But I was scared of being an Indian girl with god forbid blonde or orange hair. I heard good things about Colleen from a family friend, and honestly the balayage she did went beyond all of my expectations!! Colleen understood my vision and gave me the most beautiful sun kissed highlights, after about 2+ hours of work. They were perfect for the summer and I received endless compliments on how much dimension and volume my hair received from the dye job. I came back about 6 weeks later to get a glaze (the color became brassy), and now it's a more subtle caramel tone. She did such an amazing job in my first true experiment with color that I doubt I will go back to my natural hair color any time soon. The overall experience at this salon was great. They give great service (tea, coffee, bagels). The staff is knowledgeable and super friendly. My hair job was pricier than some of the groupon deals I saw online, but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for - I paid a good price for a very professional hair coloring treatment and have been told this by stylists and friends alike. I have been a loyal customer for a year until this week when I met David for the first time. I was late for 10 minutes with a pre-notice so I said "okay" to every compromise I had to make, when the front desk (who was rude too) told me that I would have to accommodate a junior stylist and will not get a blowout. As a single working mother of a toddler kid, I did not mind at all, because it was the only 30 minutes I could squeeze out to get my haircut that I have longed for 6 months. Then came with David who kept brushing my hair with a thin comb so hard and so close to my ears as if he was going to cut my ears off. I walked out of the place charged with $90 with wet hair, because he dried my hair for 2 minutes but no junior stylist ever showed up to take over to further dry up my hair (I was not expecting a blow out at all, since I agreed to the arrangement, but at least walk out with dry hair lol!). My friend who picked me up was a witness for how red my ears were, because David kept brushing my hair and scalp so hard that I almost cried. I also heard from other patrons that they were offered tea/coffee whenever they went, but I was only offered the first time. The last time when I finished my haircut and waited in the waiting area for 20 minutes for uber, I recalled that the front desk lady was gossiping with a customer loudly to complain about another customer for the entire time (totally unprofessional) so do not share any personal details with anyone working there!
