OMG, I ordered the Eggs Royale with bacon instead of salmon and it was sublime. The most beautiful, orangey yolked, melting interior poached eggs with the best hollandaise I have eaten in my life. Bacon, crisp, but not overcooked and a kumara rosti/pattie that any vegetarian would give their eye teeth for. To top it all off, the coffee is some of the best I've had, they obviously have spent a lot of time tuning the coffee machine, use of thermometers in the milk jug shows they really care. Scones are huge and tasty too, if you come just for the coffee in the magnificent stag hall, you won't be disappointed. The grounds are perfect for a picnic under the trees after a museum visit too.

This time was the first time i have ever seen and been in the cafe. Anyway as the name suggests it is all about the word " bugger "....and its usage and acceptance into the common everyday language in the country. There is much magazine and news clippings , cartoons and posters adorning the walls regarding the word and well known instances it has been used in....including one time when our ex PM used it. Anyway the pictures say it all. As for the rest of the decor..nice..and it is a bright place with good atmosphere. And so on to the service and food . My better half ordered the Bugger burger with bacon( can get without if so wish) and i the Bugger stew with pastry on top. Also i ordered a cappuccino. The food came out in an okay time...not slow but then not too quick either. I expected pastry baked on top of the stew , but it was instead the stew in a bowl with a chunk of pastry sitting atop the bowl. There was a salad on the side also. The salad was okay but i thought the stew had a high chance that it had come out of a tin can!! As for the burger ....she said it was nothing special. And the cappuccino!!!...i had to remind them about it. It wasn't even at the table before the food came out!! Overall well deserving of the two stars by my opinion and the only worthwhile reason to come in is to peruse the articles etc about that famous word " bugger". I see they have another cafe somewhere else in the country....Now should i risk trying that out one day...
