in time before my husband passed and then when them hospice nurse showed up he was very inconsiderate of our family's loss and rather than consoling us he spent an hour counting pills and disrespecting the family and their feelings. They didn't comfort us in anyway. So sad.
