I recently commissioned a landscape oil painting on canvas and needed to get it framed to hang it in my house. I saw the many good reviews and I live in the neighborhood so thought I would stop by and see what they could do for me. Listen, Bob isn't just a friendly businessman providing a product and service--he's a framing savant in my opinion. I walked in, he introduced himself and asked to see the painting and if I had any frame styles in mind for it. I told him I was hoping to get some suggestions, but had some vague idea. He took a long look at the painting, admired it for a few moments, made a few comments about the colors, some of the features, etc., and then told me he had just the frame in mind. I said I'd love to see it, so he went and grabbed the little display corner to hold up to the painting and... well, truly, it was the perfect frame. It's a 9x12" painting, and I was expecting to get a frame on the smaller end so as to really showcase the artwork. The frame Bob picked out was, to my untrained eye, very on the "medium" end of the size spectrum, but definitely larger than I expected. He said something along the lines of "This is a very /strong/ landscape--it would overpower a smaller frame. I think a frame about this size balances it out and really complements it." And he was right--it was perfect. He humored me and grabbed probably a dozen more frames when I asked to see something darker or lighter or bigger or smaller, but he picked the best frame for the piece within two minutes of seeing it. Bob apparently jotted down my phone number wrong so couldn't contact me when it was finished. I ended up calling a few weeks later to check on it, he profusely apologized when I called and when I picked it up. He added a discount to the already very reasonable price and told me he'd added a note to my file to discount my next order as well. I was blown away. They don't make enough small businesses like this anymore, but I'll support this one as long as I'm in the area. read more

I recently bought a high-quality limited edition print from my favorite photographer, Peter McKinnon. Upon receiving it, it suggested to get it professionally framed. So, I wanted to find a place that would give this piece the same appreciation and care that I have for it. I decided to go to Longenbaker and had the pleasure of working with Gregg and had an incredible experience from start to finish. I now have a unique piece that I'm excited to proudly display in my home. The beginning of the process is incredibly fun getting to look at different combinations of mattes and frames. Gregg takes into account your unique style, wants, and needs and pairs it with his years of experience to create something truly special. This was my first time going there and I can't wait to go back! I'm excited to buy more art for the sole purpose of getting it framed beautifully. In terms of pricing, you get an incredible value for what you pay for. I've had a piece framed at a big-box store, like Joann's and Michael's, before and the pricing is comparable, except here you get much more bang for your buck due to the experience these folks can offer. Lastly, they finished mine very quickly to my surprise in less than a week, which I excepted to take closer to a month! To note, they very transparently mention that it all depends on how quickly they can get the materials in their hands from the suppliers. Living in grandview, I've driven by Longenbaker's on third many times over the past 4 years. After reading another review on yelp, I decided to stop by and check it out. I'm so glad I did, as I now have four well framed paintings on display in my dining room! When I popped in, I was greeted warmly and given undivided attention by the gentleman (Bob I believe) running the shop Saturday morning. Bob asked questions about where I hoped to display the paintings, what colors the walls were and etcetera and then helped me find mats and frames that would help the paintings stand out. He both made me feel like a part of the process in finding frames that met by style needs but was also helpful in showing me types of frames that would go well with the paintings and those that might draw attention away from the artwork. Once I had selected several frame options I liked (out of the hundreds they have lining the walls), he pulled a few more based on both my style and what would compliment the paintings. We then talked about my price range I had in mind before settling on options that worked best within my budget. In less then a week, I received a call from Logenbaker's that they were ready to pick up. This was the BEST experience I have had, possibly with any business in Columbus! I sent an inquiry via their website, and got a reply later that morning. I went in and was greeted warmly, and not "sold" or "pitched," but felt that the staff truly was interested in my story and goal for my project. We took our time, reviewed options, and I was allowed to make choices, and not directed to ideas that would have been more costly. They even answered questions about things without making me feel silly - and I tend to ask a lot of questions! I came away with what will be a family heirloom! I couldn't have asked for a better experience at Longenbaker Picture Framing. My best friend was getting married and the best man and I wrote a song for the bride and groom to play at their reception. I wrote up a page of the piano sheet music for part of the song and wanted to have it framed as their wedding gift. I took the project to Bob and I'm so happy I did. He was excited to help me and had an instant vision for what he wanted to do. I brought it to him on a Tuesday, and when he found out the wedding was that coming Saturday, he expedited the process and had it done for me by Thursday night! He even included two pockets on the back of the frame, one for a copy of our CD recording of the song, and one for the best man and I to each write a letter to the bride and groom - an awesome idea from Bob and a special touch that made it even more personal. We just had 4 pieces of artwork reframed last week at Longenbaker Picture Framing. The entire experience was such delight. Gregg and Bob both assisted my husband and me and gave us several creative suggestions along the way, most of which we had them incorporate into the project. We were immensely pleased with the result, and just today I returned with an additional painting for them to frame for us. In addition to the meticulous care they took with our artwork, they also prepared the framed pieces for hanging, even to the point of diagramming exact measurements for us to install the hangers (from the floor and out to either side from the center.) Nothing but great things to say about this framing experience. I was looking for someone to frame a pressed flower in a short amount of time, in time for Mother's day, and Bob was more than willing to help me achieve that goal. He walked me through the framing process, respected my price point, and designed an absolutely beautiful piece to accentuate the flower. He told me he could have it done in a few days, but got in done in just a few hours!! I am so grateful for his help and for how beautiful it turned out! Wow!! Needed some glass replaced in a large piece of art. Looked around at some local glass suppliers but they were not too knowledgeable about different types of glass and they really could not perform the install for me. Called Longenbaker's and spoke with Robert and he was very helpful and knew exactly what I needed. Took my art in the next day and there he was waiting for me and explained the process and gave me a very fair price! 2 days later when I went to pick it up he had reinforced my frame and re-cut the mat to fit better and gave me a great new mounting system on the back of the frame to hang the art with. I highly recommend Longenbaker for anything you need framed. I needed five canvases mounted and went to see them. They are extremely friendly and helpful, and I felt welcomed as soon as I walked through the door. Bob is phenomenal, he clearly knows what he's doing, and he gave me a great price! They also worked to meet my tight timeline, and even got them done earlier than expected. Bob at Longenbaker did a WONDERFUL job! I had two pieces from the late 1970's that were printed on glass and floating in the frame, so we weren't working with a typical print. He took the time to pick out a frame that would fit in my budget and still look great, and really went out of his way to work with the old, faded, dirty glass. These pieces have never looked so good, and Bob did them within a tight budget and really reasonable time frame. I would definitely recommend this place for any framing projects! read more
