It spans several hills and there are two entry point locations. One on Root Oqd and one on Carroll. Check their website which will tell you which cherries are ripe and ready to pick, and at which location. So helpful! While the orchard is really huge, picking is easy because you can drive through the rows of trees and park right near where you want to pick. This makes it super convenient and easy. The fields are flat which is another thing I appreciate. Just be careful walking around as there are sprinkler heads and other things you can trip over. Yes, I'm telling you this from experience! Ouch. Mosier definitely has the best cherries!! And the best prices. At $2.00-$2.50 a pound, they are far cheaper than those on the Hood River Fruit loop. Drive one exit past Hood River (exit 69) to the town of Mosier and within minutes you are at Root Farms and several other cherry farms. The ride to Mosier is beautiful as the Columbia River widens and the basalt cliffs on the Washington side are gorgeous. Since I'm here all the time, I pick at several each season to support local.

Their orchards are on the hills and some areas are steep so know that before you go. The views from their hills are spectacular! Reminds me of the rolling hills and vineyards of Tuscany. The trees are bursting with cherries and it's so easy to fill a bucket in no time. On the day I visited recently, the dark black-purple Titans were ripe and so sweet. For $2.25 a pound, they are worth every penny! I picked 10 pounds and gifted bags to my friends. They supply buckets and I brought my own bags to dump them in. Workers are friendly. Cherries the sweetest. Views incredible. 5 stars all the way! Located 60 minutes from Portland, it's a beautiful ride. So much to do in the Gorge so spend the day there after you pick cherries. Oh, and wear a hat as the sun is strong!

My boyfriend loves cherries so he dragged me up to Mosier, OR (about an hour from PDX) where he found this place on google. To my surprise, this wonderful u-pick farm didn't even exist on Yelp! What the hell? On Google, we found out that they opened for this season on the last Saturday of June with three kinds of cherries to pick: Santas, Rainier, and Bings. Once we arrived at the farm, it was very easy to find parking and locate the booth to get started and weigh your container for picking. Everything is set up well for social distancing and to our surprise, this place is massive! The only tip we have for visitors is: don't miss the very back of the orchard because there are so many smaller trees back there teeming with fruit. We had a hard time knowing when to stop picking because the cherries were all so good and of course we also had to sample a few just to make sure they were as good as they looked. Since we brought our own basket we were able to pick around 10lbs of cherries. The price was 1.75 per pound which was fantastic compared to any other price for cherries (especially Rainier). Please make sure to check their website ahead of time for seasonal availability. But if you need some time outside of the house and you don't mind a little drive, this place is highly recommended.

This is a third generation farm - their grandparents immigrated from Japan in the early 1900s. It's almost 300 acres and they've got apples, pears, peaches, cherries, berries, and probably more. The farmstand is open July through November. They've got a pick your own/U-pick options. They specialize in growing over 150 different varieties of apples, pears, cherries, and stone fruit. Their website is pretty up-to-date on which fruit are available at any given time. I really enjoyed stopping into the marketplace for a wide selection of pre-picked fruits, some of which had samples available. They were priced by weight and I was very pleased with the cost in the end ($12 for so many apples!).

And this orchard is so fun to visit in mid-October during harvest time. They have wagon rides, a big fort for kids, an apple variety tasting, and dozens & dozens of apples and pear varieties for sale. We filled up a box of cosmic crisps to take home, plus loaded up on a bunch of jugs of honey for the year - 3 lbs for $24 is a great deal. I also walked through the orchard and loved that they labeled all the rows of trees so you can see all the many varieties. They had apple cider and apples with caramel sauce as samples while waiting in line. While I'm disappointed that the apple tasting still costs as much as last year, the experience is otherwise great and I'll be back.
