The Lord Nelson is my favourite pub in the whole Norfolk coastal area. Situated in the pretty hamlet of Burnham Thorpe where Nelson grew up (his father was the local vicar) this pub is actually one that Horatio himself used to frequent. It's novel in that there is no bar as such beer is served from a hatchway in the front room. Beers are mainly from the Woodforde's stable, Wherry etc, and very well-kept. Novelties include Nelson's Blood a spirit made on the premises which is worth a try if you're not driving.
Food is excellent and there's a fantastic large beer garden out the back with a great children's play area. They also run a BBQ when the weather is fine and various gastronomic events throughout the year. Top class and a hidden gem. read more
