I had an excellent lunch here today with my Mom and Aunt. We spent the day shopping at the local…read moreprimitive and country stores and grabbed a bite at Thee Village Eatinghouse beforehand. I had the Turkey Reuben Sandwich and it was excellent. I don't like rye, so they substituted a pumpernickel marble instead. The sandwich was toasted but the bread wasn't dried out like most toasted sandwiches tend to be. It also came with sweet potato french fries served with a side of maple syrup. My mom and aunt both got the portobello sandwich on olive focacchia bread. The portobellos were cut into small pieces and fell out of the sandwich. They also weren't as flavorful as other marinated mushrooms. My aunt asked for a side of ranch to spruce up the sandwich which made it better. Their sandwiches came with a pasta salad. It was OK, but had a sweetness to it which was just OK to me. Overall, I would highly recommend this place. We also had a slice of pumpkin cheesecake which was very delicious. They also had a large case of delicious bakery goodies, which I imagine were just delectable.

We were heading down the road this morning, urgently seeking a place that served breakfast, and…read morecouldn't find anything. We were seeking an eating establishment by another name that was eluding us, when we came upon the Village Eatinghouse. (We had to "circle the block" 3 times to find WHICH shop/building the Eatinghouse was-- they really need to improve signage.) Enter in the rear. We showed up and they opened a half hour earlier than they would normally, to accommodate our car-full of five hungry people. We were so glad for that. They don't serve much/any traditional breakfast food except for baked goods, so we made 9:30 a.m. into brunchtime. The service was wonderful. The decaf was great, the spinach quiche was great, the cinnamon twist baked goods were great, the 4-cheese dipping bread was great, the chicken salad sandwich was super, and my husband said his turkey sandwich on marble pumpernickel was fantastic--real carved turkey, not coldcut slices. My cinnamon scone was flatter and much more dense than I think a scone should be, but was edible and we were happy to be there. Everything reasonably priced, a few things even seemed too cheaply priced. They were selling a variety of 10 different dessert pies that we didn't wind up ordering but looked beautiful and tasty, and a variety of 5 different types of bread. Free penny candy by the door! Decor nice and country-ish, clean place. Staff may be locals, but are not Amish, at least not waitstaff. They also sell teabags by the box. There is a wheelchair ramp. Porch swing and rocking chairs on porch were cute and fun, too. We were really glad to find this place today! They seem to take credit cards but not Am Ex.
