Loonie's Bin is the kind of place where you walk in saying, "Just a quick look," and 45 minutes later you're pointing at things you haven't seen in decades. Richard and Carol know more about Gardena than most history books. Half the fun is hunting through the endless collection of vintage treasures, and the other half is chatting with them. Every shelf has something nostalgic, unexpected, or wonderfully random. I spotted old Duncan yo-yos, Mickey Mouse collectibles, vintage signs, John Wayne toilet paper, and about a hundred other things I've already forgotten. They even put water out for our dog, which instantly made us feel welcome. If you're grabbing coffee nearby, stop in afterward. Just don't expect to leave quickly. I dropped in while visiting the area and just wanted to look around. Going in, I had no expectations, and wow, those expectations were completely exceeded. They truly have a little bit of everything, all at very reasonable prices. It's cash only, but there's an ATM nearby. If you enjoy curated collectibles, antiques, trinkets, and unique finds, I highly recommend Loonies Bin. Beyond their amazing selection, Carol and her husband are genuinely kind people. They do an incredible job of making everyone feel like family. I could easily spend hours talking with Carol about her adventures and the wealth of knowledge she has about the store and its treasures. This is truly an amazing store and well worth the visit. There is an amazing variety of collectibles, vintage clocks, jewelry and knick knacks. The owners were the best part of my visit! I spent an hour talking with Richard and Carol, learning their personal history, some history of Gardena's Main Street and talking about different items they have in the store. It's a small store, but you could spend hours there browsing and chatting. I learned that the store has been there over 40 years! Richard and Carol love what they do and I loved listening to their stories of what Gardena use to look like before it was lost to time. They even kept bringing out other fascinating items to show me. The most wonderful welcome in this shop, I've NEVER done a yelp review, but this shop literally has me writing one. The selection is one of a kind, I've seen and learned so much about many of the items at the store. The owners were so kind and genuine when talking with me and my boyfriend. We definitely spent over like an hour and a half just talking with them, and it was such a great experience. We learned so much about them as well, and Richard even told us about his life which was so interesting to learn about. This store also had such cute accessories which I was browsing through for a WHILE. I walked out with such beautiful pieces and there were many antique stuff from decades back! There is definitely something there for everyone, I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area! read more

One of my fav things to do is poke around low profile antiques and collectibles places. And Richard &Carol Luna's store is a total gem! It's a small place full of fantastic finds. Richard is a mechanical genius so all the clocks he's got work (!!). And things are displayed with care so you can actually see what's on offer. Lots of fun stuff from the 40s-50s-60s. Super cute shop! Just looking at it from the outside, it catches the eye! I work a couple streets down and I passed by one day so I decided to go during my break. It is CASH ONLY. I wasn't able to get anything that day because I didn't have cash but I went the next morning and I found the cutest picnic basket! The shop is tiny but it has so many things. Make sure to look well because I found a really cute picnic basket underneath some stuff in the back. $22 for a the big picnic basket and it came with cups, plates, and spoons! Super cheap! I will definitely be going back. And most importantly the owner is so friendly :) read more

I can't believe I am the first review of this little hidden gem! When I was in Junior High years ago I use to walk past this store and always thought it looked cool. It wasn't till years and years later that I would actually get the privilege of going in. My husband bought me a few things from this place for x-mas one year and so my mom, sister, my brother and I came in one day to check it out. We ended up staying over 2 hours. The store is small but they have some awesome antiques, stuff I've never seen before. I recommend this place to people who love antiques either to buy or just browse, either way its a cool place to check out. The reason we stayed so long is the amazingly friendly owners. It is a husband and wife and boy they are the sweetest people ever!!! They had so many stories and were so interesting we just all stood there and chatted for a long while. The cool thing is they told us they have a life size wax figure in there home (which is attached to the shop) of the Boston Strangler. I wanted to see it but we didn't get a chance! I love this store. I was visiting my Grandparents and they had told me about a small "Hole In the wall Vintage store" they thought I would like. Boy were they right! Soooo many beautiful pieces at (in my opinion for the condition these items were in) were ridiculously IN-expensive. Honest to goodness Victorian era items like purses and Valentine's sets etc-NOT REPLICAS. The couple who own the business are just wonderful. They know so much about what they sell. They also repair broken items too! the lady showed me an old metal toy bus that's paint was chipped off and dented. She showed me where there problems were and I was amazed. Looked like NEW! As the other poster said you can get lost in time there talking with these knowledgeable and kind folks. Get to the Loonie Bin and see what your missing like the life sized Boston Strangler, some free lessons on fashion, decor and other things vintage. This place is awesome! read more
