My sister had brought her late husbands 1970 RT Coronet drop top car in for a tune up because a minor engine miss. 2800 dollars later they claimed it was fixed. They charged 1265.00 for rebuilding the heads plus labor. For another 100.00 dollars I can get Edlebrock heads. I came out from Oregon for a family reunion and my sister asked me to look at her car because it was running rough and idling high. With basic tools I found a severely corroded distributer cap and rotor, 4 cylinders not firing and a bent push rod on number 5 intake. The car only had 65 miles on it since the repair. I put a new cap an rotor on took a hammer and hammered the push rod straight. The valve on number 5 intake was setting 1/2 inch lower than the rest. I got it fired up and low and behold it ran pretty damn good after setting the retarded timing by ear and carb adjust. Total time was 2.5 hours to fix it. I can not believe someone would release a car running this bad, for 2800.00 dollars. My sisters husband Tom was well known for auto and tractor restoration in the area. I am not a back yard hack like these guys, I have been an A.S.E. Master tech, L1 Advance Diag and thirty plus years working on old muscle cars along with new cars. I would be ashamed if a car left my shop like this. They would not even return a call after my sister called about it running so bad. Local people know who I am talking about as far as the car. I hope these guys do the right thing because I do not want to come back and fix it properly and talk to lawyers. read more
